Was very nervous about transitioning to my first MacBook, but this thing has been nothing but easy-to-use so far. I also love the sleek design and lightweight feel of the product. So many accessories available (cases, sleeves). It's also convenient that there are so many Apple users out there to teach a newcomer the ins and outs of the products.
Performance has been nothing but fast. Battery life is as advertised. Retina display was worth the extra $$ investment.

It's a great computer - very lightweight if you travel and powerful for many tasks. The retina display and the new trackpad are amazing. We were considering the Macbook Air 13" in the beginning because it's a little lighter and smaller, but it didn't have the retina display. So the choice was clear after seeing the difference. You pay a little more for a better processor and better display :). And it's still very lightweight and compact to travel with. Battery life is amazing. The only complain is about the MagSafe 2 port - it comes off very easily. But thats a minor thing. Overall is a great piece of technology. And I hope it will last 2 or 3 times longer than any PC laptop.

I bought this laptop for my son for college. So far he said it is great. He likes the size and how light it is to carry to his classes. He also said the clarity of the retina display is very good. He said the processing speed is lighting quick and has had no problem with the battery life. Overall he said he is very pleased with the laptop.

Pros:
- super fast processor and solid state HD make for a great workhorse laptop (e.g. starts up lightning fast, super fast navigating around)
- Retina Display is super sharp, whether its HD video or just browsing the internet
- quickly and easily mirrors the display over Apple TV
- including a HDMI port vs only having the mini display ports was a great move
- packaging / opening experience is on point, of course
- new Force Click functionality is great and opens up a new level of functionality to a device that is generally taken for granted
Cons:
- can't augment RAM (c'mon apple...)
- device gets smoking hot when pushing the processing capabilities (not unique to apple, but unique to a computer with an aluminum case)

torn between a MBA and a baby MBP and 12" MB

This review is based on my need for backup developer laptop.
Features Needed:
1. The battery life is critical.
2. As a software developer I need *atleast* 8 gigs. The 4 gigs on my 2014 MBA caused me all sorts of problems. I couldnt open chrome and the IDE at the same time. I couldnt run a virtual machine without pain.
3. The processor speed on the 2014 MBA was OK.
After upgrade to the 2015 MBP because the battery life is great. You get 8 gigs of ram without a custom config. And I was shocked how much faster is compared to the MBA which was icing on the cake. Its not that much bigger or heavier than the MBA. I feel the new 12" MB would have worked also, BUT there wasnt enough ports. I use an external wireless mouse even on the road when I can. This laptop would be OK for a main dev laptop also, but its a GREAT on the road backup laptop compared to my old 2014 MBA.

Outstanding battery life and beautiful display. The laptop is light and reasonably thin. 8GB is plenty of memory for most users... however, if you intend on editing video (or other memory intensive applications), you may find that 16GB is beneficial. Although additional memory can be added to the machine - this is NOT intended by Apple and requires some degree of technical aptitude. Also keep in mind that the 128GB solid state hard drive is also not easily upgraded. If, after using the machine you find that you need additional storage capacity - consider purchasing an external hard drive that can be attached via the Thunderbolt interface (which is VERY fast).

Upgraded my 2007 MacBook pro to this model. Computer runs really fast and can process 10+ webpages at a time with ease. The trackpad is very responsive and easy to use. Computer is really light and does not heat up. Like the automatic sleep feature, makes your battery last forever. Doesn't have a cd drive but that's not a big deal, every program comes in electronic format these days. I will always have a mac. My last MacBook pro was accidentally left on the trunk of my car and fell off as I was merging on the highway, and it was open! There was a small chip in the case, but computer worked fine for 6 more years! These machines are built to last.

I have always had Windows laptops before and I was always getting frustrated with the laptop being slow, crashing, etc. (we all know Windows isn't what you would call the best OS) So I decided to change for a MacBook Pro and it was the best decision I could make, everything is smooth, looks great, works perfectly, the screen is really good, and the battery life amazing. So I would totally recommend to anybody who hasn't already switched to Apple, to DO IT!
Really great product!

First off, I might be biased... I only buy Apple Products. They are reliable, well built, and always look good. I have an iMac that is 9 years old and still working albeit slower. This MacBook Pro is light weight, compact, and the Retina display makes pictures jump out at you. It's quick to flip from website to website. I am very very pleased with my decision to buy this product.

I upgraded my 10 year old Mac to this and absolutely love it! I've always been a huge Apple fan and this one hit it out of the park for me. Beyond fast (although everything is compared to my old laptop), sleek design, very quiet fans, holds power forever, great sound (not tinny at all), incredible retinal display -- no pixels that I can see! I could go on and on. This is by far the best purchase I could have made and I will always recommend Mac for anyone's laptop needs.

I've had my 13" MacBook Pro with retina display for about a month now and have no complaints! I ordered online and picked up in-store with no trouble, and set-up was a breeze. I previously used a 15" 2010 MacBook Pro and find that the new laptop is faster, more portable, and has a better display. While the 128GB flash storage is a concern for the future, I'll be using a portable hard drive for photos, videos, and other large files.
Would recommend!

I am loving my MacBook Pro. The display and speed of the machine are as advertised. The force touch trackpad is great! Wishing I would have gone with the 256 ssd instead of the 128 but I can live with it. The size and weight are nice. Feels solid without making it too heavy. I have always used PC's so there was a small learning curve but it has not taken long to get used to the Mac only features. I would recommend to anyone considering the switch.

I have wanted a MacBook for a while now, but was always hesitant due to price. However, with the Best Buy open box system I got an excellent deal and basically a new computer. Computer charges fairly quickly and the battery life is exceptional. Retina display has beautiful crisp images. The computer is light weight and portable, overall a great purchase.

Bought this for my 13 year old's graduation gift. I was already a Mac user and love mine so even though she "thought" she wanted another laptop our sales associate Brandon compared spec for spec which was the better laptop going into high school and for her future college needs. My daughter is an artist so uses graphic design programs, plays the violin so music programs are a must and she uses game programs. She loves the versatility of the software, as well as the speed and battery capability. To infinity and beyond!
These are built to last and when mine slid off of my lab desk (4' drop) in its protective padded case it barely dented the metal corner and never shattered the glass screen. Amazing...so yes, I will be buying my daughter a protective padded case to keep her investment safe and secure!
I was given the best advice a long time ago..."Never be afraid to buy quality as you will never regret it." So thank you Apple for making products that are worth their weight in gold!

Well I've spent some serious time looking into all sorts of laptops for school, music production and some video production stuff I like to do. A lot of computers are quad core etc so when I saw it was dual core I was a little hesitant but honestly I worried too much haha. This thing runs my digital audio workstation just fine 100 percent smooth with no problems. If you have an iPhone as well you can pair the device up to it and receive your text messages etc on the laptop screen. I thought that was pretty sick. The Retina display is gorgeous although the display is slightly smaller than other laptops. It's a well rounded laptop that can handle just about anything. Handles 4K files well also. perfect size for a college student too. Battery life is excellent. Honestly if you have the money and are willing to invest in it this laptop will last you a long time. it's not plastic and is made of some sort of aluminum body so it's really sturdy without being too heavy as well. I've been a hard pc fan most of my life, I still would prefer one for heavy gaming but honestly everything else can be done very well using this. laptop. I was very pleased with my purchase

The MacBook Pro 2016 has the best mouse pad buttons, the display is amazing, keys feel great, the fan is very quiet, I went from a 15" Dell to this 13" MacBook Pro, I like the smaller size and light weight, This one still has all the ports. The battery lasts a very long time 10hrs +. The only thing is if your are running a lot of programs it gets warm on the bottom, never really hot but warm. it is very fast and just always works. Well worth the money. I returned three different Windows type laptops before trying this Laptop. I will be keeping it. The switch from Windows to Mac is very easy. But you can load windows on it if you want.

We switched our entire home computing system after our old pc desktop was 8+ yrs old and pc laptop was 6 yrs old. Had been fairly skepetical of the Apple fanboy nature of reviews, but were tied of our systems crashing all the time. Wife had an iPhone and iPad and we loved the simplicity of the airport extreme router we had. We thought it might be nice to have a Mac environment despite the higher cost. Bought this plus a 21.5" Mac desktop and a 2tb time capsule all at the same time and have been very pleased.
This laptop is very responsive, beautiful, and easy to set up learn for a newbie. Love how fast it is too. Just took it on a trip overseas and was incredibly light with a Great battery life. Only got the 128 SSD because a have tha time capsule at home. We have only scratched the surface of this machine, but pleased. Highly recommend making the switch.

This Macbook is an amazing machine. I have been a windows person my entire life, and boy was I missing out. Very easy to use and understand. It is extremely fast and reliable. The screen is stunningly clear. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is got the one with more storage.
