Customers commend the Smart Battery Case for its extended battery life, which comes in handy when a charger is unavailable. They also appreciate the case's design, protection, and the convenience of using a lightning cable. However, some users find the case to be heavy and a bit pricey.

Gives you plenty of extra battery life. Feels nice in your hand while holding it. One con I have is that it adds bulk which makes it harder to fit in your pockets. Another con is that it does not work with BOSE QC15 headset adapter. Also, this case is very expensive. Overall great phone case.

If you're looking for a battery for your iPhone 6 or 6s, then look no further. Because this case is made by Apple, it's the only one that communicates with the phone and tells the phone you're using a battery and not plugged into the wall at home. This is vital because when you plug in at home, the phone begins to do a ton of things that drain the battery. That's counterproductive to charging on the go. Also, it feels great in the hand.

Notice I didn't say it's bulky. The funny look of the case adds to the minimalistic aesthetics and keeps the over phone slim instead of making the entire phone round just to eliminate the profusion of the battery. Also, the silicone case has a nice feel to it, and it never collects much lint like some others talk about. Easy one piece to install, take off. I love how it interacts with iOS, telling the batter on the dash and it discharges first, then the internal phone battery discharges. If you have a higher amp charger, it can charge both the iPhone and case at the same time. If not, it'll charge the phone first, then the case. The only caveat, and the 1 star loss, is it adds extreme weight to the phone. More than doubles the weight of my iPhone 6. Just don't drop it on your face when you read them late night blogs or instagram posts in your bed ;)

I hated having my phone plugged into the wall at the office during the day especially those days I'm swamped with meetings. I used to end my work day with about 10% battery left. I would then have to plug in for a bit just to make it to an after work dinner/happy hr. With this battery case, I can almost make it 2 days (depending on usage) without plugging in to charge. I used to use another brand battery case, but having another type of cable was annoying. I like using my original lightning cable. Apple has done a really great job with this case. Although its appearance may not be appealing to some, it actually feels great when holding the phone. Also, its great picking up the phone when its laying on a flat surface.

Love the case! Doubles the weight easily of the phone. Prior to purchasing I felt like I was charging my phone all day every day to so I could have a charge until bed time. With this case I do not charge it at all during the day. Best part is that I am able to use same lightening cable to charge both at once. I highly recommend and the unorthodox design of the case is surprisingly comfortable.

Great case, but I’m not sure I would buy the “open box” again. When I opened the packaging the case fell out of the box and hit the floor. It was literally open box! The case is really great though like most Apple products. It works seemlessly with the phone and there are no annoying buttons. It is lightweight and easy to take on and off unlike other comparable products.

Disappointed with charging my 6S almost every day. Light usage would get me two days. The battery case extended that to 3 to 5 days, and gave me a nice grip on the phone.
Don't know about the protection, since it hasn't been given the 4 foot drop test yet.

I frequently work in areas where cell reception is not optimal, and power for charging isn't always available. I tried separate battery chargers but carrying an extra brick wasn't convenient. So, I decided a battery case may be a good option. I looked at several and for maximum compatibility and convenience I went with the Apple Smart Battery case. It does a fine job and met all my expectations. The only downside is the price. $69 retail is in my opinion the sweet spot, but people generally expect to pay more for Apple products.
The case works well, feels and looks good. 4 stars due to the price.

The fact that this has a lightning connection and is able to dock anywhere your case-less phone can dock is reason enough to buy it. Add that there is no switch to turn it on/off and this becomes a no-brainer. It's like having double battery life without a lot of bulk and it has a nice feel to it that represents Apple products well. Don't hesitate on this one.

This is my personal review:
This Beluga-looking iPhone case is probably one of the best investments I have made so far for my phone. I'm a heavy phone user because of my job, and I do not get past 2PM with more than 20% of battery left on the primary battery, so this is a great supplemental product.
This case is bulky and will make your device heavier! I personally do not mind the heaviness or the bulk and it fits in my pocket just fine (I wear regular fit jeans). You're going to have a bad time if you wear skinny jeans or butt-tight J-Lo pants!
I bought the space-gray looking case and it looks alright. More like a clay-looking gray but I can't complain. The external surface is like a hard rubber, but the good kind. The kind that won't slip from your hands if you happen to suffer from butter fingers. Warning! If you have oily fingers or have touched something oily or greasy or watery, it will show on the case! But it is easy to clean with a cloth.
Internally the case has this suede-looking feel to it and it is soft, it makes it look pricey, but you're just paying 100 bucks + tax for it.
The functionality of the case is what convinced me to purchase it: for starters the installation is not that bad because the case is only 1 piece, not multiple like other cases. All you have to do is pull back and hold the top part of the case, slide your phone in until it connects to the lightning charger and unfold the top part again and its installed. Next, the volume buttons work like a charm and I've had no trouble with them, the silent/ring space can be easily accessed even if you have no fingernails. Power button is gucci. And finally the #1 reason why I bought it: it has a lightning end to it, so you don't have to swap in between micro-USB or lightning cables, you can still use the same cable as before.
The phone has a separate area for the mic/speaker which is great because the mic is closer to your mouth instead of away, and the speaker is about the same quality as the iPhone, slightly better, but hardly noticeable.
HOW IT WORKS (must read): you have absolutely no control of the charge. The case will continue to charge your phone until the battery on the case is depleted first. There is no on/off button on the case. If you plug your phone in WITH the case on, it will charge both devices at the same time (phone and case), but the charging distribution leans more towards sending most of the power to the phone first and the smaller charge to the the case (think 90/10). Regardless I highly recommend that when charging time comes that you plug your phone in with the case on for best results.
What I do not like is the 3.5mm headphone jack; it is deeeeeep. To give you an idea, if you were to connect your OEM apple earbuds to the case, you would have to pull on the CABLE to disconnect it, rather than the hard plastic-looking end. And the wired headphones you use HAVE to be like the OEM apple ones, so forget about using your L-shaped headphones if they have a short end. Personally I don't use the wired headphones as much, I have wireless headphones. I recommend the Sony MDR-AS600BT (hunnit bucks + tax)
Protection... I don't know but I pray to the phone gods that I don't crack this screen because the edge protection on this case is thin, but BARELY covers the edges. I installed a screen protector for extra security, and I recommend you do the same if you plan on purchasing this case.
Its also ideal if you play Pokemon Go, because you can have everything at the palm of your hand rather than carrying a portable battery.

This battery case by apple is a very nice vase. When I first got it my concern was the back with the bugle but after 2 weeks the back does not affect me, it took a little getting use to but now its fine. It takes battery life from the case first then the phone, with decent amount of use your phphone ne will stay at 100% and your case will stay at 30-40%.

I have been using a competitors battery case on my last two iPhones. I thought I would give the Apple case a go even though others hadn't given it the best reviews. The battery in the Apple case lasts longer then the other brand.

Purchased this battery case because it has a lightening port rather than the micro usb that most other battery cases have. I was a little apprehensive with the design but am very happy with it after using it for a while.
The charging is seamless and there is no switch to have to manage on the battery case, it's always on and always connected and automatically switches over from the case to the phone when the case battery is depleted.

Fits perfect. A little heavy but I like the weight. I have had this for about 6 months now. Like all apple products I own this one is well built and I have not had any problems with it at all. Keeps my phone charged all day. I play a lot of games on my phone and the charge lasts all day. Great product.

Unlike competing products this doesn’t need a switch to go between external and internal battery. It essentially acts as a seemless larger battery for the iPhone. Being able to use the Lighting charging port means that I can use the same cable for my iPhone and iPad when I travel

I bought two of these for my teenage sons this past year. They really extend their battery time by so much and they are good protection for the phone. Even with constant streaming, snapchatting, etc, the kids have charge for at least a whole day and night. I decided to buy them after observing how long my husband good go between charges with this. He purchased one before a four day camping trip and his phone stayed charged for four days! It is reassuring to know that my kids aren't going to get caught with a dead battery when they are away from home and need to reach me.

Works great, fits nice, I like that the phone uses up the external case battery first and keeps the phone battery at 100% until the external battery is at 0. It is a little pricey.

If you can get over the 'hump' on the back, this case works great. It's convenient being able to charge the case with a lightning instead of the typical micro usb. My battery is nearly doubled with this case on and I can be on my phone all day and still have juice to spare come evening. Also, its worth noting that the case is or feels very small compared to most other battery cases. The only negative I experienced was the silicone material tends to catch pocket lint easily.

I like this product. It works well. I only have a couple minor complaints. First, I don't like how you can't turn off the charging feature of the case. I'm coming from a mophie and that was a change for myself. Another, is the price of the case when there are better and cheaper alternatives. I thought the hump on the back was going to be weird, but I kind of like it. The case feels great in the hand.

I've used 3rd party battery cases for iPhones for a few years now, with varying success, when my last iPhone 6 case broke I shopped around and read reviews on the Apple case - it lives up to expectations, some of the 3rd party cases don't have lightning connectors or won't easily switch between charging the case and charging the phone - this does both seamlessly and as a bonus the case reports back the battery % to the lock screen or notification bar.
