I like the size and easy of connection to my new Imac but felt it should have been included with purchase of the Imax, the additional cost to purchase was a bit of a irritation.

Another quality Mac product, small, thin, my only preference was that Mac had this drive installed right in there monitor, on the positive side if I need to I can use the drive else where because it's portable. Haven't had an issues to date and like all Mac products it takes some getting used to but once your used to there stuff you have no thought of going back to any kind of windows based product, thumbs up love it!

Easy too use, just sad it's not integrated into the laptop, but I guess it's the price you pay for such nice laptop... Not too much usage as most programs can now be loaded from the web but for me I prefer CDs as backup, I know it's old fashion and they are prone to scratches but I'm getting there with technology.. No problems thus far to report, like all apple products, it is a very nice design... Not bulky at all.

Works Great With My MacBook Pro

My new MacBook Pro didn't come with an internal drive, so I needed an external one. This is the first laptop I've owned that didn't have an internal drive. It connects to my MacBook Pro through a USB cable.
I've used the drive to burn some home movies to disc both as mp4 files and DVD video files to play in my home DVD player (using some 3rd party software since iMovie doesn't seem to be able to create video discs that play on a home DVD player).
The drive is fast and quiet. So far everything has worked great!

As an owner of a rMBP 13.3" (late 2013), MBA 13.3" (mid 2013) and iMac 21" 2013, I was able to confirm that the Apple - SuperDrive works seamlessly across all my machines.
Although most of the content I consume is digitally delivered and mostly via iTunes I do find the occasional software that is sold on DVD for which I use this drive.
The Apple - SuperDrive has the same aluminum finish as my MacBooks and has a sleek look. The slot loading mechanism works very well. It does what it is supposed to do.

As a Professional DJ I needed to add a drive to my Mac Mini/Macbook Pro for rendering my CD mixes to MP3 Format so I can stream then online.
Once a CD is inserted in the drive an Icon appears on the desktop which when clicked upon opens Itunes, where you can import and encode the file.
The drive is also handy for backing up software and copying CDs at a quick rate!

I bought this so that I would have a disc drive for my new Retina MacBook Pro. For a DVD drive it does its job well. As an added bonus it matches my laptop perfectly. There is just not anything too exciting or special that separates it from other external drives other than the look and materials used. I suppose it would be easy to use with a Mac and that's definitely a bonus. My only real complaint is the super short cord length. It would be nice for it to have something a bit longer. I realize it may be best to keep the computer and the drive stable together on a table its just that the length is somewhat inconvenient.

Plugs in easily
No mess, no fuss
Works quickly and stores conveniently
I had to get it as " **** tax" only makes CD's not USB's yet; hopefully they will make one for 2018.
