Yes, it’s on the pricey side—but if you catch it on sale and are looking for a high-quality, portable laptop replacement, it’s well worth the investment. As someone who regularly uses the iPad 12.9 for both work and leisure, I’ve found the Apple Magic Keyboard to be a game-changer. When I first attached it to my iPad, I was immediately impressed by how seamlessly it connected—no Bluetooth pairing or fiddling required. The magnetic attachment is strong enough to keep everything secure, yet it’s easy to detach when I need to switch between tablet mode and laptop mode. The typing experience is excellent. I’ve been able to type for hours without discomfort, and the key travel is just right—not too shallow, not too deep. I also love how quiet the keys are, which makes it perfect for working in quiet environments, like coffee shops or libraries. The trackpad is another major plus—it's large, responsive, and smooth, which makes navigating and multitasking feel natural, especially when I’m switching between apps or working with documents. The design is sleek and feels premium, with the floating feature that allows the iPad to hover just above the keyboard at the perfect angle for both typing and viewing. The angle adjustment is smooth, and the build quality is rock-solid. It really feels like a true extension of the iPad rather than just a third-party accessory. That said, there are some trade-offs. The weight and bulk that come with the Magic Keyboard are noticeable. The iPad 12.9 already has a bit of heft to it, and adding the keyboard makes it feel more like a full laptop, which isn’t always ideal when I’m on the go. I also can’t ignore the price—it’s definitely an investment, and while I feel it’s worth it for the convenience and quality, I can understand if it’s a stretch for some. Overall, the Magic Keyboard has transformed the way I use my iPad, turning it into a more capable, portable workstation. If you're someone who relies on your iPad for productivity and don’t mind the extra weight and cost, I highly recommend it. But if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option or need something lighter for occasional use, it might not be the best fit.

We have two college students, so we had to purchase two separate and very different laptops. My son is a Music major so he picked the Apple iPad Pro 13 inch. This is perfect for him. It operates the same as a computer when the keyboard is attached. He is able to compose music on it as well as do his class work. He is also able to detach the keyboard and use it for his sheet music while performing. It is very versatile and works very well for his needs.

When I first got it, I was worried I couldn't angle it correctly like my non-ipad pro, which has a separate back w/kick stand, and the keyboard quickly detaches. This is both the back and keyboard, but you CAN angle it - so this IS better.

Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) The build quality and functionality are excellent — it’s a premium keyboard that truly transforms the iPad into a laptop-like device. That said, it’s heavier than my MacBook Air M2, and I often found myself detaching the iPad just to write more comfortably. If you don’t already own a MacBook, this is a great way to get that full laptop experience. But if you do have a MacBook, I’d recommend going with the lighter Smart Folio instead; it’s a better complement to an existing laptop setup. The price does seem to be a little too high for this keyboard as well.

Bought this keyboard first and felt it was very good quality. Felt good to type on it. However, for my use it wasn’t as flexible as I wanted.

It feels great and works flawlessly, as expected from Apple. It's just so expensive :'(

Had the older version for my last iPad Pro, the bigger track pad makes a huge difference. Keys are responsive and feel great when typing, the added USB-C port adds an extra input while charging. I liked the old one but this one is even better.

I’m really impressed with this product. The performance is fast, smooth, and very reliable. The build quality feels premium and everything works exactly as expected. Setup was easy and the screen is super bright and sharp. Definitely worth the purchase — highly recommended.

I've had these magic keyboards on 10, 11 and 13 inch ipads. They are simply the best. Love it on my 13in ipad even more. Almost no need for a computer whatsoever! I truly have nothing bad to say about these keyboards. I've owned several other types over the years and none are even on the same playing field honestly. It's worth the money!

It looks great and works perfectly. It does not add much weight so it’s easy to travel with and is a perfect stand for airplanes.

Keyboard is lit up with large enough keys to fit fingers comfortably! Feels just like a laptop keyboard even though fit for iPad!! Definitely recommend if you don’t want to be held down to only touch screen typing, key strokes, etc!!

I am pleased with the product. I paid to have the item delivered within a very short time frame. Best Buy did not disappoint!

Works seamlessly with the iPad pro. Unlike some other keyboards, it charges directly from the iPad instead of needing to be plugged into the wall separately. The iPad connects to the keyboard via magnet and even tilts for better viewing. Only issue is that the base could be a little heavier in order to prevent tipping backwards when it is sitting on your lap and you shift around.
