    The best smart watch

I wanted to wait until the EKG feature was released for the Series 4 Apple Watch before fully reviewing it. I purchased the cellular model and it's connected to my Verizon account. First and foremost, I have to say that this is easily the best smart watch on the market. It beats out Android Wear and Samsung's Gear watches with features, integration with the source phone, full cellular capabilities, app selection, and available accessories. The design has remained relatively unchanged since the first Apple Watch. It's a rectangle with bands that slide out for easy changing. The heart-rate monitor and charging are under the watch just like every other smart watch. Apple added one of the EKG contacts under the watch, has improved the heart-rate monitor, and increased the screen size by reducing the bezels around the display. This is a really good looking display, it puts others to shame. The square shape does turn some people away but the display, an OLED panel, is bright, vibrant, and photos look great on it. GIFs in texts are display smoothly and, of course, there are true blacks. The Apple Watch is tied exclusively to iPhones but it integrates well with them. Test messages, phone calls, apps, photos, and media all automatically transfer between device. The integration is deeper than Android Wear with Android smartphones and Samsung Gear watches with Galaxy phones. Apple always does a good job of integrating their products together and the Apple Watch makes the perfect companion for the iPhone. The exercise tracking has improved over my Series 2 watch. Automatic detection actually works and there are a couple new exercises that it can track. I don't have any issues with the Series 4 automatically tracking my walking on a treadmill, outdoor walking, and various other exercises. I have to manually start tracking for row machines but that's pretty normal. I like that my heart-rate is constantly, and accurately, tracked while exercising and everything gets put into the Activity and Health apps. I also get credit in Pokemon Go now that it can read Apple Health and Activity data. Siri doesn't require a the "Hey, Siri!" wake command anymore, all you have to do is raise your wrist and speak a command. Siri is much faster than before whether the Series 4 is directly connected to an iPhone via Bluetooth, over wi-fi, or on a cellular network. The built-in microphones accurately hear every command and allow for easy text dictation. Phone calls are also fine to take with the Apple Watch. I hated it before but don't mind them now. The watch is well-built and can withstand exercising and swimming without issues. I've bumped my screen on walls and desk edges here and there and it hasn't scratched or cracked. Your old bands can fit the new watch so long as you stay within the same size (38mm bands fit the 40mm watch and 42mm bands fit the 44mm watch). The EKG feature isn't something that you will use everyday but it is interesting and has actually helped people. I have used it 8 times now just to get an idea of how my heart performs under different conditions (relaxing, exercising, while stressed, etc.). Luckily, I don't have any heart conditions but the EKG was accurate when compared to one (using 4 points) taken by my physician during a job entry examination. It's accurate enough to identify problems but not zero in on their locations within your heart. Lastly, battery life has been improved. I can easily get through a day and still have 50% of my Watch's battery life. This included monitoring 30-90 minutes of exercising daily, using the Breath app 4 times a day, monitoring my daily movement, responding to texts, and controlling music playback on my iPhone. I have even begun just taking my Apple Watch and wireless earbuds into the gym with me and leaving my iPhone at home. Streaming music through Apple Music to Bluetooth headphones while tracking exercises does take a toll on the battery but it will get you through a 5 hour session (which is more than enough for me). I just wish Planet Fitness would update their app so I could show them my membership card on my watch instead of having them look it up with my phone number. Apple has made the best smart watch on the market. It is expensive and only works with iPhones but, if you have an iPhone, this is easy to recommend. Exercise tracking is spot on, the additional health aspects are nice to know, there are more apps available for the Apple Watch than any other smart watch, it's surprisingly rugged, the battery life is great, and the screen is the best on the market. You can finance the cellular model over a 24-month period, I recommend taking that route if you (understandably) don't want to (or can't) pay for it upfront. That's what I did and the overall cost added to my bill, including service for the Watch, was only $17 a month.

I’m very satisfied in my purchase of this new watch. I had a series one, but this series 4 adds so many features, along with cellular connectivity so I don’t have to bring my phone along on a run, or have the phone constantly near me in the house. I love the larger and improved screen. It retains all the great features of my series one, and adds many new ones that make it worth the purchase. The new health monitoring is fantastic and useful. I had to figure out a few things by myself, such as activating the cellular on the watch. The salesperson never fully made that clear.. or didn’t know. Regardless, thanks to useful Apple help videos, I figured it out and now it works great even without my iPhone nearby it

Awesome choice! We had been talking for quite a while about the purchase. i loved my fitbit and what it does and i miss that alot, but the feature that we got make up for it. prone to falling and 70 years old, the fall feauture is great. went back and forth on the phone feature and added it. Conner, our sales person took alot of time to get us up and running, but there is a learning curve. Everyday we learn something else. Be sure to get Apple Care

This update of the watch is great! I have had each series from the first one to now the fourth and I have to say this is the best one yet. The screen size is a game changer, you can actually use your screen to get a movie ticket or use it as a pass to get on an airplane. The battery life is amazing and the new speakers are super loud and super clear. Plus I love shopping at BestBuy because you can find apple products a little cheaper than at Apple.

This is my first Apple Watch purchase. Thought with the series 4 capabilities it was the best time to purchase one. Have owned it for about a month now. I was little skeptical I needed one, but glad I purchased. Love the independence! It is very light weight and the basic black band that comes with it feels very comfortable. Wear it always and forget it's on my wrist till I get a gentle vibrating kick with incoming messages or encouraging health reminders/goal achievements. I keep mine on mute. I especially like not being required to take your phone on long walks and jogs. It's also water proof, so no more covering my phone with a sandwich bag in anticipation of a rain shower during a long jog. Yeah! I have ATT Cellular service and it appears to be OK with my watch use, not extremely strong in my hilly neighborhood though. Battery life for the series 4 watch is exactly what Apple has documented. I get about 3 hours when cellular is on with heavy app use during workouts, listening to music, etc. When cellular is off, watch can go all day with more that half the battery or so remaining before I charge for the night. I really like the nightstand feature when charging as well. Speaker clarity and volume is really exceptional. I take calls while I'm busy doing things around house, etc., hands-free and the callers have told me it sounded very clear like I was using a landline phone. The Apple Watch app is very easy to use with lot's of different watch faces and complications to chose from to meet your personal preference. The only disappointment I had was that the watch cannot pair with your car's bluetooth. You'll need to have your iphone with you in order to listen to music in your car without headphones.

Apple really outdone themselves this time! The screen size on this watch is great...battery life works pretty good. The claim that it gets all day battery life depends on the usage. I listen to music and workout with it so by the end of the day I have to put it on the charger so that I can monitor my sleep. I highly recommend it because it’s a great device to monitor your fitness and motivate you.

Finally took the plunge and now am a proud owner of an Apple Watch. Still learning about the options and so far it has been great. I did have the Zagg protector put on. It has some challenges like recognizing my keystrokes. I think it’s better to protect watch. So it hasn’t been too bad. One thing to keep in mind is if you’re an avid Fitbit user, you do have to buy an app to sync with the Watch. I purchased a bundled product offer and I am able to see and share my steps with family and friends. It does work. I haven’t downloaded a sleep app yet but that’s not that important to me. What I DO MISS is my SiriusXM app. You may be disappointed on this one and as of now there is no compatibility between apple and SiriusXM. Otherwise, you need alternative music listening options. I am almost 4 weeks into this purchase and I am glad I made this purchase. Oh yeah, be prepared to charge regularly. Holds charge for about 18 hrs depending on my usage. I just charge in am when I’m still in bed. Not losing any steps....

Very pleased with series 4 Apple Watch. I upgraded from a series 2 that was still going strong. Love the larger display area and the cellular capabilities. Activation through AT&T was a breeze through the watch app. Battery life is great as I get two full days of use between charges. Ordered online and picked up in store. Price was best I found.

I love my new Apple Watch as much as I love my iPhone. It is attractive and works in so many cool ways. I can make and take phones right on my wrist, and the sound is great when I am talking on my Apple Watch. Siri is right there on my wrist when I need her. I am a teacher. and sometimes when I am moving my arms or hands on class to describe something to my students and speak at the same time, Siri comes on a comments or gives information she thinks I need. Funny but. fun too. Love how the watch tracks my movements and when I am out walking, running, exercising or something, the watch tells me that I a working our and wants me to set the workout app to track my details. Cool, stuff. The Apple Watch is very new and I haven't tried everything it is capable of doing, I am sure. But I find it very useful. The only thing is I bought it a few weeks ago, and now Apple has announced the Series 5 Apple Watch which is always on, and I don't have to flick my wrist to see the time. I wander if I can upgrade to the Series 5....

I have bought every Apple Watch since they came out. This time around I was pretty skeptical about going from the S3 to the S4. It just seemed like an unnecessary upgrade. I was wrong. The screen size is *so* much bigger at 44. The complications and screen at just gorgeous -- and the watch is lighter than the S3. Battery life hasn't changed. Seems to be good. I haven't used Walkie Talkie at all. The speaker is louder and you can actually hear Siri directly through the watch without headphones which is nice. Yes it's pricey but once you make the investment you'll be happy.

I had a Series 2 Apple Watch and upgraded to the Series 4... I love it! The larger screen size is very noticeable in comparison to what I had previously. While the dimensions of the watch are just a little bit larger, it still seems to be about the same size on my wrist. The haptic feedback on the digital crown is a nice feature. I am also seeing better battery life than I had with my Series 2. I have always loved the activity tracking features of the Apple watches and being able to store songs on the watch to listen to while exercising is a killer feature for me. Add a pair of wireless Beats or AirPods and no more headphone wires to get tangled up! I purchased the cellular version, but have not activated the cellular functions yet... Not sure if I see a great benefit in paying $10 a month addition on my cellular bill to take a call or stream music. (I heard the Series 4 is supposed to be better than previous iterations at phone calls... I have not had a chance to try that out yet.) Ultimately, there are less expensive smart watches out there, but they lack the integration with other Apple devices and accounts. They are also not as accurate for activity tracking and the waterproofing and features of the Apple Watch are second to none. Glad I picked this up as a pre-order on release day because I would be going crazy if I had to continue to wait for them to be back in stock (like some of my friends). The downside is that the watch cannot go multiple days on a single charge, meaning it cannot really be worn at night as a sleep tracker. Given that, I never understood the value of tracking sleep anyway because what can I do about it if I didn't sleep well? Seems overrated to me. Ultimately, I love my Apple Watch and am very happy with the purchase.

I got my Apple Watch back in October and have used it every day since the purchase. As a big Apple fanboy, I have to say, while I love this product, I'm not totally blown away. I purchased the cellular version in hopes that it would allow me to use my phone less. However, I don't seem to be using my phone any less than I normally would without the watch. Texting isn't entirely fluid with having to write out letters or using speech-to-text (which although is mostly accurate, is not too practical for me). I have a mount on my dashboard for my phone, so using Maps on my watch while driving doesn't change anything for me when I can just view Maps on my phone right in front of me. Another big issue that I have, although it isn't the watch's fault, is the lacking Spotify app which finally released after years of not having one. The Spotify app works only as a remote, rather than a stand-alone app like Apple Music; you have to be in range of your phone for Spotify to work on the watch. I hope this improves with time. If you're an Apple Music user, this won't apply to you. However, with Apple Music, your music isn't listed in chronological order (recently added being on top), which I find sucks. Now that I've gotten the things I don't like about the watch out of the way, here are some things I love... I find the Activity app to be the most useful for me to keep track of my exercises, especially with expanded information that is automatically synced with your iPhone's health app. A 3rd-party sleep app called Sleepwatch is also great to get an overview of your quality of sleep, showing a graph of your heart rate, sleep time, heart rate dip, sleep rhythm, and restful sleep. The Wallet app makes paying for things a lot easier with contactless readers -- with a push of a button, I can buy a coffee without having to pull out my physical wallet and card. Phone calls are loud and clear. Siri works great (most of the time), and will only get better with future software updates. The design of the watch is very clean and elegant, and matched with the right band, can make for a classy aesthetic. If you're a user, like myself, who has never used an Apple Watch before, I would recommend this product if you have the money to spend. If you're skeptical, get yourself a Series 3 for half the cost. I wouldn't blow your money on the stainless steel version, because it's only for aesthetic purposes and provides no difference in performance.

I purchased my watch after the following incident. On July 3 while walking the dogs my wife fell and struck her head causing an extremely serious concussion. Emergency services were called as a function of the anti fall feature on her Apple watch. She spent four days in intensive care and one day of transition from the hospital. She is now home and recovering with an expectation of 100% recovery. Thank you APPLE WATCH!!!!!!!! She insisted that I also get one of the watches and I did. After this experience Several of our friends have now purchased Apple 4 Watches.

I had a series 0 apple watch for several years and had been looking to upgrade at some point. It was the health features of the new watch which sold me. Fall Tracking, upcoming ECG, heart beat detection, etc. all great to have. Battery life is good. Makes it through the day with no problem. When calculating what it costs to add to your cell plan, keep in mind that the taxes/fees (for the cellular model) will nearly be equal to the monthly charge. The new watch faces are nice. And I can't believe how much bigger the screen seems between bringing it to the edges and making the watch slightly larger.

Of course it works well. I chose this version because it has a replaceable battery and the 44mm screen is easier to see. I didn't like the idea of the always on with the Series 5. Maybe that can be toggled. Not sure. I do recommend getting a simple guard that goes around the edges to avoid chips unless you are very delicate with your watch. Since this is previous generation the price was better. I didn't like the touted "upgrades" on the series 5. Unless you get an ego boost from having the newest thing, this is just fine.

I just upgraded from the series 0 (Launch Version) to the 4. I love the extra complications that can be organized on the slightly larger screen. The better processor means it's way faster and snappier to respond then the original. The battery is lasting longer as well. The charging cord is a little shorter than the original but I'm actually ok with that because I did feel like the longer length was a little over kill. If you have the original Apple Watch and have been on the fence I would definitely recommend if you can swing it.
