I've played guitar since 1987, so I've seen some great guitars and some junk too. This bass is far from junk. It's a copy of a Fender P bass which is the most common bass you will encounter. It plays great. I really can't fault it there. The frets are well dressed and everything was very playable right out of the box. The finish on body is well done. It has a nice sunburst that shows through to a nice piece of Alder. The box for my bass listed alder as the body wood Some of the product descriptions list another wood. The neck is a decent piece of somewhat curly maple. The only real complaint I have is the fingerboard has some very minor splits in the middle. I think it is just an inferior cut of rosewood. I really don't see where it is going to deteriorate or anything. It's just a cheap bass and good rosewood is expensive. I have not had a chance to plug into a bass amp, but it sounds great on my effects processor. It even sounds good distorted, which surprised me. Overall it is a very impressive piece of hardware for very little money.

I'd been thinking of taking up the bass for some time. The stars lined up this past fall, and I picked up the SB10 from Archer through Best Buy. Shipping was much faster than expected, but being close to the distributer sped things up. I've been using this in conjunction with the Rocksmith 2014 "game"/learning tool. and while my skill level has improved in recent months, I'd like to focus on the quality of this instrument. The guitar arrived well-enough protected from UPS. The finish is good, the neck is smooth. The fretboard is good. The fret wires wires could have been smoothed a bit, but as I would find with form, the hand should not really come in contact that closely. . I found that it holds a tune pretty well. I have had this since September. I have had no complaints with it. The sound quality is good through Rocksmith, or my amp. It stays in tune. Overall, this has been a very good starter instrument. I'm happy with the quality, and the deal that I got.

No frills, Well built, decent sound. for the person that's just getting interested in playing bass, or just learning this is a good choice to start with. I also bought a Samson clip on tuner with this. one of the main tests I do on any instrument is to see how well it stays in tune. In this case after only the initial tuning and some minor touch ups, within four hours the bass was solid and stays in tune.
