It has performed well, and as expected, I use it on a new iMac, and once it's plugged into the USB it is good to go. I have not burned anything as of yet, but my primary use is as an external disc drive, or ripping audio and video discs into my library. The only downside I would mention is the fact that it takes up a USB port on my iMac, and those are limited to begin with. While the sleek design is stylish on the new iMacs, leaving some width to have a built in drive is preferable for me.

We recently bought the new Mac laptop which doesn't have a built in disk drive. This was the next option, it's compact and easy to use.

Great product easy to set up great price fast drive

I have only used it a couple of times, but is as easy as put in and click play. It is a hassle to carry along, but sacrifices for a lighter and slimmer macbook make up for it. If you use laptop on a table, then it works fine, but the cord is not long enough to utilize MacBook Air on your lap or laptop table. It just want to hang.

Good design, compact, attractive. Works out just fine.

So I got this drive because I got a MacBook without one and there was software that I required onto my laptop that only came in disk form. Just plug into the laptop and it's good to go and it's fast when importing music cd's so overall good product 5 stars

I wish I would have bought this sooner. I watch DVD’s with my desktop computer. It is very easy to use. It loads the movie easily, and is not complicated at all. I love to pull out my old movies and watch them.

purchased this superdrive along with the apple remote,,i love watching my dvds with this superdrive,,works great,,wish the apple remote worked with it so i dont have to keep getting up to press play and pause,,,,but it doesnt,,so i returned the remote.,,Please make the remote compatible with new macbook!

Pretty much everything is downloadable now, so Apple figures you don't need a disc drive. Plus it helps keep the display/laptop really thin. But there are always exceptions. My old iMac had a built-in drive, and I just can't go without one completely, so it's a must for me. Easy to install and doesn't take up much space.

Like most apple items the price could be better, but it works, looks nice and doesn't take up a lot of room.

This thing works well. Durn and rip DVD and cd. It is quiet and easy to install. Clean lines it looks great under the iMac.

The device does what it needs to do in my opinion. At the end of the day it is a CD drive. I only got it because I recently got a mac mini and wanted to do some video editing and compilations and needed to take videos off of CD's. I don't think it should be the price that it is, that's only because of it's name. I like uniformity so if I buy something apple that I want to purchase another apple product with it. But I think if you can get away with it, then you could go with another product.

It works just like it should. Apple took the disc ports out of their new Macbooks, because they thought people were moving away from using CDs and DVDs. If you watch a lot of DVDs on your computer like me and you have a new macbook you'll need one of these.

Awesome drive... Very easy to use...Fast fast fast...

Easy setup and works exactly as desired. Have been spending past month and a half loading my 200 plus music cds into itunes and so far so good. The speed of download easily goes as high as 27x, but it really depends on the cd recording and not the player. Have not played a dvd yet but it should not be a problem.

I bought a macbook pro retina and it did not have a CD drive. i don't usually need one but i did not want to realize the need when i am actually trying to use it so i bought it right away. Best part is you just plug it in like any other usb device and you are ready to go. everything just works. that alone is work the price tag.

The price you pay for having an ultra thin, lightweight MacBook or a new iMac is that you have to purchase items that used to be installed internally. Apple says digital media is on the way out. Might be. But I still burn hundreds of disks annually in my dental office. Would prefer the internal drive any day.
