I cannot say enough good things about this setup. The battery life is out of this world and they are so easy to setup. I have a set of other name cameras I bought off Amazon which I thought were good, these blow them away.

I bought this for my home, and being being millennial that I am, I was impressed with the ease of setup, personalized configurations, and compatibility with my phone. Loved it so much, I bought another for my office. Unfortunately, you have to pay extra if you have to bases and want to monitor with one smartphone, but it wasn't too pricey (10bucks). But super cool and battery life is pretty great too.

Great cameras, so-so app, buy optional mounts

Cameras have great video quality and battery life. I've had mine for about a month and most are still at 95% while the one at the front door that gets the most work is at 88%. The included circular magnetic mounts, while a great idea if they actually worked, are a complete fail. The way they hook onto the wall screw ensure that there isn't a tight enough connect between the mount and the wall, so that when you put the camera on the mount, the mount comes loose due to the weight of the camera. Buy the optional outdoor mounts and you'll be golden. The app, while functional, is slow to load and even slower to play live footage. It takes about 25-30 seconds from the time you tap the app to open it to when you'll actually be able to see live footage. Most of this time occurs after you click a camera waiting for it to go live. That said, the free subscription is great. You get a week's worth of saved footage (motion activated, not continual footage) for free. This system works best as a supplement to an existing security system. I have a friend who is using this as his only layer of security and I just don't see how you would have the time to get the notification that motion has been detected on your phone, view the live feed of the camera in question (which again takes 25-30 seconds from app launch) and then manually activate the alarm. However, as a video supplement to already existing system, I think it does it's job well even given the cons I mentioned above.

    Arlo Pro

I purchased the Arlo Pro based on the reviews that I saw on Best Buy and Amazon. It is a pretty nice unit, especially the wireless feature. I wish Best Buy sold the 5 cam package instead of the 4. The resolution is okay close up, but if you try to zoom in, it's really grainy and it hard to see the person's face. I especially don't like the fact that it has like a 3 second delay before recording after motion has been detect. I believe most if not all purchasers would agree with this. As for the camera mounts, the magnet is strong, but anyone can just come by and take it or knock it off and these are expensive cameras to replace. As for the screw on mount, it's too bad you cannot screw the camera in deep as it would only take about 4-5 winds to put it on or take it off. Netgear released the Arlo Pro 2 with the 1080p cameras a couple of weeks after I had purchased the Arlo Pro which would take care of the recording delay, however it would require you to have continuous power hookup. So I decided to return my Arlo Pro and go for the Arlo Pro 2. However, before purchasing the Arlo Pro 2, I decided to read some reviews. Most reviews were positive, however, there were some concerns regarding the new release. People that had purchase the Arlo Pro 2 definitely liked the 1080p cameras, however, the night vision was not as good as the Arlo Pro cameras which only had 750p. Another concern was that some of the cameras would go offline line for no reason. Lastly, the battery also tend to drain much faster and some drained right away, so definitely some battery issues with the Arlo Pro 2. So I will definitely stay way from the Arlo Pro 2 until Netgear works out the bugs. All in all, the Arlo Pro is decent if you don't need facial recognition from far away because of the 750i resolution and would not be annoyed with the 3 second recording delay after motion has been detected.

If you are not a fan of running cable through your attic, outside of your home, configuring DVRs, and opening ports in your private network to see the camera from your mobile device with a less than stellar mobile app that is hardly updated. Then my friends I give you the Arlo System by Netgear!!! The Pro Line of the Netgear Arlo security system is a significant upgrade over the original Arlo system introduced in 2015. All the great original features are included, but the Cameras are slightly larger now, come with rechargeable batteries, two way audio, better cameras, the ability to save to a USB drive from the base station, and the base station its's self has a built in emergency Siren that is very loud!! Arlo's simple to set up, configure and install the camera are various points in and around your home was a big selling point for me. I had the Camera's connected tot he base station and mounted around my home in about an hour. The Camera's provide a great view of my property and quickly alert my mobile device if/when some one or something comes with in its motion detection area . Via your mobile device or by logging into the web portal from your PC you can configure the Motion Sensitivity, how long the device records for, areas the camera is set to detect motion etc. I found it very simple to configure. The cloud base system is free for life if you maintain the basic service which is 7 days worth of recorded video or 2gigs of data. It will support up to 5 devices, any higher than that and you have to pay a monthly/yearly fee based on your desired amount of storage time and space offerings on their website. The base station can support up to 16 devices. You can also Download the recorded videos from the web portal and store them on your own devices. Or you can plug USB storage into the base station and it will record to that instead of keeping the data in the cloud. I highly recommend this system for its ease if set up and use, and expandability if the need arises. Netgear also offers many accessories you ca purchase separately if you wantvto change the color of your camera's Via "skins" or different mounts for various different mounting options.

    Great wireless system

I researched the different types of camers before choosing Arlo Pro. This is a great wireless camera system that really functions well. You just put up the cameras where you want them, and they connect wirelessly to the base station. The base station needs to be hooked up to your cable modem to send all the video to the cloud, where you can view or download them. I've had this system for about two months now, and the cameras function really well. The motion detection works good to start recording the video. This then alerts you on your phone via the app, and you can livestream the video, or watch recorded clips from your library anywhere with your phone. The 2-way audio works good. You can hear the audio on what the camera records, and I'm told you can hear your voice as you talk through the cameras to whoever is by the cameras. The only few things that I wished would be better was sometimes motion detection doesn't pick up everything (like sometimes cars drive by and it doesn't pick it up)--however it is probably because those cars are farther away from the camera. I have no doubt that it does a great job detecting motion closer to the camera. Also, I wish in the future it could be more HD, especially when zooming in. When you zoom in with these cameras, it gets a little grainy, so it's hard to make out license plates, and such. Overall, this has been a great addition to my security system, and it is also just a lot of fun. Monitoring my house while I'm away anytime I want to--you catch a lot of crazy, funny stuff you never knew was happening.

Easy to setup, and camera quality is decent. Compared to a wired system I do wish that it was full hd resolution, and that it had continuous recording, but for a wireless motion activated camera, you can't do much better.

I have really enjoyed these cameras so far. You will see many reviews about the delay in motion detecting and it is true. But, you can adjust the sensitivity and it really helps. If you are looking for top notch true surveillance then maybe you need to spend more money. For general use they are perfect. Excellent battery life and very easy to use. You can also customize he settings. It takes some time but if you do it right, you can create a personalized experience where they record at certain times and not at others.

Easy to set up. I have bee using one camera over my front door for a few weeks and the battery is still around 80%. The video quality and sound are very good and adjustable. The online storage is free, though limited. However, the local storage via USB on the base station makes up for the limited cloud storage. The only negative is the mobile app can be a tad finicky/glitchy.... though support is good

Great picture on the cameras. We have 2 inside and 2 outside. They work well and we use the motion detection recording as an added security feature at night. The scheduling also allows us to not use up the batteries.

I absolutely love this camera system! The video and sound is very clear. The sensitivity is spot on to movement. I have them all over my house inside and out and I feel safe and covered! I love that I get notifications immediately and they aren’t delayed. The only negative I’ve found is that the two way speaker is pretty spotty and doesn’t work very well. I don’t really need that option so I don’t care too much though. These are super easy to use and set up as well!

I was a bit concerned investing in these due to them being wireless, however they have surprised me! Very clear picture and very easy set up! No wires to run this made it even easier. Very stable connection as well. I am satisfied with the purchase. One tid bit if you will... the cameras will NOT pick up motion behind a window. They have to be on the outside of your home.

We wanted something that we could put at the front door to see who was there if the bell rang and to be able to keep an eye on packages dropped off, so we looked at Ring, Skybell, and Arlo. Without getting into that analysis here, we decided we liked the Arlo camera ecosystem best, so we bought that as well as a couple accessories. Pros: - Super easy to sync and setup cameras (essentially WPS to Arlo network) - No additional fee for online video storage - Pretty good video quality - Local storage in case your wifi goes down Cons: - Given the setup (Arlo plugs into your modem and broadcasts a new network which cameras connect to) there is some latency, so it isn't the best video doorbell solution - Two way audio works like a walkie talkie - you have to hold button on your phone to speak and cannot hear from other side while you're holding button... was expecting more of a press to enable speaking from phone solution - Given motion sensing in Arlo Pros, it sometimes misses what you would assume is "start" of someone being in field of view Overall these are pretty good and as a strict wireless camera solution, they are great. But if you're looking at these as an alternative to Ring or Skybell, these work, but aren't strictly speaking a substitute in my mind. The latency issues could be addressed with an extender/ repeater like Ring has, so hopefully Arlo comes up with that soon...

We install professional NVR/DVR camera systems in our business. But this time for my home I didn’t want to go through a lot of hassle so I thought I would give the Arlo a try. Simple setup though the WiFi range of the cameras was not as much distance as I would have liked. I ended up using a repeater to bridge my network to the Arlo to get it to the center of my house. Recording and notification in the app are solid and being able to use USB for local recording is a plus. The picture could be better but I’ll be adding on some version 2 cameras to see if those are better.
