Customers admire the MacBook Pro 16" for its expansive screen, impressive performance, and ease of use. Many appreciate the convenient Touch Bar and long battery life, along with its lightweight design and high-quality speakers. However, some find the price to be high and express concerns about the limited number of USB ports and occasional heat generation. A few users also mention noticeable fan noise at times.

Alright here’s my full honest review. The laptop is amazing for Apple users. I love the option that allows you to use your iPad as a second display, it has been very helpful for my college studies! The screen is amazing, the colors are great and the screen changes brightness to the area you are in! Now here are some things I don’t like. The camera sucks. Like really really sucks. Imagine an 80s movie the quality of the movie is better than the camera in the laptop, it’s disappointing especially when the laptop comes from a company with one of the best phone cameras on the market. It gets so hot! Don’t use this in your lap while wearing shorts because you will feel the burn. The fan is obnoxiously loud. For example, I played sims 4 on the laptop and within 10 minutes the fans were on FULL blast, the laptop bottom was scolding hot AND the battery only lasted 30minutes AND IT WAS ON A FULL CHARGE. Also the laptop I am mentioning is my second 16” MacBook Pro the first one I had to return because of a software issue the same issue was on my new 16” MacBook Pro where my laptop would shut off in the night and when I turned it on it would say something like system failure laptop restarted. It got fixed by a software update because of the MANY reports my laptop sent to Apple which was good I guess. I don’t know anybody else but I cannot make calls if I do the person on the other line can’t hear me! ALSO I don’t understand why there are only thunderbolt three ports and no usb type C or even ports to charge the iPhone! If you use this laptop you will have to invest in a hub off of amazon that will allow you to be able to use other types of ports. Other than that the laptop is okay. It is a great machine it’s extremely fast and the look is professional. I just wish Apple would take care of the little things. At least have a port to charge your iPhone with like come on!

I've been using Macs for years. This was an upgrade from a 13" MacBook Pro base model. The 16" screen made a huge difference in what I can get done away from my large monitor. I've found my work issued MacBook Air's screen (it's a previous generation) gets hard to look at after a while, whereas this one is much less fatiguing. It's overkill for what I really do, but it is noticeably faster loading files than my old one, but this has twice the RAM and a i7 compared to i5 and 8GB. I like the touchbar, it's neat. I hope developers continue to utilize it while it sticks around. I am picky about sound so I usually use decent quality headphones so didn't expect much from the speakers, but they are surprisingly good. Overall, I tend to get longer life out of the Macs I've had compared to PCs. Though, I haven't shopped for a windows machine in years and I'm sure the quality has gone up as long as you're willing to pay for something comparable.

The best laptop I’ve ever used

This MacBook is super fast at pretty much everything I throw at it, from gaming to the occasional college word document. The display is big and super high resolution with fantastic colors. The build is super premium and well crafted, absolutely zero panel gaps anywhere. I also like how the base model which is what I have, has adequate storage (512 gb) and ram (16gb) which is great for future proofing. The people who buy these expensive macs can’t afford to upgrade every year so future proofing like this is definitely essential. Now, the one thing that isn’t so great is the fan noise. Under heavy tasks like film editing or gaming the fan is very loud, much louder than my other laptops. Overall I would give it a 9.5/10. Also, the trackpad is nice and big. Another bonus is the backlit keyboard which helps me to papers in the dark, and thank god we got the siscor switches back!!!!! It makes the typing experience great again!

I hemmed & hawed over getting this, including 2 separate trips to look at it, when I finally gave in. Prone to buyer's remorse, I haven't felt a single bit of it with this MacBook Pro. It's fast, it's simple to use, basically what I expected from a Mac. The utility bar has turned out to be a nice feature, in spite of my concerns that it'll burn out before anything else. One surprise has been the speakers. Computer speakers are notoriously tinny but this has incredible stereo sound, as good as some of the external speakers I once used w/ my previous Mac. I'm getting use to the lack of ports but that's way all systems seem to be going at present.

I bought this MacBook Pro and it showed on that tag that it has scratches on it. I didn’t find any scratches so I thought it was a steal. So I go home set everything up and my battery is low. So I go to the box to get the charger and find out that one of the prongs are bent badly! I’m taking this back to the store tomorrow as soon as they open in Kissimmee FL

A Pure Beast of a Machine

First, I am new to MacBooks having come from a lifetime of Microsoft Windows computers heralding back to Windows 95. This MacBook was the last bastion to selling my soul to the Apple ecosystem as I already am pretty entrenched with the iPad Pro and iPhone. However the time was right as I got this beast for $400 off the massive $2,499 price, which is the best discount you are going to get for a MacBook of this caliber. The transition has been pretty seamless despite a few learning curves of learning a new OS. That said, the MacBook and its OS is simple to navigate and is quite intuitive once you get going. The gestures though! The gestures are a huge feature across all Apple devices that provide a pretty uniform user experience across all devices; and are quite efficient in their use and purpose. To be honest, this MacBook Pro is significantly more computer than I will ever really need for day to day use as I don't really do any video or photo editing, but look at it more as an investment that will last me 8-10 years and be future proof for several years while keeping high levels of resell value if I ever need to upgrade far down the road. Which can't be said much of most all Windows based machines that have half as much of a lifespan. As far as overall feature, this thing pretty much has it all, and is the most premium computer I have owned. Having upgraded from the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 which surprisingly lasted me several years but has since finally declined into its death throes, it is a night and day difference. The i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM hasn't even broken a sweat. The display is crisp with very nice color reproduction, though I do worry about its durability being so thin. I will have to get a protective skin I think. The most I have pushed the capabilities of this system have been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, which plays very smooth, lending to the 4 GB of dedicated graphics processing from the 5300M GPU. While this is not in any way strictly a gaming computer, it plays modern games quite reasonably well. Since this is the first MacBook I have owned or used, I don't know the heartburn of the butterfly keys of MacBooks past, but the scissor keys have very nice travel and offer a very crisp typing experience with nice key travel. The extra large trackpad is amazing to say the least, and is a nice piece of real estate to navigate the OS and use of gestures. The Touch Bar is ok and something that I probably don't/won't use to its full potential though the sound and brightness settings are rather convenient. The sound from the speakers are quite amazing compared to any other laptop I've used; very full, deep, and rich. The battery with moderate use will last me virtually all day and charges quite quickly. All in all, this machine is quite amazing, sleek, and easy to use once you can move past the premium sticker shock that Apple is known for. Would most people looking for a day to day laptop be fine with a MacBook Air or lesser MacBook Pro for half the price? Absolutely. If you want to splurge and know you have one of the best machines that will remain relevant and reliable for years to come that will serve your needs in both work and play, then yes by all means break open your piggy bank open into Apple's coffers and walk away with confidence.

I upgraded to this MacBook from a 2013 15" MacBook Pro and performance-wise this is definitely a lot faster and the battery and display are absolutely amazing. The touch bar is an amazing tool with the TouchID integrated makes this one easy computer to maneuver through. I did know this until I got it but if you have an apple watch, your watch can unlock your computer for you and it is extremely quick and no setup was required. I just had my watch on and open my MacBook and back my watch vibrated and I was in. I can't wait to try sidecar with my iPad. The keyboard is so smooth and the mouse pad is amazing too. It took some time to adjust to not having USB-A but the adapters that are available help and make connecting all my devices a breeze. I was elated to see that there was a 3.5 mm headphone jack which is so cool to have. THE SOUND is on this thing is crazy! Music and movies almost make me feel like I'm in a movie theater or I have a Bluetooth speaker connected. Siri works flawlessly and again this touch bar is great. I was skeptical because I was so accustomed to fixed-function buttons but the touch bar does come in handy in different applications. The FaceTime camera can be a lot better. iPhones have a great front-facing camera. I'm not sure why that technology hasn't yet been placed in the MacBook's or iMac's. But compared to my 2013, it is definitely a major improvement, especially in low light areas. The graphics are great! Movies and videos play and look flawless.

Bought for my university sophomore daughter. The last one lasted 8 years, 4 Years high school, 4 year university and 1.5 daughters... She is very happy with the product, brighter, larger screen, and additional speed thanks to the I7 processor over the 2012's I5 CPU. I'm told that the keyboard touch is very responsive with a short throw when depressed. The Touch Bar is cute, it works, but thus far she finds it to be more "Toy" than convenience. CONS: The computer is built with only 4 external ports All of which are Thunderbolt! One must purchase a "Port replicator" or "docking station" in order to use something as common as a Jump Drive. I bought an: AUKEY USB C Hub 12-in-1. There is one port for Power and will charge the laptop while connected as well as its main function to provide connectivity to your existing peripheral equipment. Price... Apple is darn proud of their products. I would never pay that kind of money for something for me, but my daughters... They wanted Apple so daddy shelled out the dollars ;-) I build my own equipment...

Loooovvveee my Mac. I compare it to the HP Spectre 360 which was touch screen and became a tablet, which felt like an extremely chunky iPad, then I got my Mac and it was even faster than the quad core processor in the HP honestly. It's sleek and slim and not to heavy. I love the Touch Bar feature which makes up for not having a touch screen anymore. The only thing I wish it had was a ten key on the keyboard, that is literally the only thing I would change about it. I've had it for about 4 years now and I JUST purchased the MacBook Air M1 for my sister in college as it went on sale so I can't wait to compare that to my pro especially seeing the size differences. Overall a dang good computer!

    Beast of a machine

    - Keyboard. It's fantastic. The key travel has been extended to 1mm, which is about half of the original keyboard found on the 2015 and prior model years. It feels just as good to type on because apple improved the tactile feedback. The keys sort of spring back. The keyboard is quiet and very comfortable to type on. The keys are slightly smaller but do not make typing on them any more difficult. The directional arrows are now properly setup and the physical Esc key is back, making it a breeze to flip through open applications. - Screen. The difference in size is subtle but noticeable. It's technically even more dense, but just barely. You won't notice much difference from recent MacBook Pros but true to Apple, the display is absolutely gorgeous. The 0.6 inch difference in size retains the same logical resolution, so everything should look just slightly bigger which I welcome. - Processor. The base model has the same chipset as the 2019 15.4" model. The performance, however, is about 10% better due to significantly improved airflow and larger heatsinks. The issue of heat related throttling has been largely addressed. On the upper model, the machine now comes with 8 cores and serious performance bump. There is literally nothing you can throw at this MacBook that it won't handle with breeze. - Graphics. The traditional setup is still here. You have the onboard Intel chipset, which operates when the demand for visual performance is low. You also have a discrete AMD chip which delivers significant improvement over the previous generation. In fact, the base model delivers performance in excess of the upper spec Vega chipset from last year. The leap is extraordinary. As before, the system will automatically choose which graphics card to use depending on demand. - Sound. In one world, amazing. Imagine Apple took a HomePod and flattened it to fit it in the housing of the MacBook Pro. That is essentially the experience. Bass is pronounced and crisp and treble is sharp. The sound is rich and room-filling. There are six speakers instead of two in the last generation. -Microphone. Major improvements with three mics instead of one in the previous generation. I use the MacBook to make calls using an iPhone and the sound on the other end is clear and free from background noice. I've been told it sounds a lot better than before, but that is of course subjective. On paper, you're getting better noise reduction and improved sound fidelity. - Touch Bar. Controversial in the past, I think it may now be the "happy medium" between physical keys and the useful Touch Bar which adapts to the content on the screen. The Esc key is back and on the right hand side you'll find Touch ID and power button. - SSD. You'll love the fact that now base starting size of the SSD has been doubled on both the entry model and the upper model with 512GB and 1TB respectively. - Gaming. This has to be mentioned. The graphics card offers incredible leap in performance. Modern games that would get 14-16FPS on high setting now perform at 35-40FPS with ease. Same settings. Same games. Huge improvement. It's now possible to play AAA games on the MacBook Pro with reasonable performance and high visual settings. - Productivity. This machine is a beast. I use the full Affinity suite and do some limited video editing. In addition, I have multiple productivity programs open, over a dozen Safari tabs, two email clients, and dozens of other apps, such as CRM, task managers, notes, etc. Everything runs smoothly. - Value. Yes, value. This expensive laptop brings the best value in the lineup of the 15."4 (now 16") offering to date. If you carefully look at the costs of truly compatible Windows offerings, you'll find the MacBook Pro to be competitively priced. Absolutely a beast of a machine. I love it. It has been pretty much perfect and its performance continues to surprise me. I have the top-speced model and it smokes pretty much everything I've used to date. In fact, it will perform on par with the new Mac Pro base configuration. Don't believe me? Google it. This is by far the best MacBook Pro to date and an amazing value. Well worth the price of admission if you need it.

This MacBook Pro 16” is fast and quiet (other reviews complain about “fan” noise....only an issue if you are over driving the processor with extreme graphics). Compared to a Windows PC this is night and day difference.....no “bloat-ware” means fast boot ups and the built in speakers sound great! The learning curve was not as bad as I expected....like other Apple products using this MacBook is very intuitive. Yes it may be a little on the expensive side (I got it on sale for $2099), but well worth it if you appreciate owning the best.......I’m not a gamer, I do use it for recording music.

This is my first MacBook. When I had used Macs available to me in college, I never liked the operating system and felt like it wasn't as intuitive as Windows. Before this one, I always bought cheap, Windows laptops. As I researched the best laptops for DJing, the MacBook Pro kept coming up time and again for it's reliability. Most DJ's swear by MacBook Pro saying that they have never had one crash during a set. So as much as I was trying to find a Windows counterpart, I ultimately decided to just go for it and I am so happy that I did! I'm really happy that I got the larger 16 inch size too! I got this during the Black Friday sales too, which makes it an even better deal! It has taken some getting used to, but now I LOVE it and see myself sticking with MacBooks in the future. The screen is so sharp and clear and the built in speakers are loud! I have never had such loud, crisp sound in a laptop before! Some say that the Touch Bar isn't really needed, but I find it very convenient. I've been primarily using it to buy digital music and learn DJ software and it's been great! With 512GB SSD, I don't have to worry about filling up the storage with the high resolution music files. When I was researching laptops, there were reviews that this one heats up. It does get warm at times, but not excessively or in a way that is concerning to me. As much as I am not a fan of how apple builds their computers in a way that requires you to buy basic things like USB hubs, I am very pleased with this computer! I highly recommend it if you need a really reliable computer for your work.

I'm writing this as a self confessed Apple fan. That doesn't mean I've never owned or used Windows machines or Chromebooks. I have. I just prefer the way Apple does things. I bought this to replace my mid-2019 13 inch MacBook Pro. I needed a larger display and a bit more power and this fit the bill. I do not regret this purchase at all. The display is stunningly gorgeous. It's perfect for editing photos or videos due to the color accuracy. Not to mention the high resolution. The speakers simply have to be heard to be believed. I'll admit that I initially thought all the hype about the speakers were overkill. If anything it's understated. Traveling for work I'll come back to the hotel at the end of the day and watch a movie. The first time the sound blew me away! It's that good. The built in microphone array is equally impressive. We're living in the era of COVID-19 which means we're all doing many video conferences and the mics are excellent for that. Virtual meeting leads me to my one and only complaint. Why on earth are we dealing with a sub-par 720 built-in webcam? Why?!? Especially for the price of this computer. The Magic Keyboard is pleasant to type on and the backlighting is more than adequate. I don't use the Touch Bar so I have no opinion on that except to say I enjoy having a physical escape key again. Battery life is outstanding! I'm getting through a typical work day with ease (Microsoft Office use, Chrome, streaming music, etc). Having four Thunderbolt ports instead of the two on my old 13 inch is a handy feature. The thermals on this model seem to be working way better than that old 13 incher despite having a more powerful CPU. The AMD graphics make a huge difference when encoding video or light gaming (Civ V). My only downsides are the sub-par webcam and that's it.
