Being able to connect it to an iPad allows for quicker response time for correspondence purposes such as written documents, email, and other related tasks. This also allows convenience for times where another device is not available, or time and location may be a factor. The magnetic connection provides a physical security while portable. It also creates full coverage to the screen giving great protection while stored.

It’s a good backlit keyboard, the magnetic hold is strong, and even has a passthrough USB-C port to charge the iPad without sacrificing the regular port (which I use for a dock). It also has a touchpad, if you’re into that kind of thing. And no bluetooth nonsense to deal with. Again, my only misgiving is the price Apple sets for these.
