Best Camera Solution I've ever seen!

I want to start off by saying I've played with a lot of these Wi-Fi Camera's which is why I can make the bold claim in my Summary.
Starting with what you get it's pretty straight forward. Two camera's with two mounts to match. Arlo base station with power cable and a cute sticker to warn others you have a camera system. When it comes to the base station please keep in mind two things. First, you will need to have it hooked up with a direct ethernet so if you router only supports one extra free plug which your using that may be a problem. Second, if your like me and your tired of your computer room getting more little lights that don't turn off than you will be slightly annoyed when you see the three new lights to join the family.
Once we get into performance is where this unit shines. I have had problems with just estabilishing a connection to other Wi-Fi camera's to the point where I gave them away since the manufacturers wouldn't help me. Arlo DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM! Arlo takes a few seconds, maybe ten, to get you into the live view and see what the alert is telling you. Which brings me to something you will need to adjust immediatly the alerts. I put this in my garage and front door and it goes off like crazy. The worst part is that it's naturally set up to send you emails too so first day I set it up I had 28 emails of Arlo has detected motion and my phone just beeping like crazy. Video quality is great at 1080p and the ability to talk through the camera to talk to delivery guys is amazing. The last thing that I find amazing about this product is the FREE SERVICE. Yes, you heard me right FREE for up to five camera's with 7 day recording. If you do need more cameras for your house than yes you will have to pay but that's a great deal especially when your just starting out and trying to find the best camera for you.
Simply put everyone I recommend the Arlo to you and your friends and family. I personally love it enough to where I want to go buy more and maybe get a sking to help hide them which they do sell here or on Arlo's own website.
Hope this helps and thanks for reading my review.

I was slightly skeptical because of the price but it is totally worth it.
Pros:
Great video Quality, easy setup, excellent application, 7 days of free recording, Easy to use interface
Cons:
Battery Life
It also takes a while to get the system fine tuned, I don't want an alert for every car that drives by the house but if someone pulls in the driveway or walks up to my house I want to know. I had to move and re-angle the cameras several times as well as tweek the sensitivity.
External storage... Doesn't allow over 2TB drive, Also Fat32 format only....
Overall this is a great do it yourself security system with No Wires!!!! Completely wireless Cameras system makes it nice to add these to areas like under a gutter\overhang or even a pole or tree!
I've recommended this to a couple friends who have also had a good experience.

I am in love with these little cameras. They are very easy to set up (using the Arlo app) and also very easy to mount where you want them. It only takes one screw to mount the magnetic holder to the desired location. You are given two screws and two drywall anchors if you need them. I just mounted them to the wood on the outside of my house. One by my front door and they other above the garage to keep an eye on my work van and driveway and part of the cul-de-sac that I live in. The app allows you to dial in the sensitivity to your liking. I set mine to the 33 setting and it picks up just about everything that I need it to. I may even lower it a bit more, but I will have to test some more. Trial and error is your friend there. Both cameras have been up and running for nearly a week and they are just at 95% battery left. They have seen plenty of activity in that time as well and I don't have any worry about the battery not lasting at least a couple of months. And when a charge is needed, removing the camera from its magnetic mount is easy to do. I just need to get my step stool out and pull the camera away from the mount, which holds it very securely. Wind will not move it and they are mounted high enough that a person cannot just grab them. I did purchase the silicone skins for them to help hide them a bit more at night. Also to help protect my garage mounted one from the sun and elements a bit more since its more exposed. The app works great and you have a ton of features and settings that you can play around with. I was a bit disappointed that you cannot set zones up without the camera being hard wired into a power source. 7 days of free online recording is offered which is good enough for most people. I plan to hook up a usb drive to the base station to save recordings. Notifications that the cameras detect activity is quick and actually useful. You have the ability to talk to someone at your door through the camera, even if you are not home, using the cameras speaker and microphone. Night vision is around 25 feet and I have mine set up to provide the best video quality, but you can choose between a balanced setting or battery life setting. My personally, if something happens, I want to have the best video quality that I can to have the best chance at identifying a person. You can hook up to 5 cameras to the base station and I do plan on adding at least two more cameras around the house. I also plan on purchasing the different mounts that are offered to allow a bit more angling of the cameras, right now I would like to angle the front door camera facing down more, but the rounded magnetic mount won't allow it.

Bought the Arlo Pro 720P system 2 months ago and to my dismay the release of the Arlo Pro 2 1080P. I bought the 2 camera combo to add on my current system. During the day you can see the 1080 is better. Night vision is considerably worst than the 720P unit. So if you have the 720p system and thinking about upgrading, I would not buy cameras to replace what you have, but I would buy to add on if you need to. If you need to buy a net new system, I would spend the extra coin and get the 1080. Good luck!

This Arlo Pro 2 Security Camera System is so easy to install and use. It's wireless technology is amazing. These HD cameras provide stunning clarity. The ability to view, and modify this system via it's app and online portal is essential. The cloud recording makes viewing remotely and downloading important clips incredibly easy. Did I mention the CLARITY!!! Oh my, this unit is something I would suggest to a friend. If your looking for easy quick way to monitor something with high quality video, this is the unit you're looking for.

With just my luck the week I install the cameras ends up being the coldest in Illinois. I have 3 cameras outside currently but one of them seems to drop so low that camera turns off because of the cold. The battery has also taken almost a 25-30% hit in just a week of usage and it is in the alleyway beside the house with the least foot traffic so isn't recording very often either.
Picture quality is noticeably better than Pro however i would recommend sticking with the Pro and not necessarily going pro 2 unless you plan to mount it outside with a constant supply of power. Without dedicated power and using on battery the pro 2 is essentially the same as the pro with no added benefits. Both the Pro and Pro 2 work with Alexa show.

After using the cameras for a few days I have come to the conclusion that the cameras are worth buying. It comes with a base station with integrated siren, two wireless cameras with night vision, two rechargeable batteries, two magnetic mounts, a network cable and a charger. Installation was really easy, I would say the hardest part is trying to figure out where to put the cameras. Some of the things I liked were that, the app works great, the batteries have only discharged about 10% in the last week and it is seemingly unaffected by rain. In the day, the video quality is very clear and it has a nice wide field of vision. However, the negative qualities of the cameras become apparent at dusk. The night vision is tolerable and the the camera quality continually degrades as it becomes darker outside. The video is displayed in grey scale and the field of vision is reduced to about 15 feet. Also, the cameras haven't detect all movement outside. It seems to only detect movement from about 20 ft away. With all that being said, it is still a good security camera, that will get the job done.

Arlo Pro - Upgraded

We're very satisfied Arlo Pro Gen 1 users. The 2 camera setup covers the majority of our single story house from front door to rear. The Arlo Pro G1 is a great camera, so when I read that G2 could also be used with the same setup and had some upgrades I thought this was the perfect way to upgrade our Arlo setup.
For starters, the cameras are about the same size of the Arlo Pro G1's. This setup also includes the base station. I couldn't tell any difference between the G1 and G2 base stations, but I was able to tell the difference between the cameras. For those that don't know, one of the biggest selling points for Arlo Pro's is that they're wireless - you can mount them wherever you need them to be.
The Arlo Pro G2 supports a full 1080p recording option which is an upgrade from the 720p in G1. Granted, it's not like I'm streaming video of my cats while I'm gone looking for the best HD quality, but in the vent of break-in or accident, clarity matters. The Pro G2's 1080p definition is evident from the video streams, but don't expect big screen HD quality.
The Also Pro G2 has several upgrades, aside from the recording resolution, from the G1 that make it really handy. First, the Arlo Pro G2 supports continuous recording if you plug the camera in to power instead of running on battery. This is especially helpful if you want to have one camera always on. Second, the Arlo Pro G2 supports activity zones while plugged in while the G1 doesn't.
Some of the cool features that the G2 shares with the G1 are:
* 7-day cloud recording history free
* Wireless camera option
* 130 degree field of vision
* Night vision mode
* Motion / Audio alerts
* Base station audio alarm option
* Alexa compatible (No Apple HomeKit support)
If you're thinking about a great option for home security video that provides the flexibility to be wire-free or wired, 1080p HD recording and the ability to integrate with Arlo Pro G1 setup, then the Arlo Pro G2 is something that should be on your shopping list!

I’ve had Arlo pro2 for more than a month and it has been performing way better than the arlo pro which I had used it for 2 years.
Pros; connects with the base faster, high picture quality, free recording for a week, super easy to install.
Cons; app still sucks, battery life needs to be improved, speaker on the camera is still useless, bell ring needs to be added to package as it’s an expensive home security system.

We chose this system for a couple of reasons-
1. Ease of set-up.
2. No monthly fees/contract required.
3. Wireless cameras (easy to move around.)
It's a really good system for the money. Sure, there are better out there, but for much higher price. The connectivity is pretty good, we have placed up to 75 feet from the base.
There is a bit of a "lag" to capture an "incident." Many times we say, "If it started 3 seconds earlier..." I think that gap is filled if you pay the optional monthly fees.
One feature I wish Arlo had included would be a "one button, all cameras on" option, or configuration. I usually turn on the cameras when everyone leaves the house, which has to be done individually in the settings for each camera.
Battery life- I read several reviews with some variation. With our cameras on during the work day...off in the evenings and most nights...off when we are home for the weekend- from full charge, after 1 month, most cameras are at 87-91%. There is ONE that is only 70%, so may be a faulty battery, or more "use" because it is the one by the front door.
All in all, it's a great little system for the price. Our "wish list" of options could be fulfilled with a much higher end system, but this works for our needs for now.

So far my initial impression is, this system is great. No kidding you can have this up and running in 30 minutes. That includes mounting the brackets. My only concern so far is the small screw used to mount the bracket outdoors. I am concerned a good wind could knock it off. I would also feel better if Netgear, like Ring products guarantees a replacement product if someone steals the device/camera. I get that you will have it on video, but it would be nice to have that extra layer of comfort. Otherwise the system is fantastic and picture quality is outstanding. Definitely recommend!

I bought these because I wanted battery powered cameras to use, knowing we plan to move soon and I want to take them with us. These were easy to set up. The instructions said the batteries were fully charged in the box, but I did not find that to be true. One wouldn't even power on the charge was so low, the other was at about 80%. I fully charged both. Initially we tried to have Geek Squad do the installation, but they didn't show up and then canceled the second appointment. In the end we got our money back on the install and were able to install them ourselves (if I would've known how easy it was, I wouldn't have wasted time booking the Geek Squad). There is definitely a delay before they activate. One doesn't catch things as often as the other camera, although that could be the positioning - we may need to tweak it. Since I live on a fairly active road, I anticipate I'll need to change batteries frequently. We didn't use the magnetic mount because we didn't want them taken easily - but they'll be easy enough to replace the battery. The camera is crystal clear though, I'm really happy with that. We just got these so hopefully the good review will stay that way in time.

I bought Arlo Pro 2 after a lot of research. The past reviews were pretty close to my experience. Ease of set up is an easy 5. I set up 4 cameras in 45 minutes, even with drilling a hole for mounting on the 3 outside cameras. Battery life - camera 1 faces front entrance, after a month still has 45%. Side of house and back yard still at 57% and 81%. I have a camera plugged in indoors and will swap that battery and use it as a recharger. Strike 1 for Arlo - why not include a battery charger instead of having to use a battery from a camera plugged in. The picture quality is GREAT. My only other issue (that kept me from giving it a 5) is the response lag. This is well documented in the other reviews, but when UPS comes, the delivery guy is on my steps before the recording starts. I still get a good pic of anyone on my steps, but I wish the quick record feature worked on all cameras, not just the plugged in ones. This camera system is easy to set up and easy to use. If someone was trying to get into my house (or break into my car, which is why I bought this), I'm sure it would notify me (maybe 2-3 seconds after coming into frame) and would give me good resolution pics. I would buy this again and would recommend to a friend.

These cameras are easy to set up and do a pretty good job. I've only used them indoors but they do produce a decent video. I have noticed as the battery discharges, the camera reaction becomes slower - the connection is slower and it's slower in recording motion detection. I'll get the alert that motion has been detected but by the time the camera kicks into the automatic record function, the motion has already come & gone (i.e., will see the door close after the person has exited). The audio is good on all but one of the four cameras - the 4th one is more garbled and the volume is very low so hard to hear. I've got it adjusted to the most sensitive setting but no change in audio quality on the 4th camera. Three of the four cameras are good on the battery usage but one seems to use up the battery pack twice as fast. Overall they do what they say and it's a quick fix versus a wired system. I bought an extra battery pack to be able to make a quick change but be advised these are expensive!

I got the arlo pro 2 dual camera system to add a little piece of mind incase something happened when I was away. Setup and pairing was pretty easy considering that I have never set anything like this up before. The phone app was extremely easy with just a click to get it, and the on screen menus are very self explanatory not leaving any real room to mess it up. I've had mine up for several weeks now and the batteries are still showing them to have about 98% charge (battery percentage is shown in the phone app). They display pretty good videos giving decent detail which one my main worry, and the night vision is impressive. I like the fact that you can use your phone to actually talk to people through the camera using the app. That comes in really handy with package delivery services as well as scaring my wife when she comes in at night lol. I personally am overall very pleased with the system at this point, and am looking forward to see how well it holds up over time.

First I must say that I own a Ring video doorbell and subscribe to Xfinity Home security with 1 camera. When I got this camera system I really wanted to have something set up in my backyard and a way to check in on my dogs for when we leave them home alone.
Setting up these cameras was very easy, I think there was only one issue when setting up but it was not a big deal. I had everything up and running in about 15 minutes or so.
Once set up you must go into the settings and adjust the alerts. By default it set up a motion alert for every little thing that passes, including when you first try to place it and adjust it, then every time something passes it. I just shut the notifications off completely.
Now I can easily check in on my precious fur babies and even talk to them via the 2 way communication built into the camera. I highly recommend this system, I actually love it.

Okay but only when used with AC Power

I bought the 4 camera Arlo Pro 2 system, and the quality of the video is reasonable, but as they ship 'battery only' these cameras are toys. Overall if used on AC power, this is a nice balance of features for the price. The free 7 day recording storage is quite adequate, supports external USB drives for recording so you get both local and off-line storage. It would be nice to be able to get the specific type of motion detected (car, person, animal) without the paid subscription, but that's a premium feature with everyone else with a capability except the Netatmo camera. The lack of official outdoor accessories is disappointing, as is the lack of accessories to pan and tilt.
Without battery the cameras are painfully slow and suffer lots of issues not connecting when you go 'live' view in the app or HomeKit - often timing out after 30 seconds. At best the battery powered cameras take 5 to 20 seconds to connect, making them useless as a door cam or anytime you want to open the app and see who/what's there. While they record motion, battery powered you can't limit the area's (zones) the camera detects so any motion triggers a recording. With a camera on my driveway, because it's short and virtually any angle included the street, it would trigger a recording with every passing car. There is a sensitivity setting, but lowered to ignore cars it would also ignore people almost until they were almost on the camera. The few seconds delay the recordings (80-100 per day) would miss the actual car that triggered the motion - the only cars captured were those that followed another. I was able to drive in, unload groceries in 5 trips, and while the camera recorded 6 events there was perhaps a total of 3 seconds of me walking out of the scene - useless.
Can't say how long a battery charge would have lasted, but because you can't define zones for motion (which would have saved a lot of battery wasted on false hits), my cameras were all at or below 50% in three days and several hundred (mostly false hit) online recordings.
I bought a couple outdoor AC adapters, and the cameras I installed those on are totally different. For the most part they are responsive to connections with both the app and HomeKit, usually in 1 to 5 seconds. Being able to define activity zones, those cameras now record events mostly only when there is real motion, and the recordings usually include what created the motion.
The biggest problem with Arlo Pro 2 cameras on AC is Arlo (Netgear) has exactly 1 official product to support using the camera outside on AC power, and it has a whooping 8' power cord. Of 4 locations I placed cameras, I could only use their adaptor on one camera in a permeant installation. So you're stuck having to sort through the 3rd party options to use this outside, which is not as easy as it seems as there is a family of Arlo cameras which all don't share the same power options, there is a difference in 'charging' and 'powering' - some adapters do one but not the other, and when you go through reviews of these 3rd party products there are cases where a product seemed to work for others is not recognized as supported by the same model camera of other reviewers. It's disappointing how little support Arlo provides for using these camera's outdoors.
The official outdoor AC adaptor is better than the third party options I've tried at sealing the power connection, but it still doesn't feel that sealed, especially after exposure time to sun, wind, and rain.
A feature I liked is the base station communicated with the cameras using it's own radios. That's good - it's not taking bandwidth from your Wifi, but bad in it limits the range/placement you can install cameras. I had to relocate the Arlo base station from where I'd prefer so all the camera's had a cleaner signal. Something to consider if you are going to have a large or spread out installation is having to buy an additional base station or more.
The base station it has an alarm/siren. Not sure the point as while it's loud it's not 'alarm siren' loud, and there is no volume adjustment that would make it not annoying loud so you could leverage it to chirp or sound when motion is detected on one or specific cameras.

These Camera were exactly what i was looking for. Except the battery life kind of stinks, claims several moths of stand by time. But I feel like I'm charging several times a week . Reasonable night vision. Records any motion. No extra service fees but there is a service plan available if you want. The App is a little lacking but the system is pretty much plug and play. Setup was easy.
We had a situation where we needed to monitor inside the house. I was able to use the 4 Cameras to setup multiple zones and still keep private areas private. Just be careful when your not fully awake. I believe there may be several videos of my in my underwear in my archives. Thankfully it can be configured for local storage.
