Gone girl before gone girl, a great director debut

A great movie!!! Actors, director. Recommended!!!!

In a field of great films in 2012, Argo won and deserved the Oscar. Beautiful retelling of actual events that transpired in the Iran Hostage Crisis, including the dedication of many Americans to free those trapped there with no way out. Also brought to life in this retelling was the enduring cooperation of our Canadian allies which put their own safety and security at risk. The cast is this film is stellar and outstanding. Besides Affleck includes all-stars like Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Tate Donovan and many others giving great performances.

I think that "Argo" was one of the best historical films of all-time and it was one of my favorite films. I had read about the Iranian Hostage Crisis in President Jimmy Carter's White House Memoirs and this film provided a surprising insight into the crisis that was kept classified. I also enjoyed all of the action, mystery, suspense, plot, storyline and a great and amazing cast that made this an exciting and entertaining film as well.

This is an incredible film that really keeps the viewer engaged while offering periodic breaks in the tension with well-placed humor. Ben Affleck proves once again he is a more-than-capable director and wows the audience with both amazing, sweeping shots of the city from afar and tight, close shots in the crowded streets. The only negative thing I can say about this film is there is not a whole lot of replay appeal outside of the commentary and documentary track. The film relies a lot on tension from internal and external factors and once you see how they all play out, the film's pacing seems quite a bit slower.

I had seen this movie when it came out and enjoyed it very much. When it was released on DVD I thought about buying it, but didn't. When it was offered as a deal of the day for $9.99 with free shipping, I ordered it. It came in 3 days, and I have watched it twice since then. I remember when this actually happened, but even if you don't, you'll enjoy this movie.

I rented the movie when it was first available. My wife and I both enjoyed the movie especially since we were really unaware of the subject matter and lived through that part of history not knowing this part of it. We had 4 children at the time and with busy lives we really only knew about the "Crisis" was that it was always on the news and didn't know the deeper stories. So seeing the plot of this "sub-story" that we never knew about was engaging and the movie on the whole was quite good. Worth watching from time to time.

This is a really good film based on a true story. Affleck is really good and supporting cast does a great job as well. The movie title and awards speaks for itself. We saw it several times and when there was a good deal on the price at BB we had to break down and buy it. Its a nice piece of history with a happy ending!

A picture based on a true story that makes you want to stand and cheer at the end!! Ben Affleck proves once again that he is an all round master mind director and actor. Accompanied by Alan Arkin and John Goodman that make sure in the darkest and horrific of tragedy, comedy shows the light. An absolute must see!!

This movie was engrossing from the start! thoroughly entertaining, we laughed, we listened intently, we held our breaths, then breathed a sigh of relief, only to be caught up again in the terror of this true story. I bought this to share with others, and I'd better get it back! LOL

This movie was very interesting and had me searching the internet right afterward to learn more about the real life situation. Ben Affleck is a very good director. The cinematography was a little tight sometimes, but understandable due to the need to make it look like an actual location.

I don't know if Ben went to acting school after Gigli or he is just finding roles that he fits better. This movie is great and gives us a peak into a historical event that changed the world.

I could watch this movie over and over. Though some of scenes were added for effect; the overall synopsis of the movie on how Canada helped us get our people home is one for the record. Enduring forever.

The underrated directorial attempt for Ben Affleck. Brisk, entertaining, thrilling and Alan Arkin and John Goodman carry this ever so gracefully. 4k transfer is clean.

Ben Affleck was robbed for not being nominated for an Oscar for Best Director for this film. Glad he won as producer along with George Clooney in the Best Picture category. On the edge of my seat during the airport scenes, even knowing the outcome. EXCELLENT MOVIE!

Ben Affleck really matures as director and producer in this 3 Academy Award Winning film, including best picture. While some artistic liberties have been taken with the historical events, the thrill and intrigue of real events brings excitement to this film.

Directed by Ben Affleck, who's been on a role as of late with 3 critically acclaimed movies, this one winning best picture. Follow up to "The Town" which was an amazing crime thriller, this ones a great thriller as well, don't miss out!
