Mac laptops last a lot longer than they get credit for. My last laptop was an early 2011 MacBook Pro, and obviously it can’t handle EVERYTHING, but even recently I was using for photo editing and very small video editing projects (up to 1080p). I decided to upgrade to this MacBook Air M2 because the multicore processor and GPU would allow me to higher quality editing if I had to do so away from home. Not to mention being able to upgrade my photoshop and video editing apps now that I have a current OS. What I like: it’s lightweight, it looks cool (I got the midnight color, so it looks like Batman’s laptop), it’s very fast to boot and open apps, the screen is very bright (I keep at about 60% most of the time), the speakers are decent (as far as laptop speakers go, and I don’t have them all the way up either), the screen is fantastic when it comes to image quality. I also like that it’s cooled via heatsinks and not fans, which means less overheating and is safer to have on your lap or in a bed (no blankets blocking the exhaust causing harm to the computer). The battery lasts so much longer than any laptop I’ve ever had. People online (especially YouTube) will say it’s not meant for creatives and you should spend more blah blah blah… and to a degree they’re right. But I’ve edited and color graded 4k RAW video (high quality with large file sizes) and it was painless and had fast exports. The only time I experienced slow down was when I applied a taxing effect like denoiser to my footage. Would I buy this to be my main video editor? Yes and no. Depends on your workload. 4k or 1080p editing for videos under 10mins yes. 6k or 8k definitely not. Photos: absolutely (though brilliant as the screen is, it appears slightly more dark and saturated than photos appear elsewhere). Some tips: don’t spend more on upgrading the SSD from apple, you can buy a fast Crucial brand 2TB usb c external drive for under $100. This is fine for storage and even editing directly from the external drive which will keep the laptop clean and running fast. And get a USB C hub so you can plug in more external items as needed (USB A, card reader, mouse, external display, etc), these vary in price but can be bought for $20. I also recommend a padded laptop sleeve bag to keep the computer from dings and scratches. Honestly my biggest issue is the fact that I need a bigger monitor to edit photos and videos on (not the laptops fault). But I do wish these defaulted to 16gb RAM and 512GB of storage. Even with the integrated RAM (which allows the SSD/CPU to basically buffer the ram to help it out), 8GB is a little underwhelming for 2023. I mostly use this as my back up (I do most editing on a desktop Mac with a large monitor): emails, streaming video, web stuff, office stuff etc.; but don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be your work horse on the road. It runs the newest adobe photoshop and video editors just fine. And as I said, the 13” screen can be a little cramped for a video editing workspace but it’s usable in a pinch.

I am a college student that is learning 100% online. This means i need a reliable laptop that can meet the demands of a full course load, which includes attending lectures via zoom. This laptop is superior to the Galaxy book 2 that I was using previously. Not only do I stay more organized and focused with the help of this laptop, but my Macbook also seamlessly links to my iPhone for easy sharing and the battery lasts me nearly all day before I need to plug it in for a charge. I absolutely love my laptop ! I currently use it every single day for virtually everything ! I have an online Personal Training business and this has been one of the best purchases I’ve made !!! I had an older MacBook from 2017 & the software wouldn’t update anymore so I figured it was time for a new one ! It is so much faster than I expected & smoother ! The trackpad alone is 1000X better than I’d expect ! There’s a high resolution & everything looks crystal clear ! Also , the battery life is phenomenal ! I can charge it overnight & use it all day long and have no issues with the battery dying ! Truly truly recommend this laptop !!!!

After being a windows user for the past 20 years, I never saw myself switching to anything let alone an Apple product. After a month in with this computer I don’t see myself switching back to a windows. The ease of convince with the mac and the entire apple ecosystem is second to none. The operating system is a breeze to use and every app opens lightning fast with no delayed response or buffering screen. I use my Mac for just about everything and haven’t encountered one issue yet. Battery life on the computer is amazing and can last me up to a week with light use, the display on the computer is absolutely amazing. I was never one to stream videos on the computer but now I find myself in bed with the computer almost every night. To make a very long story short, this is simply the best bang for buck computer out right now, it does every task for anyone that needs and with the array of colors there is one for everyone.

Apple has finally made a powerful compact computer with MacBook Pro attributes. The display, the processor upgrade, and the design is hands down my favorite out of all the MacBooks I’ve owned. The new color schemes were a great implementation to the MacBook Air lineup. Pros: operates with high speeds and zero lag or that infamous pinwheel we all know.. no more of that. The new A2 chip is a game changer. Movies, online gaming, multi platforms all open at once, and not lag or slowed speeds. Cons: don’t really have one but a personal suggestion, these new Macs have so many new amazing features to the point I had to watch hours of YouTube videos so I could take full advantage of my MacBook Air. Super nice computer. Probably the best that’s out there for most people. Extremely fast; absolutely no waiting at all to wake it up from sleep. Battery lasts forever — about 5% per hour. The screen is clear and gets plenty bright, although it’s a bit small for some usages. Makes me curious about the larger laptops, but I don’t want to give up portability (or more money). Notch is a bit annoying, but it only affects the menu bar. Overall, just a really great laptop for anyone who doesn’t need Windows or a big screen.

Fantastic speed via internet and processor power. Limited storage space, upgrade the cloud space. small, lightweight, slim, m2 is amazing. I can edit pro video, edit cinema footage, and produce movie footage with ease. Super Amoled 4k screen. Simple to use. All apps friendly, will last 7 years or more, super travel ready workstation. Battery lasts 7hrs with minimal use 12 to 14. I was able to edit, cut, slice, a video production in less than 2 hours compared to my pc that took 5 hours. From processing to final. However edit from external source. IE. personal hard drive or from the cloud. That's the only limit here..

My 7-yr.old MacBook Air's battery finally bit the big one. Since it's now too old to get a battery replacement, it was time to replace it. Made the decision to go with the M2 with MagSafe plug. Migration Assistant went smoothly and I was up and running in very little time. I'm thankful the battery died (which by the way, I learned that it's not good to leave it charging all the time) because I absolutely love this new Air. The keyboard is great and responsive, the screen resolution amazing and vivid, and battery life has surprised me. It's fast and the overall size is smaller because the bezel around the screen is almost non existent. It's light, as you would expect from an Air, but without compromising screen real estate. My first Zoom call shocked me at the resolution, clarity, and sound. I love the Touch ID. Took awhile to get used to it because it's where the Delete key used to be on the old one, but I'm surprised at how much I use it. If you're moving from an older Mac as I did, or you're new to MacBooks, watch the video. There's a learning curve because some things have changed and there's lots of new stuff. Especially if you upgrade to Ventura. The only quibbles I have is that you only have 2 Thunderbolt ports (USB-4), but it does have a headphone/speakers jack. Got a hub and that was resolved. And, the charger/cable that comes with it is only 6ft. Don't know about you, but that's a bit too short. I've been told that the extension unit that came with my old Air will connect to the block on this one. Haven't tried that yet but good to know. If you don't have an old one, they retail for $19. But you can use the USB-C cable that comes with it with other chargers. Some folks have commented that the smoke grey color shows a lot of fingerprints. It does, but they are easily wiped off by even a tissue. It's a great color. If you are considering getting this from BestBuy, get the Total Tech membership. It's cheaper than Apple Care and it includes Apple Care. This way you get help if anything goes bump during set up and you get the extra benefits. Just saying. I've wondered about whether I should have gotten the upgraded model with more Ram and storage, but I've gone this many years without that. However, if you do a lot of video/audio editing, I'd spring for the extra cost. Overall, really, really happy.

Very smooth and the battery last FOREVER and it charged really fast! Replacing a 10 year old MacPro that had 1 TB drive and 16GB memory that had a bulging battery with intermittent freeze-up. I was concerned this machine would be a major step-down; however, not a problem. Currently 8 tabs open, I run Excel spreadsheets of moderate complexity and read large document downloads. This machine performs flawlessly. Very happy with purchase.
