Recently being retired from the IT world after a 35 year career, I was at a point where I was going to have to purchase my own machine and not be supplied with a company owned one for the first time in memory. I had always been given a Windows machine. Also, I built an Ubuntu machine strictly as a learning experience. A number of friends and family touted the Apple product line. My wife has an IPad and that was my only familiarity. The cost had me a little leery but I figured that if I was going to go this route, I should get a top of the line machine to give it a fair shot. So far I am very pleased with my decision. The machine is extremely lightweight, which is important to me. It's lightning fast and the screen resolution and quality is outstanding. I've purchased a couple MacBook how to books and look forward to becoming proficient. I also see that between what's built in and a few apps available pictures and music will be an area of much fun and productivity. All in all, despite spending almost a thousand dollars more than a black Friday Dell or HP special, I'm very happy that I went for it and purchased this one.

This is my 2nd mac. The retina display is very sharp and clear, didn't even notice that I went from a 15" screen on my last computer to a 13". Processor is fast. Have had no problems loading software. Keyboard is very comfortable. Has plenty of ports. Good battery life.

Works great so far. Better battery life than my old mac and doesn't get hot like the old one did. Good video as well. Pretty fast and no antivirus slowdowns that I experience on my PC desktop. Still have to buy the Windows software and an external DVD burner/reader and a backup drive, so not inexpensive. Bought it because Best Buy provided interest free payments over a year. Had to get a Best Buy card to do it.

My daughter originally wanted a macbook air, but with the sale price we got, and much better specs for the pro, we went for that. Fast, easy, great screen. The much higher resolution or the air was a big factor. She will be doing a lot of reading from the screen, and the larger retina display will be much easier on the eyes. Love the Time Machine backup over the 3rd party options we are used to on Windows.

I bought this as a replacement for my 2011 MacBook Air which was experiencing some battery & heat issues after four years of extensive use. The MacBook Pro with Retina display is a massive upgrade. The storage is lightning fast, the screen is absolutely gorgeous (I use the 1680x1050 appearance setting and it's still extremely clear and crisp). I also use it to VPN to my Windows PC at the office and edit documents at a higher resolution than the laptop PC's 15" screen supports. Doing some basic statistical analysis in R and Excel is lightning fast, even with massive datasets, thanks to the 8GB of RAM. I strongly recommend this for work use. For play, it handles basic gaming very well and some more intense games. League of Legends, Diablo 3, and Hearthstone all played better than on my laptop PC, and Hearthstone was even smoother than on my gaming desktop PC. AirPlay playback is awesome if you have an AppleTV, the iMessage, Handoff, and Continuity features are awesome if you have an iPhone, iPad, and/or Apple Watch as well. Battery life is killer, unless you're gaming, and I regularly get 9-10 hours of use between charges with moderate use (Facebook, YouTube, remote connection to work computer, etc.) Overall, strongly recommend picking this up. I will note that I wish it had dedicated graphics like the 15" and older generations of the 13" had, and the Force Touch trackpad is kind of gimmicky but handy for previewing links in Safari without actually opening a new tab.

Beautiful picture quality with the MacBook with Retina! The crispness of the colors on the screen is absolutely amazing! The weight of the MacBook is great, as well as the durability. If you don't already own a Mac computer product, I would highly recommend you get one. The speed of the system is awesome when you want to use the computer in a hurry, it turns right on! I will always be a Mac product user!

I have wanted a MacBook for as long as I can remember and now that I was finally able to get mine I was not disappointed. It's user friendly especially for anyone who doesn't know a lot about technology. I am pro Mac on everything. I have had PCs, I've had androids, but they never compare to when I go back to a Mac. The MacBook is light weight and thin. The Retina display is completely amazing.

I've been a Mac laptop owner for 9 yrs. My previous Mac won't hold a charge anymore & a couple of the keys stick sometimes, otherwise it still works fine & speed is still good too. Even though I love the lighter weight, back lit keys & retina display on the new one, I've gotten a couple of errors I've never seen before on my old Mac. Frustrating that I'll have to go back to the store with it already; when I just got it 3 weeks ago. The anti-virus package that was included is a pain too. It's telling me I've got all these files & pics that are in danger & I haven't even transferred them over from my old laptop yet! Makes me wonder about the integrity of Mega Backup just trying to get me to spend more money. Never had it on my old laptop; don't think it's necessary (at least for me).

This is my first Mac, having been a DOS and then Windows guy since 1987. I had bought an XPS 13, which I really wanted to like, but the keyboard seemed to choose which keystrokes it wanted to recognize, and which ones it wanted to ignore. I had been tinkering with the MBP display model for a few months -- every time I'd visit Best Buy, and with the bad Dell experience, figured I'd give it a shot. All I can say is "What a nice machine!" Awesome display, glass trackpad, and yes, I'll say it: it just works. Even with the the brand new Dell, I had to wrestle with drivers and updates just to get things to work right. The MBP was smooth as butter right out of the gate. I'm still learning the lesser used shortcuts, but it only took about an hour to become familiar enough with the MBP to be productive. And IMO, with the higher-end Windows laptops getting so expensive, there's not a good economic reason not to try the switch to Mac, if you've been considering it. Oh -- there were some Windows programs I'd used for a while that I thought I couldn't live without, but I've found replacements for most of them, some better, some just about equal, but all good enough. If really pressed at some point, I can always buy Windows and run it in Bootcamp or Parallels, but I decided to avoid that as long as possible. So far, so good.

The Macbook Pro works as well as you would expect from its reputation. It is perfect for people wanting to do more than just browse the web. Plenty of power for design work, beautiful screen, very light, fantastic keys and trackpad, and generally stays cool and quiet. A case or sleeve is recommended to prevent scratches, but I've had no issues with this laptop.

rMBP holds up its quality for this year, again.

As everyone should be aware already, this year's iteration of the rMBP 13 brings extremely little new things to the table. From the first haswell model (late 2013 model) to this years broadwell 5th gen core i series, there has been barely any updates besides the obvious cpu change and SSD improvements which in real life has no real impact to most of the people in the market for these macbooks. Design remained same, battery life, theres barely any difference, the same old retina display that is still top notch. Despite its internal upgrades, as ive mentioned, improvements are really marginal at best, except in benchmark scores for the SSD, again, no real impact on everyday usage of the machine. The only physical difference is the "force touch" trackpad. Now this may be somewhat significant if you are the real click type of person, but for anyone like me, that are used to "tap to click", this force touch does very little for you, so little that it would be perfectly fine being called a gimmick. I simply don't use it. Exclusive functions linked to the force touch are all non necessary imo, and most of it could be done with different gestures such as three finger tap and such. Even if you were the clicking guy, previous trackpads were perfectly fine in the previous iterations. Since I got rid of my old rMBP, I could not compare it side by side at home with my new rMBP, but when I went to the store and tried it side by side, what I thought was correct. I do prefer clicking a bit more with the force click pressure setting set to low though. It just requires such minimal effort to click, that I really wouldnt mind going all click instead of tap. but tapping is just so easy, I do not feel the need. Now undoubtedly, trackpad is a very important aspect of a laptop, so this may be more significant to others than what I feel like it is, but wanted to give my 2 cents on the only aspect of the 2015 rMBP that needs to be reviewed, as everything else pretty much remains the same since the late 2013 version, despite the CPU upgrades. In all honesty, if you have the late 2013 rMBP or later, there is no need to upgrade to the 2015 version.

I recently upgraded to this laptop from the original macbook pro and I love it! It is has a lighter weight and has a hdmi cable on the side so that I can watch movies from my laptop on my tv. I use technology a lot for school and having this processor during finals for all of my projects and papers was very helpful. The battery life is also impeccable.

I was worried about the 13 inch screen size but with retina it is a non-issue - clear - vibrant - depth - easy on the eyes. Applications launch with speed - have yet to run into lock ups, crashing applications, etc. matter of fact - I run windows using parallels - and the office apps are the only apps that have issues. Trackpad is a really awesome feature.

This MacBook Pro was purchased to replace our previous MacBook Pro laptop, which is now over five years old and getting a little slow. No surprises with the new one. It performs as expected, right out of the box. I still enjoy watching DVDs, and would prefer to have retained the drive, but do appreciate the smaller size and weight of this new model.

Needed a speedy laptop that was easy to learn. My old one was 10 years old. It's speedy, light and comes with great features. Love that I can FaceTime with friends and family across the country. I also purchased Microsoft Office, just disappointed it didn't come with publisher. I think the gentleman that helped me was under the impression it did.

Was always a Windows user. This is my first Mac. I am completely sold on my Macbook Pro and wish I had made this choice of laptops years ago. EXTREMELY fast, smooth and very easy to operate. Everything work flawlessly. The answers to any questions I have about navigation and use are easily found in the Help on the Mac and through Apple Support.

I have been a Windows user until I bought this computer. It was a great decision to buy this lap top. I have an iPhone so it was not hard to adjust. After you switch to a Mac, you will never go back. So much easier to use. No pesky updates constantly. No updates that cause crazy behavior like I experienced with windows. Super fast and light weight.
