I bought a macbook pro retina and it did not have a CD drive. i don't usually need one but i did not want to realize the need when i am actually trying to use it so i bought it right away. Best part is you just plug it in like any other usb device and you are ready to go. everything just works. that alone is work the price tag.

Actually a really good price for this unit that plays all of your discs. In a world where discs seem obsolete, this price point makes this a good to have accessory since there will always be that one time where you’re going to need it. Easy setup.

Easy setup and works exactly as desired. Have been spending past month and a half loading my 200 plus music cds into itunes and so far so good. The speed of download easily goes as high as 27x, but it really depends on the cd recording and not the player. Have not played a dvd yet but it should not be a problem.

The newer iMacs don't come with an internal CD drive, so I was glad that Best Buy had one for a lot less than I was anticipating. It hooked right up, I popped in a CD, and iTunes asked me if I wanted to copy it.

The price you pay for having an ultra thin, lightweight MacBook or a new iMac is that you have to purchase items that used to be installed internally. Apple says digital media is on the way out. Might be. But I still burn hundreds of disks annually in my dental office. Would prefer the internal drive any day.

The drive for me was a necessary accessory for business and recreational purposes, and performs just as exceptional as you'd expect this product to do. I'm able to be more productive while taking full advantage of the potential of my Apple device.

This drive works perfectly with my Macbook Pro Retina, and does both reads and burns as needed. I've backed up and digitized my music and movie library with it, and it's more than paid for itself. Frustrating that my laptop does not come native with this functionality, but savings of power and weight are appreciated.

Perfect drive for iMac. I purchased this drive to backup all of my music CDs to a hard drive and the cloud. I’ve been steadily using it for 6 months without any issues. Easy to install and, so far it holds up to heavy usage. Great choice!

This is a really solid drive. The case is solid aluminum, the cable is permanently attached to the back, and the slot loading is quiet and strong. The connector is an old USB square end - to use USB-C you'll need an adapter (no idea why Apple made this with this semi-obsolete connector when everything they sell is now USB-C). This is now a necessary evil with Ventura Mac OS. Apple did away with support for third party drives. If you need to read or write CD's, play or write DVD's, this is the only drive that works.

With so much on the fly work these days, it’s good to keep a disc drive handy that works seamlessly and effortlessly with your MacBook. I have only used it a few times, but it was a lifesaver each time.

I recently needed to load data to my MacAir from a disc so I picked up an Apple SuperDrive from Best Buy, plugged it in and with no setup it worked perfectly. I have several computers and switch between platforms with Apple and Microsoft operating systems. Apple hardware still wins for simplicity and ease of use.
