I've tried my share of several brands of wireless cameras. The Arlo Pro 2 clearly is the best in class. Pro: - Wireless with base, Rechargeable batteries - Free cloud storage recording of 7 day worth - 1080p -> important especially when trying to identify face, my friend has the 720p version but it's not clear enough when zoomed in to view the face. - 2 way audio, with motion and noise detection - 100-decibel smart siren that can be activated from your phone - Very easy set up and clean UI - Fast when connecting for live view Cons: - Priciest comparing to other brands - When/If batteries are malfunctioning or drained, you will have to purchase them for almost $50 So far, we're very happy. We owned Logicircle and mydlink wifi cameras. The Arlo Pro 2 beats them based on the Pros I've listed above.

The Arlo Pro 2 is probably the best wire-free camera currently on the market. Where as most wireless cameras sold today require power (typically over USB), the Arlo Pro 2 is completely wire-free allowing you to place the camera virtually anywhere. There is a trade off to this freedom, when operating wire-free the cameras have a reduce feature set that is standard among wireless cameras (activity zones, 24x7 video recording). I found that despite missing these features, being able to install the cameras in places I don’t have an outlet provides better visibility and coverage. The initial setup was easy, taking around 15 minutes to sync the cameras to the basestation and mount them with the provided magnetic wall mounts. The cameras include rechargeable batteries that can be charged with the included charger, an optional solar panel, or even removed for quick replacement. Battery life is fair. After using the cameras for over 2 weeks, the less active camera has 80% charge remaining and the very active one (facing street) has 70% left. I expect to get 1-2 months of battery life on a charge, though you could keep it topped off with the optional solar panel. Motion detection on battery power is good, though a person may be halfway through the frame by the time the camera wakes up. Unfortunately, this were things start to fall apart due to lack of overall product refinement. To start, I am not a fan of having to use a basestation considering the cameras operate over wifi (802.11n). I would have preferred the option to connect them to my existing wifi, reducing the number of things I need to connect to my router (basestation requires ethernet). There is only one USB cable and charger provided for the two camera system, meaning if you would like to wire these to be able to utilize most of the features advertised (3-sec look back, 24x7 CVR, activity zones) you will have to purchase another cable and charger. The included magnetic mounts are great for a flat vertical surface but are limited when mounting under an awning or similar horizontal surface. Again, you can purchase the optional ceiling mount but including the ceiling mount or better designed surface mount would eliminate this inconvenience. Person alerts or detection is missing from the product, meaning you have to view numerous 10-15 second clips to see which were triggered by the neighbors cats and which were triggered by the mail man. Even the number of clips could be reduced if the setting for record until motion stops worked properly. I also had an issue with one of the cameras going offline periodically, though this may have been resolved after the recent firmware update. This brings me to my biggest gripe, the software. The Arlo web app still uses flash while the mobile app (iOS) burns through my battery. Viewing the cameras and reviewing the clips for 10-15 minutes will drain my battery 30-50% (iPhone 7, 11.1.2). Again, these things could be fixed but currently sour the overall experience. For now, it is hard to recommend these cameras but they fit a niche of true wire-free cameras and I am hopeful Netgear will refine the product overtime.

I have the earlier generation of Arlo Pro also, so I'll cover the differences as well. The Arlo cameras are unique because they can run for months on batteries, no cables whatsoever. This kit includes: One base station, two cameras with Li-Ion batteries and one charger. The base station is required for the cameras to work. The cameras are paired to the base station that is basically a custom Wi-Fi router dedicated for the cameras. It also has a 100db siren built-in, so consider where you'll be placing this. Also it needs to connect to a home router via Ethernet cable (not Wi-Fi), so in most cases ends up being next to the home router. The base also has two USB ports for local storage. The cameras are small, weather proof, have a motion detector, night vision, sound detection, speaker and mic. The batteries are replaceable and it's charged via a standard micro-USB cable. The charger supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3 (Like some Android phones, it can recharge the batteries in minutes). Initial setup is extremely easy. Once the base station is connected to the router, go to a web page or start an app (on the same network as the base), go through a simple registration and will show you how to pair the cameras (it's just pressing a button on the base and one on the camera). Then the web page or app, which are very similar, lets you configure the names for the area, name of the base station, and for the cameras, motion detection and night vision settings, etc. The cameras have a strong magnet on the rear and it comes with a metal half-sphere that can be mounted on the wall, and can optionally be mounted with a standard camera mount. Remember that unless the camera is connected via USB, you'll need to re-charge them every few months, so the magnetic mount is handy, possible. The cameras can be 'armed' based on a button on the app/web, a schedule, alexa, google voice, IFTTT or geo-fences. Once a camera is 'armed', it starts recording whenever it detects movement. It sends a push notification to the phone and/or email where you can see the video, and if you want, put the camera in live mode, which shows audio and video, and has a push-to-talk mode so you can talk though the camera (it might have a delay of one or two seconds). The app is very easy to use. There is no subscription required if, like me, are happy with one week of storage, it keeps the videos it makes for 7 day, and then it rotates (deletes) them out. Other plans seem reasonably priced, which can include continuous recording and advanced detection patterns. The base station can also, simultaneously record to an USB memory or hard drive, and cloud storage is the primary method of accessing recordings. There is a 'live' mode that can be triggered from the web site or apps. Note that it will stream to only one device at a time, but multiple cameras can display video. The cameras support integration with home automation systems like wink or smartthings, and through IFTTT, integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to arm/disarm and initiate a recording. The platform isn't open so you cannot just record from a web link like on other IP cameras. Also note that although the cameras use Wi-Fi, they need the base and use their own Wi-Fi network with its base. The security on these cameras appears to be solid. A network scanner shows no open ports on the base, which is good, and the cameras are not directly connected to the network, they go through the base station. The images are clear in both day and night modes. Besides the web page, there are apps for iOS (phone/tablet), Android and Amazon fire. Also there is an app for Apple TV that works great to see recordings, arm/disarm. Fire TV and Echo Show can also show live video. While the cameras work great with iOS and Apple TV, there is no Siri/HomeKit integration. In over a year of using a system, it's not something I really miss. Comparing to the Arlo Pro system: - The base is the same , so if you already have an Arlo Pro base, it works the same. Having multiple bases can be useful to extend the Wi-Fi range of the cameras (Pair them to the closest base). - Pro records at 720p, Pro 2 records at 1080p. - Both Pro and Pro 2 are the exact same size. The only exterior difference is that the outer part of the front rim is white on the Pro 2 and black on the Pro. Mounts, sleeves and batteries are interchangeable. - Pro 2 can record continuously (24/7), but only when plugged in and with a paid storage plan. - When plugged in, Pro 2 is always recording, so when it detects movement, it also saves the three previous seconds. - When plugged in, Pro 2 supports detection zones. This is very common on other cameras. From the app, drag rectangle(s) indicating which areas of the image trigger motion detection, ignoring the rest. Overall, if looking for a reliable system with no monthly fees, and the minimum amount of fuss, this a system to get. Pro 2 brings welcome improvements on an already solid system. The free storage offers unlimited recordings for the past week and up to five cameras. Longer retention time, continuous recording or advanced detection require fees. (Detection zones, when plugged in, on Arlo 2, is free).

Ugh, this is not good. Let me start off by saying that I own several home security camera systems - D–Link, Samsung and the prior version of this product – the Arlo Pro. The prior version is easy to install, the software is mostly good and the battery life is excellent. Arlo cameras are weather resistant, wireless and have magnet built in for easy mounting. The Arlo 2 is of the same build and uses the same software, the same base station and the battery life is at ,minimum, equal to the prior version of the product. That is good thing and I was excited to see that the Arlo 2 has video that is 1080P and it now has activity zones. However, the excitement ended there. When it came video quality, there are vast differences between the prior version and the updated Arlo Pro 2. The newest Arlo Pro 2 has terrible nightvision. Just awful. It is grey, hazy and grainy. I cannot tell whether it is not illuminating as well as the original Arlo Pro or it is something with the sensor but there is definitely a problem. Take a look at the attached pictures of my living room, one with the Arlo Pro 2 and one with the Arlo Pro. You can immediately tell the quality difference. The Arlo Pro 2 is washed out in a sea grey. Blah. When trying it outdoors, it was even worse. In my opinion , almost unusable ( for outdoors.) I did some research online and one user said Netgear suggested removing the battery and reinserting. It did seem to make a difference but it still was not good . To make matters worse, the colors in the picture were way off when not in nightvision mode. Blues appeared green and lighting appeared very yellow. The color reproduction was just much worse than the Arlo Pro. To pour salt on the wound, something is wrong with the audio. It is muddied and less powerful. The mic just seems to pick up less sound. This turned out to be one big dissappointment. I loved the Arlo Pro and this seemed to be a nice upgrade. I am so hoping that this is one of those issues that can be corrected with a firmware update. Sadly, I am not so confident that will be the case. Color issues usually can be resolved with software calibrations. So can sound issues if the hardware is proper. The tough one is if the cameras do not illuminate enough in nightvision mode and if the sensor is not good . It is very concerning that some users are experiencing these issues and others are not, I hope that is not an indication that it is a hardware issue. At this point, I cannot recommend this product until Netgear resolves these issues. I am giving Arlo Pro 2 stars because the foundation is there for a great product and I will keep my fingers crossed for quick firmware update.

This is the first wireless security system I've tried, so i don't have anything to compare it to, but I must say that I'm impressed by this one. The first thing that surprised me was how fast it was to unbox the system and get it up and running; I had the base station set up, both cameras synced, and the app installed with 10 minutes. Hanging the cameras took a bit longer, but even that was relatively simple and there's even a feature in the app that helps you aim the camera in real-time without having to view video. Since I had planned on using both cameras inside my house, I intended to have them both plugged in, so I was disappointed to see that there was only one power adapter and cord for the two cameras. I did have some spare adapters and cords that would've worked, but since I was going out of town for a few weeks, I decided to leave one of the cameras on battery power just to test the battery life. I didn't bother with setting up a schedule for the system, I just armed it when I left town and waited to see what happened. I had read that this system sometimes exhibited lag when recording video after motion was detected, but I didn't experience that at all (perhaps the lag was in an earlier version). Anytime I was alerted to motion (caused by my friend I had coming by to check on things and occasionally one of my two cats) the cameras seemed to catch every bit of action. The cats did sometimes trip the motion detectors a bit too often, but I believe when I have time, I can get rid of most of that with the sensitivity settings and possibly slightly repositioning the cameras. The clarity of the video, even when the cameras were using night vision, was incredible. I also loved the ability to watch live video feeds from both cameras at the same time if i wanted. The two-way audio is a very useful feature; I actually used it once to ask my friend that was checking on my house to re-aim one of the cameras. The ability to see the battery charge from the app is also useful, but in my case it wasn't really needed since after 2 weeks of being armed, the battery in the unplugged camera still had more than half power. As far as video recording goes, I currently have the basic subscription, which is free and only allows 1GB of cloud storage for up to 7 days. This subscription only supports 5 cameras, so if I want to get 5 additional cameras to completely cover both inside and outside of the house, I'll not only have to buy the cameras, but I'll also have to cough up an additional $99/year to get coverage for up to 10 cameras. The jury's still out on that, but I will definitely buy a few additional cameras to add to the current coverage. Overall, I'm very happy with this security system. It's very easy to set up and does exactly what it's supposed to, and it does it well. The cameras are relatively small and unobtrusive, the video is crystal clear (even with night vision), and the two-way audio allows you to listen in and/or speak to the location where the camera is. The app is well designed, giving you access to everything you need, and it's very stable; I've had no problems with it since I installed it on my phone over 2 weeks ago. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone wanting a nice video security system.

I have dealt with several IP based security surveillance systems, this Arlo 2 Pro System is definitely a smart buy at 1/4th the price. I have owned a three camera Arlo (v1) system for at least two years now, they have withstood the scorching heat and flash floods here in Vegas. I am confident this newest revision will be just reliable as the previous system. As I already owned 3 Arlo (v1) cameras and have an account Netgear, I did not have to setup a new account. I removed the previous base station from my account (optional) and added the new one following the concise and informative instructions provided. Once I had synced the new cameras with the new base station I proceeded to sync my Arlo (v1) cameras to it as well. Within minutes the system was ready to be remounted. Setting up Modes and Rules on the Arlo is intuitive and simple. I believe the limit to the amount of cameras one can have on their free 7 day cloud account is 5 cameras, so I've reached the limit before having to pay a subscription. This new model of Arlo is packed with features like: • Rechargeable batteries • Two-way audio - which is really sensitive and high quality. • What seems to be a wider field of view than their first version • A siren - really loud - granting complete functionality as an alarm system. • Local backup storage with one's own removable usb media • Alexa and IFFT compatibility - have not mess with this yet • And the expected push to phone or email notifications. Though the cameras maybe a little pricey at more than $200 dollars, each - they are completely comparable and better (because of their wire-free nature) than many commercial products available on the market. The provided sticker is neat too - "you may not see Arlo, but Arlo will see you". This product totally fits the needs of any small business / home, without having to pay thousands of dollars, I will be recommending it to clients and friends I consult with. I provided a picture so you can see what's inside the box =D

Easy to Setup, Excellent Image Quality

As a user of the original Arlo cameras in my house, I was excited to get the Arlo Pro 2 cameras setup to see the difference in image quality side by side. For testing purposes, I decided to setup the cameras in two different ways. I first paired one of the cameras with my existing base Arlo base station. The rechargeable batteries come with a full charge, which is really nice. Pairing was as simple as inserting a battery, pressing the “Add Device” button within the Arlo app, and following the in-app instructions. Literally two minutes to add the camera to my existing base station. To access all of the Arlo Pro 2’s features, I decided to add the new base station to my existing Arlo account. Being able to use two different base stations under one account could be convenient if range is a problem with your setup. Once the new base station was added, adding the second camera was the exact same process. For the second camera, instead of inserting the battery, I plugged this camera directly into the wall. The flexibility of the cameras to operate via the rechargeable battery or directly plugged into the wall is a nice feature. Only one cord and wall wart comes in the box, however. The Arlo Pro 2 comes equipped with a siren and two way audio. I’d recommend going into another room when testing the siren. The siren is LOUD. These two features really enhance the Arlo System’s ability to be used a stand-alone security system. I’m considering saving $30 per month and dropping ADT. As for image quality, the images from the Arlo Pro 2 are much sharper than images from the Original Arlo. The difference in quality is most notable when zooming (See the difference in the two attached images.) An interesting feature of the Arlo Pro 2 is the ability to create a motion detection zone from a still image of the camera. This could reduce nuisance false motion alerts and recordings. One downside of this feature is that the camera must be plugged in to enable it. Finally, One of my biggest complaints with the Original Arlo system is the delay between motion sensing and recording. Motion would trigger a recording, but the delay was long enough that the person (or cat) had already passed by. Netgear seems to have solved this problem with the Arlo Pro 2’s “3 second look back” feature (again must be plugged in to enable). The motion detection recording delay did seem to be better with the Arlo Pro 2 camera even operating on battery, however. Overall, the Arlo Pro 2 is a solid buy. The new features and image quality make it worth the price. I plan on recommending that my friends make the upgrade as well. I received the Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System with 2 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program.

Recently moved to a new house, and the neighborhood isn’t as perfect as one would hope for, so I’ve been looking into a good external monitoring system to keep watch on who is at the door, and since my backyard borders a park often frequented by n’er-do-wells and homeless, I wanted to keep an eye on the back too. Lots of systems require tons of wiring, mounting brackets, etc. this Arlo Pro 2 is overall really simple. Load app, plug in base, mount cameras, insert batteries, and boom! You are done! Video is crisp, app is easy to use, and the alarm test scared the daylights out of my household! While the magnetic mounts are awesome tech, and great for mounting and replacing batteries, it also makes theft really simple, so I’m somewhat worried about that, so I mounted my cameras as high as I could on the house. The weatherproof design makes mounting out where there will be snowfall less scary. Hope everything holds up well for the winter. 7 days of free video storage, programmable timers, and a 2-3 month average battery charge makes this a highly impressive camera set. Hopefully my happiness with the product lasts for many years.

Very good system for what it's designed to do.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Arlo Pro 2 is designed to be a basic/entry level camera system on par with Ring, Nest, Canary, etc. This means that expected video quality will be good, but not professional level (such as with pure surveillance cameras with a dedicated NVR). Here the Arlo Pro 2 delivers very good daytime quality at 1080p with a purported 130° viewing angle. Nighttime is a little more suspect and grainy than what you might find on a dedicated nanny/baby cam and in my testing it's more susceptible to IR washout without really good location planning - likely due to the sheer number of IR LEDs on the camera combined with the wide angle. Included in the box are two cameras, two magnetic camera mounts (magnetic for attaching the camera to the mount) intended for indoor use only, the base unit, one charger, batteries for both units, and a ethernet cable. I'm not sure where the 'test your WiFi' reviews are coming from as this unit is hardwired to your network and uses it's own wireless network to communicate with the cameras. Granted, they could be referring to the ability to watch the captured video/active cameras on your networked devices, but I fail to see how that wouldn't apply for watching any streaming media in general - not just these units. Setup was relatively painless, although it takes deceptively longer than I anticipated to pair cameras to the base unit. Not a big deal, but I did question whether or not it was working and just decided to wait it out. In the end, it worked just fine. The included instructions are minimal, but average and at least to the point so as not to be overly confusing. As others have noted, there is a fairly uncomfortable and very noticeable delay between the unit video/audio and the app when using it 'real-time'. It's probably just fine for the 'HEY GET OFF MY LAWN' engagements but not that suitable for baby/kid monitor. I suspect this is due more from the camera video feed being relayed from Netgear rather than direct video feed from the camera, but I can't say for sure. I have not noticed any battery issues on my two units as some others have reported, but Netgear may have sorted that out by now and my firmware may be different (there's no way to tell). All I can say is that I haven't charged my two cameras at all since they arrived, and they've been using the charge they came with out of the box for over a month now. They're both still at over 85%. I can see how changing out the batteries for charging will be a pain though once the time comes if they're mounted in less-than-accessable locations. PROS: - Good daytime video quality. - Nighttime IR capability, although it could be better - you can definitely see the neighbors cat roaming, but unless someone gets significantly close to the camera you're not going to get mugshot quality images. - Motion sensitivity is very good. - Alarm is REALLY loud - (but it only emanates from the indoor base station - not the cameras outdoors). - App (as tested on iOS) is pretty comprehensive although the 'Position Mode' tends to lock up my cameras until the app is force quit. I can't fault the cameras for that and it should be easily fixed. - Online storage: and this can't be said enough, you get 7 days without paying for a subscription which is MUCH better than Ring (which requires a subscription for ANY storage). CONS: - You'll have to purchase separate (not included) mounts if you plan to use the cameras outdoors. - You can't use 'custom zones' on the camera unless it's connected to a power source (doesn't work on battery power). The default zone is anything within the camera's viewing angle. - Network delay on 'live' viewing is uncomfortable (has very little to do with your personal network). - Low/no light performance could be better. - If you want to power an outdoor unit, it's going to be a major pain as the power brick and cable are not exactly outdoor friendly, nor long enough. Overall, this camera system is on par with my Ring Pro doorbell unit in both video and audio quality (the Arlo Pro 2 audio is actually slightly better) even though the Ring unit is hardwired. I do wish I could use custom motion zones while on battery power. I'm knocking off 1/4 star for low light performance; 1/4 star for the real-time delay (although this may be solvable in the future by Netgear);1/4 star for the lack of custom zones on battery power; and another 1/4 star for not including a usable outdoor mount. Regardless, it's a really good indoor camera system and an above average outdoor system. I'd easily recommend this to non-tech savvy users who need a general security monitor system (such as my parents). I received this Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System with 2 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program.

Sofar so great very handy like it says WIRELESS you can move anyway around you want, I placed the tower next to my internet router for best wireless connection through your smartphone or tablets. The clarity of the video and picture is amazing night vision is good also. The motion detector is very accurate. You can’t go wrong with this security camera, it worth the price, I purchase it almost a week now and I used it right away and the battery still 100% fully charge. Now I can monitor my whole house around even I’m at work or far away. Easy record or snap shot whoever coming or whoever around my house. Highly recommend to everyone.

We bought these cameras over a year ago for our house. The set up is so easy! You just plug in, set up an account, and you are good to go. The camera's are strong and durable. I like that you can keep a flash drive in the home base to keep record of everything and that has come in handy so many times when I did not have the camera's "armed" and we missed something. The picture quality is great. I love the zoom in feature as you can really see detail on what you are wanting to see close up. The range of view is excellent. It covers our entire yard and the road. For 4 cameras, this set is definitely worth it! Another plus, is that it is weatherproof and wireless. We have had the wired kind and installation was a pain and we never had great quality. The night vision is spectacular. I know there are updated versions but honestly, you can not go wrong with this set. We actually bought another set as a gift to our parents and they love them! Since we and our parents talked so highly of them, my sister got a set. They are so worth the price. What is super nice, is that you can talk through the cameras. I don't know how many people have jumped or tried finding someone when I started talking because it comes out on the camera. The Arlo app is great and so easy to use. Even my older parents can navigate through it easily. I honestly have nothing bad to say about these. If something went wrong with these today, I would go back and get the same set. The unlimited access and free 7 day storage, you just cannot beat it! I won't pay for monthly subscriptions so this is my go to! Note: if you want extra added features like emergency call, sirens...etc, you do have to pay for that, but it is just fine the way it is.

I bought the Arlo Pro 2 to replace the Ring Spotlight wireless camera that I bought and returned due to all the glitches and poor manufacturing. Set up was easy! Plug the base station to your router and electricity wait a few minutes then press 2 buttons to sync the cameras. I had everything up in a few minutes. 1. Clear 1080P day image 2. Easy to use APP 3. Records external audio and can programmed to record when it picks up audio regardless of motion. 4. Looks good not bulky can be color customized with skins 5. 3 options to keep them powered. a. Battery b. Hardwired c. Solar panel Everything was going fine until it got dark. Night vision is horrible! foggy and hazy like other reviewers say. In my case maybe due to the fog and hazy image I noticed my motion sensor works less during the night. I tried restarting the cameras , pointing them away from the walls and switching them around but I still have the same issue. These cameras at night become almost useless. There’s no way you will distinguish a face or the sensor might not even catch anything. I emailed Support on 11/5 @ around 1PM and still haven’t heard from them. I have until 11/17 to return to bestbuy for a refund I’m going to wait until the last day hoping a software update can fix this issue. I really like the cameras! But for the price (close to $900 for 4 cameras with tax) them not being able to work in the dark is unacceptable. That’s the reason I gave it 2 stars because they only work half the time. If I am able to have this issue resolved either with a software update or 4 new cameras I’ll update my review.

I have to start off by saying I own the original Arlo security system and have been happy with it and then jump to the Arlo Pro 2. All the Arlo systems have a 7 day cloud storage for free service but can be upgraded to 30 days and even more with their paid services. The Pro 2 has a few upgrade from the Pro version and a lot more over the original version. Here's what the new improvements that really noticed with the Arlo Pro 2: 1. Better Resolution meaning a better picture 1080p both day and night 2. 3 second look back feature, buffer 3 seconds and record some one entering room instead of just when camera detects motion. This is one of the best camera's on the market hands down. If you haven't own an Arlo system. Go with the pro series, these have the rechargeable batteries, on board siren, 2 way speaker system and customizable alarm setup for time of detection. BEST of all the whole system is WIRELESS but you already know that. In closing, I'm very happy with the improved resolution and picture quality and even the night vision and value you get for the Pro series features.

After purchasing a 4 pack of the newest Arlo Pro 2 cameras I really wanted to like these cameras. No wires to run, easy peezy right? Well, setup was a breeze, good app and straight forward instructions. Oh, this is where I learned that to get full features of my new expensive cameras like zoning I would have to hardwire them and buy a long cord to get to outlet, the thing I was trying to avoid. Looked up the cord and it was being recalled for allowing moisture into camera...UGH.....I used one of the three magnetic holds for a camera inside my porch but had to buy two additional outdoor arm mounts since they only include one in the box. I was suprised by the delay in capturing the motion, sometimes I could get right up to the door before it started recording, other times it would pick up a cat or rabbit or car coming up road. And what's with the splitting up of video into 10 or 20 second clips when there's still motion in the zone? Other times the subject has left the area and it continues to record. Good thing I'm not paying for all these recordings I have to cypher thru to see what happened! Did I say it has a great daytime picture but you better have some helping lights for night time viewing. I blame myself for the next complaint and probably the one that's causing my wife's words to ring in my ears, "You payed all that money for that". Everyone knows batteries don't like cold but I never imagined they would just stop working when the sub zero weather hit the Midwest...got a message...cameras need to warm before you can use them...ouch...but hey, the one on the warm porch is working great! Now, do I take a hand warmer pad and rubber band and strap around cameras or just wait for spring?

Comes with mediocre instructions, not detailed enough. Have to go on line to learn more. Can not mount inside at a window looking out, the glass will block the heat motion. It is best at picking up side to side motion vice coming right at it. Videos seem clear enough for some details, colors are good as well. I am able to pick up motion on the street. Batteries last a while between charges. I bought outdoor camera housings to mount the cameras to protect from UV damage, they look like small birdhouses. Using a USB thumb drive to store the video captures. Can set up cameras to be able to be monitored by guest accounts, ie; husband and wife can monitor from their own cell phone. (Master plus guest) System comes with mounts that allow cameras to be magnetically attached to the mounts. I have one camera mounted this way and it is secure. For night time, cameras use infrared lighting, so videos are black and white. Does not pick up motion through a screen neither, at least not picking up the motion outside a screened in patio. You can view cameras in real time, but they only record when heat motion is detected. Great solution to not having to drill and run wires, cameras can be mounted almost anywhere.

This 4-camera system works as advertised. Because my DSL upload speed is less than 1 Mb/sec, the ability to view live action is not there. I had about a 5-second delay with both video and audio. If you don't have at least 1.5 Mb upload speed per operating camera (as advertised) then forget about live action. Overall, I was very pleased with the ease of installation and the video quality both day and night. Audio is acceptable, but from a distance of 15', it is not great. One thing that was not clear at purchase was the Basic cloud storage plan. They say you get 7 days of storage. That is based on about 10 5-second video events per day (again, as advertised). But what was not clear was that this plan is only good for 3 months. After that, you apparently have to upgrade to one of two other plans; the first costing $100/yr and the other costing $150/yr, or you can no longer capture video, because this system requires cloud storage even if you can capture video on a local drive. I returned this to Best Buy for a refund. The clerk who handled the return said most of the companies who have "free" storage plans do the same thing as NetGear. I am going to recommend this system because of the quality of the components, but with the caveat of buyer beware of annual costs.

I have had my cameras for 4 years now. They work very good, a slight delay though but I believe that’s with every camera. Battery has lasted this long and we have had a solar panel connected to 2 of them for about 3 years now and it has done the job very well. Picture is great during the day, night vision is not bad at all. Speaking through the cameras are a little difficult but mostly we have used it for just recording. It does pick up sound and it’s fairly clear, depending on how far the sound is away from the camera, it will depend on how clearly you hear things. And these arlo’s are sturdy, we lost one for a few months in our chicken coop and it was found under all the chicken stuff. It went through some bad conditions and it works perfect as the others do. Durable material and very well weatherproofed. Being in the sun and all types of weather, the material is slightly faded but amazingly not looking bad at all. One last thing, I didn’t purchase the subscription they offer, I just put a memory card and that works perfect for us. And I receive my alerts, I can view the videos from the app. I definitely would recommend for anyone who needs a security camera. Pictures provided: I just took them on 9.6.2023, the cameras are roughly 4 years old and have gone through some weather conditions and also have gotten lost and found again.. :-)

Easy to install and hook up to the computer. The wireless cameras made installation easy. The cameras are great during the day. Three of my cameras have motion lighting nearby so at night the vision is great when activated. The night vision for my whole front yard and front door is awesome. The same for the back patio.

Amazing picture! Easy to use and to set up. I only have one issue...the batteries do not last very long! These are motion activated and they are extremely sensitive! If a shadow from a cloud crosses into the camera view, it activates as motion! I have turned the sensitivity down as low as it goes on all 6 cameras and they still activate for apparently no reason! I have had to re-charge the batteries to ALL 6 cameras twice now in a 4 month period.....wish that they would last at least 4 months before re-charge.
