Purchased this to make my upgrade to SSD easier and this software works perfectly.

My daughters laptop stopped working even though its hard drive was still OK. I put her old hard drive in this device, connected this device to her USB 3.0 port on her new computer and was able to copy the data from the old hard drive to the one in her new computer. Afterwards, I was able to use the old hard drive in this device as an external hard drive for backup purposes. The software that came with this device was designed to clone the old hard drive to the one in the new computer which would not have been desirable as this would have replaced the Windows 8 operating system in the new computer with the Windows 7 operating system from the old computer. Therefore I did not install or use the software. This device has a jack for a power supply, but does not come with a power supply. However the device worked fine without a power supply, so I assume a power supply is only needed when connecting it to a USB 2.0 port.

This item was rather easy to use but it can have some connection issues with the HDD.

Swapping out laptop hard drives isn't for the feint of heart. So having to bend the retaining clip on the insert tray a little isn't a big deal. The eject release is nice an solid and won't trigger accidentally. The USB 3.0 connection is fast. Its a nice permanent new home for your old laptop drive, allowing you to reuse it, rather than just have yet another bare drive floating around. Only downside is that not much information is provided about the power requirements of the enclosure. It has a port for external power, but doesn't come with an adapter for it, or information on when/if it is needed. I suspect that with most 2.5" SATA drives on a full power USB port won't need it, but it would be nice to know for sure.

This product made transfering my old SSD to a bigger one simple. Needed to upgrade to a larger drive for my OS and this was the answer. The case is also nice to use the old drive as an external drive.

Quality is good. Size is a bit bulky for a 2.5" hard drive.

Fantastic easy to install device. Just press the cover release button, insert the drive and seat the connector, Install the included screws. Re insert the tray in the cover and plug in your computer. About two minutes work .

great case and can be used for me years to come. Easy to assemble and put different drives into. good heavy duty construction.

I purchased a new laptop at work. Its a real power house and I purchased it with a 256GB SSD Disk. The only problem is that it came with a 500GB SATA drive installed with my OS and the 256GB SSD disk in a separate box. I used this product to clone my 500GB SATA disk to the 256GB SSD disk without any problems. It worked the first time, took about an hour or so, and I've never looked back. The software it comes with is also very easy to use. I now share it with my coworkers as they all want to go to SSD :)

The software loaded right up and was easy to use. The included drive holder was easy to install the drive into and high-quality. The software did not give much feedback while processing, but once I understood how it worked this was not an issue.

This product did exactly what I needed it to do. It was easy getting my HHD drive connected and transferring my data to another laptop. Glad that the Bestbuy staff suggested this product!

Had no trouble installing my laptop hard drive and performing a low level format. Quite fast too.

The setup was quick. The dongle is really easy to use. The USB3 makes large file transfer fast.

This product worked as expected to help restore my daughter's laptop. Don't ask me how as it was done by someone other than me, but he said it was perfect.

This is a great device for the beginner/first time user who has never experienced taking a hard drive out of a computer and installing it in the portable device, which turns the old had drive into a nice external hard drive. All the memory that was on my old computer I can use for other things that I don't want stored on the new computer. I can back up pictures and phone pictures with the new external hard drive that I created from this device.

The device was easy to use. I opened the hard drive of my old computer and followed the instructions. I am able to access all the files in the old hard drive.

simple easy and fast as long as you have an Internet connection third time I purchased this gets better every time.
