Customers are impressed with the Apple TV's ease of use, intuitive interface, and the functionality of its remote and Siri integration. Many appreciate the access to the App Store and the streaming capabilities, along with the improved performance and picture quality. While some wish for a simpler setup process and a lower price point, the lack of 4K support is also a frequently cited drawback.

The new Apple TV does so many things. Of course it streams Movies, TV and music etc from the Apple store but there is so much more. Hulu, Netflix and many other streaming services have apps available for Apple TV and the remote with the touch pad works very well. Everything loads or searches very quickly for me on Apple TV. We have game controllers (1 Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i and one micro C.T.R.L.i) and play hours of Zen Pinball and occasionally a few other games on Apple TV. The games look great and play smoothly.
My favorite thing ABOUT using the Apple TV (rather than my favorite thing TO use if for) is the remote. It has a volume control that works through HDMI-CEC to adjust the volume of your TV or soundbar. I can also use the Sharp TV remote to navigate the Apple TV. The Sharp remote is crummy so I don't do it a lot but if you are just playing the next episode of something in Hulu or Netflix it is great not having to find the correct remote.
I think this generation of Apple TV will be around for several years and keep getting more and more content on apps to choose from.

Coming from the third generation Apple TV, the first thing I noticed was how much more streamlined the interface was. Not only did it feel much more modern, but it was noticeably faster as well. I appreciate the approach of allowing me to download "Channels" as "Apps" so I'm not scrolling thru what feels like 100 channels in little square rows & columns to find the 10-15 that I actually utilize. The pairing of WiFi + Apple TV settings from iOS is much more fluid than it was previously.
The deduction of 1 star was for the lack of attention given to "Home Sharing." I have a vast music and movie library and while Siri and other enhancements to the UI have been made to make it easier to find items purchased thru iTunes/Apple, it seems like you're being punished for those items that did not come from iTunes. For instance, I have 300 movies. I have to sift thru those as a long list of items, when it wouldn't take much effort on Apple's part to at least add in a search field at the top of the list.Or if that's too much work, add different "View" types such as icon or grid view that could allow me to see my movies as Poster Arts, for instance. Or allow better organization such as by genre or year.
It's worth noting that as of today, a new version of TVOS does allow for the use of the Remote app from either your iOS device or Apple Watch and there is a limit on the size (200MB or 1/5 of a GB) of apps that developers can submit into the app store so for most people the 32GB should be more than sufficient unless you plan on having every app from the App Store installed on your device.

We love the new features of this generation. The apps, games, siri voice control are all great upgrades over the previous generation of AppleTV and it drastically improves the functions of my smart TV. The touch remote is great too and I love that it connects via bluetooth meaning I don't need line of sight to control the box. If you use other Apple products like the iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc...this is a great companion.

Purchased as a Christmas present and it doesn't work. I missed the holiday return policy by 1 d ay and the store won't exchange it. Told me to bring to Apple store. Impossible to get genius bar appointment when I am not working ie. evening or weekend. Very frustrating. Worst christmas purchase ever.

I am a huge fan of apple products but... They fell short with this one.
First of all the remote with touch pad is hard to get use to, and hard to control.
The games are not worth getting.
I have used both the Amazon and the Roku, and I think they are both way better then the Apple TV.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my previous Apple TV, having said that, I was looking at the new "bells and whistles" that the newest generation could bring. Well, I like the remote, from Siri to using the tracking pad, it is easy to use. It also works well with my Logitech remote control (although the logitech does not support Siri)
Things that I did not like much... I have a high end equipment already set up, and I was bummed that there was no optical wire connection on the new model. This was a headache to sort out again since I was hoping to do the plug and play as the previous model.
Outside of that, at the moment, and I know that it will change as more people develop apps for the new apple tv, but there just don't seem to be new things to take advantage of the full capabilities. I do recommend it but with a few reservations.

It would appear that Apple products are continuing their takeover of the lifestyle market and the enhancements made to the latest version of the Apple TV are leaps and bounds worth the upgrade. Instantly turning television viewing into an interactive experience that is at your mercy; the beautifully detailed, soft-focus interface also makes for an engaging difference from the previous dark environment.

If you are an Apple person or don't have a smart tv and you need a streaming box you have to get this. You can play games on this TV!!! It is like having a $179 iPad. The remote is the coolest thing ever. It is touch control and has a little square space that is like a mouse. The interface is super fast and the best thing about it (I had not read this before), you can literally swipe on the remote while watching a program and fast forward or rewind many minutes at a time, it is not like the fast forwarding on a DVR. I find myself hardly using the DVR and only going to the Apple TV for Hulu. It would allow me to cut the cord once they provide local sports.

I've had an AppleTV since they first came out a few years ago and I finally decided to make the leap and get the upgrade.
First of all, I love the flexibility I get in terms of what apps I can choose to have on my device. Before you were given them all and you couldn't delete or add. Now there's an App Store and you can include games, video streaming, etc...
I also love the upgrade to the remote. It has a touch screen key pad and it operates like a touch pad mouse -- it's clickable and intuitive.
The device is easier to turn off than ever, which I love. And the shortcut buttons on the remote are incredibly useful. I only need minimal clicks to get out of my Netflix shows and back to my main screen, where Siri can direct me to a selection of movies to rent based on my mood.
My big love of the AppleTV is how easily it becomes a home theatre. I've spent years investing in it, making all my new movie purchases on iTunes. It's accessible on all of my devices in addition to the AppleTV and it's one less thing I have to worry about.

A must-have for Apple iDevice Fans

This is my 4th Apple TV (2 second Gens, 1 3rd Gen, and now 1 4th Gen). If you are already in the Apple-eco system, this purchase is a no-brainer, as it simply works/talks with most of your other Apple i-Devices. Obviously what sets this Apple TV apart from its predecessors is its ability to play games. Mind you that there are not yet available a large amount of games, they are surely on their way (as was the case when the iPads were first released). The newly designed remote is a pleasure to use for playing games, browsing through your collection of movies, or simply browsing the App store. Try it out. If you are not happy, simply return it during the return window. By the way, I own and use the first Gen Amazon Fire TV as well. If you are not happy with your aTv 4, try the Amazon FTV.

For starters, if you aren't already invested in the Apple ecosystem or plan to do so, this is not likely for you. Otherwise, having this device can be pretty handy. While my smart TV from a few years ago and even my blu-ray player are capable of handling some of the items the Apple TV can do such as Netflix (and some that it can't, like Amazon Prime Video), the Apple TV has a lot more to offer.
For one, it has an app store ilke every other Apple device today that is constantly expanding what can be done. It's fairly limited compared to a Mac or an iOS device, but it still offers a lot. Besides streaming services, there's also access to TV channel apps, games, social media, and other utilities. What's most useful about this, is the remote contains Siri (which I've only used a bit but will let you speak your search terms outloud) and a great trackpad that is oh-so-useful.
I was able to setup a lot of this box by just pairing it with my iPhone and confirming its access via bluetooth, so it had all my other account info quite quickly. It needed an update out of the box for its OS but it was rather fast, and this is all over wifi as well.
Another big draw to this, is that you can mirror any other device from Apple onto Apple TV. So whatever is on your iPhone or iPad could be displayed for everyone to see for whatever you may need.
It's not the most essential device for the home, but it can be pretty useful and I find its interface to be quite nifty and well executed.
