    Almost a laptop

It's a pretty nice keyboard; easy to type on and the keys are lighted, which was a surprise. However, you will have a heavy, bulky iPad once the keyboard is connected, and you cannot fold the keyboard completely back to use as a tablet - I guess you are supposed to undock when you want that kind of usage.. My intent is to replace a MacBook Pro with the smaller iPad Pro and this keyboard; I also needed a hub to convert from USB-C to everything else. Now that I'm done, I'm not sure I prefer this approach or simply buying another laptop, but I bought the iPad Pro off of my son who no longer wanted it; that's what sent me down this rabbit hole to begin with.

This replaced my older keyboard portfolio which had malfunctioning keys. This has a far superior keyboard and is heavier and offers greater protection. The one negative is that it doesn’t fold flat to function as function as a tablet, but the superior keyboard is worth the occasional times you need the tablet.

Great keyboard/cover combo but docked a star because it is so expensive. Biggest problem for me with phones and tablets is typing using a keyboard that eats up screen real estate. There are lots of keyboard options for tablets but this one really shines because of the quality of the keyboard and the east of attachment. I also like the ability to adjust the angle of the tablet after it is attached. The ability to use the keyboard with the tablet in profile orientation (rather than landscape) would be nice but would require serious design changes and probably quadruple the price.

This is my favorite iPad purchase of all time! The ease of use is great, and I love that it doesn’t need to be charged! It’s also great that if you have apple care on your iPad, this is covered from damage through Apple care! My iPad Pro instantly turns into a computer! I highly recommend this one! I got it open box in excellent condition, definitely worth saving the $50.

I've used this a lot with my iPad since I bought it and am happy with it. The magnetic docking feature is great and holds the iPad in place without any worry of it falling. Pros: Easy docking and charging. Just place the iPad in and it aligns and begins charging. ( this does require the keyboard to be wired to a charger). The track pad and keyboard are very responsive. Cons: It is not a protective case. The iPad edges are exposed so it offers little protection in that regard. Pricey - almost the price of a standard iPad. Drains the battery faster as it needs to use the iPad battery for the dock.

This keyboard is pretty impressive. It definitely turns my iPad Air 4 into a laptop. It is sleek and feels god in your hands. The keys feel nice and feel like a legit keyboard (unlike the Apple Smart keyboard, ugh). Anyways, I know the price tag is rather large, but it’s worth the investment. Once this Magic Keyboard is in your hands, everything else will pale in comparison.... including Logitech’s option.

This is a huge step up from that horrible mess of a keyboard from a few years ago. Seems Apple decided to start putting some design back into their products. I still can’t get over the Apple Pencil 1st gen and the lightning port on the bottom of the Magic Mouse. Price aside, I actually enjoy this device. It’s convenient, I like the trackpad (although I do have a couple gripes about it), and the ergonomics. Keyboard is responsive, I like the charging port allowing me to utilize the USB C port for external drives while on power. And I like the magnets making it a snap to just grab the iPad off the keyboard. Build quality is nice. Backlit keyboard works very well. It’s what you would expect from Apple ( If we forget about the couple years post Johnny Ive ) I guess the cons would be the tiny “Return” key. I miss that b**tard almost always. It is heavy. That silicone material is a pain to keep clean. It takes on everything. Oils from your hands etc., and it doesn’t wipe off without a liquid cleaner. Almost wish it had the aluminum on the outside, but I’m slightly OCD about that stuff. And lastly, it seems to drain my iPad quickly. I’ll have to really watch it and get some actual data on that. I have been using it nonstop since I bought it. And finally, I hate that you can’t scroll with the track pad. If you can, I haven’t figured it out. So for the most part I use the Magic Mouse instead. The trackpad can be nice, but also cumbersome for simple things I’m used to being able to do on the MacBook.

This keyboard is a joy to type on with great key travel and sufficient spacing between the keys. I also love the trackpad, which is small but performs beautifully. I get all the viewing angles I need for my different usage scenarios. Some reviews on YouTube made me worry that it would be too heavy for my liking, but it turned out to be still comfortably light and portable. It’s expensive but it’s well worth it for me.

Love this, easy to use and I like how it charges no cables hanging down from the side. I like it a lot better than the first iPad key board. It is easier to have the iPad stand than the other keypad version where you have to flip out the cover top it takes more room and really needs a table to use with keyboard. This keyboard you can also put and use on your lap easily

I have not been an iPad person. I bought an iPad in 2013, barely used it, and ended up selling it shortly after, never buying one again, until this year. The iPad itself wasn’t compelling enough to convince me to purchase, but when it began running its own, much more capable software, iPad OS (instead of being a blown up iPhone) the idea became much more intriguing. THEN, I saw the the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro advertisement and I was instantly sold. I almost immediately ordered an iPad and, nearly as soon as the Magic Keyboard could be ordered, I placed my order. Finally, the iPad can be a capable tablet and a much more capable computer replacement. I am using my magic keyboard to type this review. At first, I worried that the 11” version of the keyboard would be too crammed for comfort. I almost bought the bigger iPad so that I could have a full-sized keyboard. I am glad I didn’t. The 11” keyboard did take a little getting used to, but became a quick adaption. I can meet or exceed my typing speeds that I achieve on a traditional MacBook, full-sized, keyboard. The delete and return keys are shortened a bit, so that adjustment was the hardest part of adapting to the keyboard. The keys are tactile, yet on the quieter side. The backlighting is just as nice as it is on any recent MacBook keyboard. The function row of keys is missing, which is a little bit of an adjustment when you are used to having those. Really, though, all of the adjustments that could be made with the function row are quicker and easier to access on the iPad and its touch screen than they are on a MacBook, so missing that row is a quick and easy adjustment, leaving the only really missed key being the escape key (though this can even be rerouted and another key can be used as the escape key). The trackpad feels great, sleek and smooth. The palm rests have a soft nature to them rather than the cool, jagged edge you can feel while on a MacBook. The hinge itself is great and strong. It provides resistance, that it can be a little difficult to figure out the ideal way of opening the case with the iPad inside. The magnets provide a strong confidence that your iPad is secure and safe while in place. As soon as the iPad is docked, the keyboard and trackpad are ready to use, with no lag holding you up. This works every bit as smoothly and seamlessly as a MacBook’s keyboard and trackpad, but has a more modern appeal to the way the curser looks and magnifies areas where it hovers. I do not find myself needing a wider range of flexibility for viewing angels. I typically sit either at a desk on the couch with my legs crossed with this iPad and the Magic Keyboard tandem resting on my lap. I am so happy to report that this really does work well as a “lap” top, in the ways I use it. The case itself is heavy - like in similar weight as the iPad itself. It has to be in order to balance the top-heavy design it has when the iPad is connected. The material is very appealing, though I hear it doesn’t wear well over time (though I have no reason to support this idea itself, yet, through my personal use). The material is soft, yet smooth. It looks great in its all black design with its subdued Apple logo on the back. The Magic Keyboard case, in all of the great things I have to say about it, does not have a “tablet” mode other than simply and easily removing the iPad itself and going from there. For this reason, I have an inexpensive backup magnetic folio case to snap my iPad into and out of when I want to simply use my iPad in tablet mode. I am uncomfortable using my iPad “naked” and always want my iPad to be protected, especially the protruding lenses on the back side. I applied a d-brand skin to the back of my iPad, too, and this has not hindered using the Magic Keyboard in the least. Overall, this case looks great, feels great, functions extremely well, and has overall made my iPad capable of replacing my computer in most cases (though not all, yet, due to limitations in the software itself; the hardware is exceedingly capable and, more times than not, even more capable than my MacBook). I would not have made this leap for any other iPad keyboard, as I always find there to be an issue that makes it not laptop like. I am a lover of a traditional laptop, so it really has to be something for me to want to move over to doing most of my work on an iPad. This Magic Keyboard has changed the way I will use a “computer” and I believe will continue to pave the path to making the iPad line more and more capable of replacing the traditional laptop as software evolves to catch up with the hardware. This year, I was going to upgrade my current MacBook to a MacBook Pro (since they now have the new scissor-switch keyboard), but the Magic Keyboard was released for the iPad Pro line and compelled me to purchase the iPad setup instead of making that decision and I am very happy with the decision I made.

Although its A lil PRICEY, YOU GET WHAT YA PAY for! And this is an awesome Swiss Army Knife of kewl. Its keyboard, like REAL keyboard, its backlit, and its a chargable case that helps to charge other Apple Peripherals? I was Sold, and my wife fell in love with it once she began long winded emails and realized that onscreen touch keyboard was a thing of her past.

Great option to complement an iPad and make it closer to an actual laptop. Good heft to it, key’s are bright and give a pleasant typing experience. Magnetic back holds very well to my iPad. It’s definitely expensive, but having tried competitors like Logitech’s ComboTouch, I still prefer the Magic Keyboard. It’s hard to beat the seamless integration offered by APple products; I simply attached the case and it worked, without any sort of first-time setup or Bluetooth connectivity.

The magic keyboard works great with the iPad 11 Pro. In fact, I am typing the review with the keyboard now. Typing on it feels very similar to typing on a laptop. It’s easy to attach to and to remove from the iPad. The iPad can be tilted at several different angles with the Magic keyboard. It also provides nice protection to the iPad when not in use.

Initial Inquiry & Decision: To enhance productivity on my iPad Air 11-inch, I chose the Magic Keyboard for its comfortable typing, trackpad support, and magnetic design for easy attachment and adjustment. Unboxing, Build Quality, & Testing: The Magic Keyboard features quiet, responsive backlit keys with a scissor mechanism offering 1mm key travel for a satisfying typing experience. Its floating cantilever design magnetically attaches to the iPad Air, allowing smooth angle adjustments for optimal viewing. The trackpad is fully integrated with iPadOS, enabling precise cursor control and multitouch gestures. The built-in USB-C connector provides pass-through charging, freeing up the iPad’s port for other accessories. When folded, it serves as a protective case, covering both front and back, ideal for safe travel. Overall Impressions and Recommendation: The Magic Keyboard is an excellent companion for the iPad Air 11-inch, combining comfort, versatility, and protection in a compact design. Perfect for users seeking to turn their iPad into a more laptop-like productivity device while maintaining portability.

It took some time getting used to the keyboard, but this Magic Keyboard really changes your experience on an iPad. I love the option of using a track pad and I like the high quality feel. Also, the magnetic iPad mount really make this simple to get started with. I attempted to replace my laptop with my iPad, but I’ll be honest... you have to set your expectations based on specific use cases. This keyboard does not make your iPad have the exact feel of a regular laptop. It is a lot closer and great for carrying to meetings and using cloud based apps though. Finally, having two USB-C ports (iPad + one the magic keyboard) is a great feature that you gain. The case ended up being a little heavier than I thought, but I actually became OK with this because it doesn’t tip over and does not feel the least bit flimsy. Now, for the negatives... I still give this 5 stars for my purposes but I will say I also bought a secondary case for when I want to use the Apple Pencil and write or draw on the iPad. If you get this case, you will want a second (probably relatively cheap) case for having the iPad lay flat on a surface. This case is not designed for that use case.

This is a good choice for attachable keyboard for the 5th gen iPad air. I wish it would fold open to make it easier to hold instead of having disconnect the iPad, but we knew that going in. We do love the fact that it easily snaps onto the keyboard and you can charge your connected hardware (pen and iPad). It is also a bit on the pricy side so if you're on a budget, you might find better alternatives.
