The Apple TV 4th gen is a little misunderstood. It does do siri search and opens up the app store. The complaints I have seen mostly and I can't disagree is that the remote app for the 1st - 3rd gen doesn't work on it. I imagine they will update it at some point, or release something new. It also does not allow a Bluetooth keyboard to work with it as of yet. The advantages in my opinion far outweigh those two complaints though. You can have siri bring up movies starring a particular actor on netflix or a certain style of movie. It really has saved me some wasted time browsing for something to watch. I think Apple has done it again.

I had the prior generation which I liked a lot but this one take it to another level. Now you have Siri and the App Store added and a sleek controller you can play games with.

Nice update to TV. We still use our 3rd gen  TVs as well. It's nice to have the App Store on this one, game play is smooth. The updated UI is very clean. The updated on-screen keyboard is eh. Currently the remote app and the bluetooth keyboard are not an option to type in long strings of characters. And it seems at times the remote doesn't wake from sleep right away or the  TV doesn't wake right away, not sure which it is, but you have to press the buttons on remote repeatedly to wake the system up. Either way I like it over all and am sure  will correct many of these minor issues in a future update.

What a great upgrade from the last Apple TV. Love the remote plus the ability to download apps. Improved wifi speed. Experience will only improve with release of more apps.

Fast, great remote control, Siri, and can now download apps. This is only going to get better as developers create more apps.

I've been an apple fan for years. They make a product that just works as advertised. Looking forward to the app store on the TV. Just wish that they had included 4K support

It's almost like having the 3rd Gen Apple TV with an App Store and cool remote. The remote is a pain to type with and I'd recommend investing in a cheap Bluetooth keyboard. Other than that, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

This latest media device from Apple hands down is a winner. With the introduction of the new TVOS a huge selection of games and third party apps have been introduced!

The unit is easy to set up and worked perfectly out of the box. I actually found myself so enamored with the screen saver, it would be with getting by itself. (Birdseye views of cities around the world.) The selection of apps is good and gaming is excellent.

I had the Apple TV 2 before and this one far exceeds my expectations. Being that you can download apps from the App store for this device rather than have apps pre-loaded, this means that you can download games which turns this into a gaming entertainment device! My family loves it! We can bowl together without ever having to leave home. My kids have their own apps they can use and I can download ones for myself. I also like the fact that this remote is bluetooth activated over IR which keeps me from having the remote pointed directly at the box to make it pick up my commands. I highly recommend this!

LOVE this device. We have kids and have so many Disney movies, as well as the digital copy for each one. So nice to just turn this on and turn on a movie. The only thing that sucks and makes me wonder why I bought the 64GB is that you can't download your digital movies. Only stream them. So, if the Internet goes out, we have some upset children. Other than that, it's pretty neat how well the remote allows you to play interactive games. You can hook up bluetooth headphones and watch movies. So, other than Apple keeping you from downloading your content, it's a great device!

I like the way the Apple TV interface is evolving, intuitive and easy to use, and the remote is good not great. This would be a much more valuable content box if it included Amazon Prime. Has worked flawlessly with ethernet connection to 120mbps service.

This new generation has improved over the first generation greatly. The remote is a big upgrade as well as the internal memory and voice recognition. The default setting on the device is to turn off all devices connected to the Apple TV when the Apple TV is put in sleep mode. This can be frustrating when you are trying to turn off the Apply TV and not the TV itself. This default setting can be changed under the setting of the device. Also the WiFi setup is a snap if you already have an iphone or Ipad since the system uses your already established connection on your I-device to setup the Apple TV.

The New Apple TV has lots of new apps to choose from, plus 64gb storage... Great for gamers. Mirror your iPhone photos and videos too. The BEST Apple TV yet!

I really enjoy Apple TV. I use it everyday and the App Store continues to grow for it. It is easy to work myself and my kids have no issues with this at all.

I've owned every Apple TV since they launched the 1st generation in 2007. I've also owned the 2nd generation which was launched in 2010. I even purchased the 3rd generation which was launched in 2012. So needless to say I had to purchase the 4th generation in 2015. This is by far the BEST Apple TV yet, you can download the Apps you want, and even play games on the new Apple TV. It also improves the ability stream movies via Netflix, and HBO NOW without buffering.

I've had Apple TV's in my home since the 2nd Generation came out and had 3 in my home including two 3rd Gens. This is a great upgrade to those. First of all, I like the remote a lot better. Though not perfect, I like that it has a touch pad for navigation. It's a small form-factor, which I think is good but also a little slippery in hand. I purchased a silicone cover for it which vastly improves grip in hand. The IOS upgrade is better laid out than before and it's pretty easy to customize what you want to appear on your home screen as well as where it appears. The addition of Siri seems great but she still has a hard time understanding my inputs consistently. I had hoped this would make inputing passwords and such easier but i end up getting frustrated with Siri and use the manual input, which I think is terrible. One cool feature is the remote instantly worked to control the volume of my Samsung TV. Don't need it since I have a Logitech Harmony 950 remote but cool anyway. The remote works great as a controller for games. You cannot get a second one and use it for multi-player games as only one Apple remote can be used at a time with each TV console. We bought an additional Steelseries Nimbus controller which works flawlessly with the Apple TV. My kids love it and prefer to use it over the Apple TV remote. I like also that you have additional memory options for consoles. I have one of each, a 32GB and a 64GB. Love that the games are relatively inexpensive compared to Xbox or Playstation games. Apple's library of games is very limited right now but should improve over time. Minecraft is getting major play with my boys so hopefully that will hold them over for a while. They also like the AG Drive, Tennis and dancing game so we are good. I look forward to see what developers will release hopefully in the very near future. The only wishes I have for the Apple TV is; Better character input or... Get Siri to be more consistent. It would be nice if instead of a smooth slippery surface they did something slightly rougher for better grip. Overall I would recommend this as an upgrade over the 2nd or 3rd Get. If buying for the first time, you'll be happy with it and can expect the platform to continue to improve over time.

I have the original AppleTV and this recent upgrade is a major improvement...turns this little device into something far more entertaining...games, apps...

Nice upgrade and with the App Store, I am curious to see where it really goes. I have downloaded 15 apps already, all within the first two days of using it

my previous APPLETV was the 2nd generation. This was a pretty good upgrade in the sense that my kids could now play games. The games are similar to a WII - at least for my kids they are (I have a 7 and 5 year old). The only types of games I allow them to play are the active/sports games on days it is too cold to head out and to have them had added activities in the house. I always enjoyed Apple TV and in my opinion - the streams on an apple tv are better than any other hardware (chromecast and fire Tv). I can't comment on the ROKU or the others since I've never used them.
