I recently installed this 4-camera Arlo Essential 2K set, and it completely transformed how I protect my home. The setup was quick and simple — each camera connected to Wi-Fi without any problems. The video quality is sharp, clear, and reliable day and night. I love being able to cover different areas — front yard, backyard, driveway, and porch — and monitor everything from one app. Motion alerts are instant and accurate, and the rechargeable batteries last a long time. The sleek modern design also looks great around the house. Highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish security system!

Unboxing - each camera was came with a pack of hardware for installing outdoors but only one USB cable for charging. Does not come with a power adapter either. Set up was very easy. The box and manual comes with a QR code that you can scan after downloading the app. After downloading the app it was easy to set up each camera. The app walked you through every step from connecting to Bluetooth and renaming the camera to add the location. I set up in each corner of the house. These cameras have a built in rechargeable battery just plug in. The camera come 70% charged but I charged all to 100% before installing. After 4 days from set up the one camera that had most activity (a lot of deer motion) still has 97% charge left. This is amazing I was concerned with how often I would have to charge these and I also planned on purchasing solar panels so I didn’t have to worry about keeping track of batter level. You have to adjust the setting in order to optimize the battery life. As for clarity in day and night it’s not as clear as I was hoping it to be considering its 2K resolution. Will need to play with the settings to try and optimize the clarity. The reason for the 4 stars was because of the lag time (~4 to 5 seconds) from the time motion was detected to when it would activate the camera to start capturing.
You can run the cameras without a plan but it will not save events. You do get a 30 day trial to test the app out if you want to purchase. The plan will cover unlimited number of connected cameras.
Overall, if you are looking for home security camera set the Arlo - Essential 4 camera set is a good option at this price point as well. Very easy to set up, the app is also user friendly but will take a little getting used to if you are familiar with the other home security apps.

I have installed a lot of camera systems over the years, both wired and wireless, and I must say that these Arlo 2K wireless cameras were by far the easiest yet, and that is generally speaking for all the wireless cameras that I have installed.
I was not familiar w/ the Arlo brand, I had heard of them but have never used any of their products. This being their 3rd generation of wireless camera’s I must say that I am glad I received these, they are very well made, and easy to use.
Once you open the box these are packaged in the first thing you see are the 4 wireless camera’s w/ sticker saying to charge before use, the Arlo window sticker and the quick start guide. Also on the top of the inside of the box you have a QR code to download the app, which is very well laid out and easy to set up w/ the camera’s.
As far as the installation, I had my two sons place these on each corner of our home, Arlo states that they have 130 degree view and that allows me to get pretty decent coverage all the way around our home. It doesn’t take long to charge the 4 cameras and have them up and running. The auto detection on these Arlo cameras works very well, probably the best that I have had in a camera system, and the night vision is crystal clear. This is also the first wireless system that came w/ a security yard sign which is much appreciated. The siren w/ these cameras is not on the level of a police/fire/rescue siren, but it is loud enough to get someone’s attention that they are being watched and recorded. I also appreciate that this system has the dual band Wi-Fi that allows these camera to connect to the strongest band, I like that feature so much that I plan to purchase a set of these for the rest of our property.
If you are in the market for a very well made, easy to charge, connect, and monitor, I strongly recommend these Arlo 2K wireless security camera’s.

Amazing Picture Quality, Great Battery Length

I have always been a believer that one can never have too many camera's, especially when they are of good quality and at a great prices. When I say this 4 camera package I immediately had to get it. I have always had a great experience with Arlo cameras for my property. They are so easy to setup , it comes with a great bracket and good screws, plus during the setup the app helps along they way providing animations. There is a ton of support available for the setup and the application however its so easy to setup through the app that the walkthrough make even those who are not tech savvy set it up with ease. The picture quality has been amazing with these Arlo cameras as well as the mics to hear noises. I always enjoyed the ability to zoom in the shot to allow a better view of something whenever its needed. I also love the battery life on these cameras. It is very impressive how even at maximum picture quality the batteries last for such a long time. The only issue is the light and how long it takes to recharge the battery. I wish the light was larger to extend further into the area. As for the battery charging it takes forever to get from a 1% to a 100% full charge, expect around 5 to 6 hours. Honestly though its a good trade off since the batter lasts for such a long time. If you need constant up time then recommend using the wire or purchase an additional battery.
Overall Arlo cameras are the best and recommend the to anyone who wants a good deal at setting up a monitoring system.

Just the essentials

The arlo essential kit comes with 4 rechargeable cameras. Enough to provide basic coverage of your home's exterior.
The cameras have 2 way audio and a bright light.
Not a fan that it didn't come with a charging block, just one USB-C cable for 4 cameras... I find that to be disappointing, especially if you like to charge everything at once.
Mounting the cameras is easy. A bracket attaches to the wall and then you attach the camera and swivel to the bracket.
The 2K resolution provides nice quality, even at night. The cameras are pretty sensitive and able to pick up motion at the periphery.
The Arlo Secure app is good. It's easy to use, so no complaints there. Lots of settings regarding zones and sensitivity.
Without a paid suscription, you are limited to live view, two way audio, and notifications. If you want free local recording, you'll need an Arlo Smart Hub or a Base Station. If you want Cloud recording, you'll need to pay up $7.99 for single camera, $17.99 for unlimited cameras, and $24.99 for their premium suscription (billed annually).
I can't speak on the longevity of the camera battwriws because it depends how you're using them, but the app does give you options to conserve battery power.
Overall, I would recommend this a starting kit keeping in mind that to get the most out of them, you'll need to get a subscription. For local accessible video recordings, I would pass.

A Great Simple Camera System

I picked up the Arlo camera system because I wanted a single set of cameras that was simple to use. I didn't want to deal with running a bunch of wires, crawling around in my attic, or doing complex IP cameras. This system checks all those boxes. But like most cloud based systems now, it does come with its monthly subscription cost which may be a bit more than what its worth.
Overall build quality of these is decent, though there are some things that I wish they did differently. The cameras aren't too heavy, but at the same time don't feel cheap or fragile which is nice. The bottom side has a USB-C charging port for recharging the battery. The top has a power button. The back of the camera has the hinge which is adjustable so you can get the view you need. It comes with a base that you mount to the wall, then the camera slides onto it. Two things I wish they did differently is making it so that it could be mounted on the top (so a hanging camera) and more range in the adjustable hinge. It can only swivel a small degree which really limits how these can be configured.
The software is decent and I hope it gets better with time. When your first open it you'll be taken through a very simple and straight forward setup for each camera. Its very easy and fast which I really appreciated. The only hangup here is the latency of the cameras. When attempting to place the cameras there was about a 5 second wait for the feed to catch up with the camera.
Once its all setup, you have a home screen where you can place widgets for each of the cameras your have. They can be big or small and it shows the last updated picture from the camera. Clicking on the camera will get it to go live. This is one area where I had problems with the software. Sometimes when clicking the camera, it would say connecting and simply never connect. It required me force closing the app and restarting it to get the stream to start back up.
The cameras have the typical settings you would expect from cloud cameras. There are zones that you can setup so it will ignore areas. It has power optimization levels so you can extend the battery life. There are other options as well all pretty basic and what you would expect. What I didn't see was options to ignore animals/kids. My cameras outback of my house are always triggering on my dogs which is a little annoying.
Battery life seems to be ok. I have had my cameras up for 5 days now and the battery has dropped only 10% on all of them (some a little more than others). I haven't had to pull them down to charge yet so its hard to say how long they will last. I also has them on standby for a while so they only active when I click on them.
Overall this is a very good basic setup that will work well for people that aren't really technical and just want to get something up and running quickly.

Unboxing was very easy, everything was well packaged, avoiding any damage to the items included.
After getting all the plastic films off of the cameras I set them up on my 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi and not surprisingly everything came into crystal clear view. Before mounting I made sure everything worked correctly, the spot light, mics, etc.
Setting them around ny home was a snap the mount that attaches to the facade was a great idea. Just screw on the little plastic part and snap the camera to it.
I had pre-loaded the app on my cell, so I was able to adjust the view of the camera in real time. There was 1 camera that I was unable to place due to not being able to get the correct angle. The cameras don't rotate very much in there ball socket.
After all but 1 off the cameras were placed, I set up zones (field of views for alerts), named them, and a few other fine tuned tweaks. The only one I can't record on is my doorbell cam, which I've had for a while and is not included in the 30 day trial.
This brings me to the reason I didn't give Arlo 5 stars, although picture and sound quality are both great as well as a few other options.
It's because of the plan prices plain and simple. Just for cloud storage they are demanding twenty dollars a month or two hundred and forty a year. So after the trial I will be removing them and replacing with a more pocket friendly option. I had Arlo previously but left due to all of their price hikes, something you may want to consider before investing in the system.

Arlo Essentials Outdoor 4-Camera Wireless 2K Security Camera (3rd Generation) Battery Powered with Yard Sign.
I've owned a couple of Arlo wired security cameras; however, this is my first set of outdoor battery-operated cameras. The box includes four Arlo 2K security cameras, with wall plates, an indoor charging cable, a screw kit, a quick start guide, an Arlo Security window sticker, and an Arlo yard sign. Also included is a Premium 30 day trial of Arlo Secure.
The set-up was flawless. I downloaded and installed the latest Arlo Security app and followed the prompts, connecting each camera to my account and then my home Wi-Fi. I installed each Arlo camera using a drill and Phillips screwdriver. Each camera was installed individually, just as the app indicated.
The video quality and still pictures are crystal clear. The speakers on the cameras are very crisp. You can clearly hear and understand what is being said near the camera.
The Arlo Essentials Outdoor battery powered works best with the Arlo Security subscription however, you do not necessarily need the subscription for the cameras to secure your home. There's two subscription options:
Premium:
This option covers all cameras and any additional cameras that you may add in the future.
Features:
60 day Video History-2K cloud recording
Activity Zones-highlight areas in your cameras view to only get alerts that matter.
Smart Detection
Advance Object Detection
24/7 Emergency Rapid response
Unlimited Camera Support
Plus Single for a single camera, or Plus Ultimate for multiple cameras:
Features Advanced security powered with AI and 60-Day Video History for unlimited
devices.

I have had multiple Arlo cameras before. Some have been bettwr than others but they are definitely superior to other wireless brands that I have tried. My previous versions of the Essentials were my favorite of all.
The kit comes with 4 cameras, each with integrated batteries (unremovable). They plug in to charge via a USB C cable. Arlo only provides one of these and it is rather short. Theoretically, you would probably have multiple cameras needing to be charged at the same time. At least 2 cords of a longer length would have been a nice added touch.
Set up was relatively easy. I have the app already, which may have made it a little more difficult because I had to force delete some older cameras that I didn't want to to use right now. I also had issues with 2 of the new cameras going offline. I'm sure there might be an easier way to do this but I have always had to default to resetting the camera and going from there. That is a real bother if you have the camera mounted already.
The camera gives you the option to adjust light, sensitivity, set zones, turn a spotlight on/off (it is super bright). It comes on when triggered by motion. You can set notifications as to what the trigger was, ie; package, person, animal, etc.
I am not sure about the storage plan. I read through it but I have to research it some more. That is an awful pricey plan and I don't see myself keeping it after the trial period. My old system had a hub that recorded to a drive. I need to see if there is an option for local storage with this system.
I will also look to see if Arlo comes out with a solar charging option for these, like they did for the previous versions. That alleviated a lot of work with having to take the cameras down, recharge, put them back up, rinse and repeat. Not to mention that you are without monitoring while that is going on.
One last thing: I have had to use Arlo customer support, even when my devices were out of warranty. They were very helpful in trying to help me rectify the issue.

overall functionality is really good, detection is pretty solid, although when using zones it still just picks up all motion pretty much. video quality is good, but sometimes it will lag when deciding to switch between regular and night vision mode. battery life is alright, as long as they aren’t consistently being activated they won’t run out of charge quickly, but if they are facing a high movement area they do go the their juice pretty fast.

I'm extremely impressed with the quality of my new Arlo system. The cameras are very durable, and the battery life is exactly as advertised. Very good picture quality. Battery life is decent when you get your camera resolution and zones settings dialed in. Also has worked well as outdoor camera even when and after getting wet.
