I purchased the Arlo - Pro Indoor/Outdoor HD Wire-Free Security Camera as another add on camera to my existing Arlo system. The price is great. I like the Arlo Pro because of being able to hear sound along with the motion.

I 'm very pleased with my Whirlpool dishwasher purchase, the look is sleek and it operates very quietly. The dishes came out extremely clean, spotless and bone dry; using the steam dry feature. No complaints here!

The Arlo Pro system have been a real delight using! This one took a while to review because there is so much to this item that it's almost fun to use. It's funny because the software actually makes it that way even if the uses are for Security. It is an intuitive and easy to use system that can keep watch everywhere if you have more then a few cameras you can check all your surroundings. The design is sleek and smooth with white around it though I would have wanted 2 black cameras for them to be more stealthy for outdoor areas. This have been the theme of "causal" products lately. The setup was really simple and easy. Plugged in the base into the router then I took 2 cameras and placed them in my home. I set one up in the bedroom and another one in the kitchen. The cameras in hand felt solid and weighted as they won't move once placed down as you can count on its reliability. I left home for work the next day to test how it would handle LTE streaming from the phone and it worked fine. The video was clear and smooth. It works well after I connected everything perfectly, just follow the setup instructions provided and everything should flow. It really is 100% wireless free and could reach around my area of the house as well. The only problem I have had with the Arlo Pro software from the app that sometimes the video signal takes a long time to load. Overall the performance and setup was great. With some of the features this camera system one can also set the camera up for sirens as there is plenty to choose from, mobile alerts come fast to your home if you set up motion detection. The cloud is nice but they only give you 7 free days with upgrade options. The best part about all of this is perhaps the local backup of your recordings so if you have a HDD just store them if you don't want to rely on the cloud. 2-way Audio is nice with loud and clear sound. Really this thing is packed with so many features that its amazing what Netgear was able to put into this device. I say it's worth the price only if you are willing to invest into at lease 4 cameras. I can really see this device taking off if they just improve more of the software. That will be what makes or break this device going forward. I would definitely recommend this to anyone (friends and family) who is looking for a future forward camera system. To have security is never a bad thing and this product from Netgear definitely shows security at its finest wirelessly. The direction this product is going is definitely something people should keep an eye on. Just a few more tweeks to the software and they could lead the way in the wireless camera industry.

I have two kids of my own and nothing against kids playing around the neighborhood but we had some issues of kids (ages 10-12) messing with our stuff (stealing, vandalizing, doorbell prank) around the house, but now with the Arlo 4 camera set up we caught them, word got out that we have cameras and no more issues! Overall, these cameras are awesome! Hi def, night vision is incredible, talk to and listen to audio from each camera, sends instant notifications of motion that any of your cameras pick to your smart phone or tablet, and best thing of all, they are Wireless! Can't say enough on how impressed I am with these cameras! So easy to install too! If I were to have a negative issue about these cameras, in which I really don't but you have to adjust the video sensitivity on each camera so it doesn't pick up everything. But home owners discretion on how much sensitivity they want! Overall, awesome buy! Already highly recommended it!

The advertised HD 720p picture resolution is nowhere near HD. It is more like old VCR picture resolution! Don't even think about zooming. It becomes so blurry to the point that is difficult to recognize faces! Stop advertising this as 720pHD !!

This system (base station plus two cameras) worked for nearly two months and then died. I get a single amber LED with a repeating sequence of one green, one amber 1 off for a few seconds, then all three LEDs green for one second, then back to a single solid amber LED. Tried resetting, removing from account, power cycling, etc. Called tech support and did more of the same. Processing for a replacement now. Maybe the next one will last longer. Fingers-crossed.

I received this to replace my first generation Arlo base station mainly as I wanted the PRO features, mainly the attached local storage option. The system came in a very nice display box, the two cameras were on top in a clear plastic box, and the only way to get that open easily is to open the bottom box, remove the two smaller boxes containing the rest of the system, and then remove the top clear box so you can gain access to the cameras. The cameras are attached to the box with two large screws and are easy to remove. I just used finger pressure but they are slotted for a coin. The rest of the system, packed neatly into the two boxes in the bottom of the lower main box. I went online to arlo.com and downloaded the manuals under the support section, “I’d rather read PDF files on my computer” and followed the setup instructions, the whole process is very simple. Then I connected the patch cable to my router, plugged in the power cord and set up the system in my already established Arlo account. the base station appeared right away after logging in and showed that it needed a software update, so I let that run and the system rebooted. Next I installed the batteries in the cameras, “they are fully charged from the factory” and went through the pairing process in the manual. One thing though, the batteries are covered in a very thin, tape like, protective plastic and it’s not easy to see right off. You have to remove that before inserting it in the camera or the batteries will not make contact. Then I logged into my account, made sure my two new cameras were there and tried them out, they worked . Next, while logged in I removed the old cameras from my previous system and paired those to the new system. The old version one cameras paired fine, “also verified they were working". I proceeded to go outside and place all the cameras. Nothing different from the old system, I already had the mounts placed so I didn’t have to put any of those up. The magnetic mount makes it a breeze to place the cameras on the mount. I used the live view mode to make sure the cameras were aimed correctly and then proceeded to set up all the preferences the same as my old system. I also plugged in a 32gb thumb drive in USB port 1 and the system automatically set that up for use. We tried out the audio function of the cameras, and it works, but even setting the speaker output at 100% the speakers aren’t really loud. I’m sure someone at our front door will hear them but they will have to pay pretty good attention. The cameras are a good 7-8’ from the door and around 9’ high so if they were closer that would help a lot. I’ve noticed over the last couple days that the motion sensitivity of the new cameras seems to be better than the old one. It picked up a cat walking down the sidewalk the other night, the old version cameras never picked one up. They also pick us up walking down our driveway to the mailbox; the originals only did that on occasion. Video quality with the new cameras seems a little better and night B&W mode is much better. My big concern is the battery life of the rechargeable batteries in the Pro cameras. Our old gen 1 Arlo cameras lasted 5 month on the most used camera, and are plenty strong on the others. I’m hoping that I get at least a couple months out of them as I don’t want to be taking them down to charge and then putting up and repositioning. Something you may want to think about if you want to put the cameras up high and not within easy reach. I’m going to get a spare battery and the charge station, which will shorten any downtime when the batteries run low. One spare should be enough as the batteries shouldn’t run out at the same time. In all this is an excellent update to a system we already liked, the added local storage option is really a welcome addition. At least I know the videos will be recorded, and saved if the network connection goes down. For the initial price of the system it would be convenient if they included the charge station. I like the idea of charging the batteries there than in the camera itself. The cameras are also quite a bit larger than the original ones, not a big problem, but due to the size increase they can’t be angled quite as much as the older ones on the magnet mount. I have them mixed so that the areas I need more of an angle on the mount I used the original camera on. My one complaint about the cameras is the rubber cover over the USB port doesn’t like to stay in and keeps popping out, I may have to put a piece of tape over it to keep it in protecting the port.

    A Great Option for Security

These cameras are a great choice for added home security. They are very small in physical size and extremely easy to set up. I was up in running in a matter of a few minutes. The setup is done with the Arlo app, and it does a good job of walking you through the process. There are some great standout features of these little guys. The motion-sensing recording is great. I had to dial down the sensitivity, because they were actually picking up too much movement outside (dust, etc.). Speaking of outside, the ability to mount these outdoors is another great feature, the included mounting hardware is dead-simple to set up, and doesn't require you to run a bunch of wires. Along with the ability to record based on movement, they have the option to record based on audio, which is a welcome addition. The downside of the wireless, is depending on your mounting locations, the hub may not quite reach. Which results in a bit of a stuttering signal. I originally placed the hub in the second story of my house, towards the back of the house. It had a bit of trouble keeping a signal. I can't fault the hardware though. It was a decent distance, not to mention trying to go through brick and glass to the camera outside. I was able to solve this by adding a wireless extender and plugging the Arlo hub into it, closer to the front of the house, downstairs. The recordings are good quality, even at night (yes, they have night vision as well). The app allows you to view live feeds, and download clips directly to your phone (iOS or Android), or PC. I used the Arlo software on an Android phone (Pixel), and it worked most of the time. I did have a few hiccups. It seemed to crash on occasion, when resuming the app. Speaking of the app, some things weren't quite as simple to figure out. I mentioned adjusting the motion sensitivity earlier. It wasn't immediately clear to me on how to make the adjustment. Going into the motion detection test, there is a sensitivity slider there, and I thought that was how to adjust it initially. After a bit more time, I realized that when you're customizing your "Mode" rules, you can adjust the sensitivity there. Makes sense. Speaking of which, the Mode rules are a great option also. You can have your Arlo send you either an app notification or email (or both) when it detects motion, along with recording the clip. Arlo will store those clips in the cloud for you for 7 days too. You can purchase a longer time frame, or buy a hardware backup to plug in, but it seems like most people will just want to save the clips necessary. If you want the quick pros/cons: Pros: Great quality, easy setup, excellent features, smart ideas in the app, easy to use Cons: Range may be an issue for some (pretty easily solved though), the app seems to have a couple minor kinks (I'm betting these get worked out soon. The app is overall great.)

I bought this 1 1/2 years ago and none of the batteries will not charge because of the connection ribbon in back of the camera behind the hinge and the hardware component(inside)cracked one by one! This happens because of opening and closing the camera during the replacing newly charged batteries. Now I get a red( ! )Saying "Incompatible charger has been detected.........." Yet it's the Original charger set. You can see inside the torn ribbon(see photo). This Is a design Flaw and Should Be Recalled!! I want to get the Charger Pack but I'm reading that there not working either after use.

    Great HD Video Security Option

My wife and I recently invested in a home security system - but unfortunately, it didn't offer a video option. While we were at Best Buy, we came across the Arlo and Arlo Pro. I came home, did some reading and pulled the trigger and I'm really glad we did! For starters, if you are thinking of the Arlo, spend some extra money and go for the Arlo Pro - you get weatherproof cameras as well as rechargeable batteries. So big bonus points for convenience and adaptability. We set them up inside our house, one camera covering the front door and the other covering the back - the whole setup was pretty quick and painless. The batteries ship fully charged from the factory, so it's nice to not have to loose a day due to charging or swapping cameras and batteries. The core of the Arlo system is the Hub. During the setup, I found that the Hub requires an ethernet connection - so be sure you have space on a switch our router. There's no WiFi option for the Arlo, but since you're dealing with streaming HD video - that's not really a bad thing. The Arlo app also has a special setup mode where it helps you point the camera to get the best angle and coverage. The cameras themselves come with really strong magnetic wall mounts, so you can place a wall mount where you want it and then attach the camera and point it where desired. During the setup, you'll need to press a button on the Hub and camera to sync them, and you can only sync one camera at a time - so be sure that you haven't hidden the Hub in a difficult to reach place. Once you have them up and running, you can put the system into several modes: Armed, Disarmed and Scheduled. We use the Scheduled mode and leave it off while we're home and arm it around the time we normally leave the house. Here's where things get interesting - when my wife worked from home, my phone was blowing up with motion alerts from Arlo - I had over 70 in one day. That's when I realized that if someone was home, I'd have to disarm the Arlo otherwise I'd loose my battery just from alerts. The video was captured in short, easy to watch clips and was pretty clear to watch. Another cool feature of the Arlo Pro is that basic cloud video capture is included for free - but there's other tiers you can opt in for an additional cost. We've had the system running for over a week now and the cameras still show a nearly full charge in the Arlo app - so it's nice to know that the cameras won't need frequent recharging breaks. Bottom line - the Arlo Pro is a solid system that you can expand on and add cameras as needed. The Hub also is equipped with a siren, so if you get a video that something's wrong in your house, you can turn on an alarm as well. The Arlo Pro is a solid system so far and I think it's a great addition to our existing home security setup.

I finally decided that I need to add more of a piece of mind to my family and I, so I obtained the Netgear Arlo Pro Security System. This was the first time to every venture into a home security system. Overall, I am highly satisfied and it wasn’t any bit of a headache to setup. The system was as simple as plug and play. I hooked up the home base into my router; put the batteries within the cameras; sync them to the base and I was up and running. The quality of the video and audio is amazing. When I connect to watch the live video feed, there is about a 4 second delay (understandable) but I can hear things quite clear, such as conversations, that are more than 25 feet away from the camera. I am able to see things clear while it is pitch black. I am able to connect to the camera remotely and I can speak through the camera’s speaker and it could be heard about 10 feet away. I am connect to my system any time and watch live video feed when I am away. The motion sensor works well. When motion is detected, notifications are sent to my phone. I am able to access the log within each camera and play back what triggered the motion sensor. Like I said, this is my first home security system and this was extremely easy to set up. The range of the system is also impressive. I have one camera within the basement and the base unit is on the second floor. It is an older house with plaster-and-lath walls. I am quite satisfied with this, great job Netgear.

While our home is already monitored by a home security company we did not have video cameras as part of the existing system. Nether Arlo makes it incredibly easy to setup security cameras within your home and to receive alerts when movement is detected by the cameras. Netgear provides iOS and Android apps for the Arlo camera system. I personally used the iOS app on an iPad and setting up the Arlo base station and the two cameras was easily accomplished in around 10 minutes. Installing the camera where you want it to monitor your home or business is easy. The kit provides mounts that are installed with a single screw and the rear of the camera contains a magnet that secures the camera to the mount. The Arlo app provides a positioning capability that allows you to use the app to review the position of the camera and make minor adjustments. The video quality of the camera is very impressive and can be customized within the app to either choose higher quality video or a lower quality video to extend the battery life of the camera. The system is easily expanded by purchasing additional Arlo cameras and adding them to your Arlo account using the iOS and Android apps. Netgear provides free Cloud storage of the videos the system captures for 7 days and subscriptions are available if you would like to store the videos longer than that. As someone who works from home, the system makes it really easy to tell whether I should get up and answer the front door during a meeting. You can easily tell whether this is FedEx or simply some neighborhood kids looking to play with your children. While the iOS and Android apps are a great start, it would be awesome to see Netgear add support for Windows and MacOS apps so that the cameras can be monitored on your PC or Mac. Overall, this is an incredibly affordable and impressive security video system and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family!

I've used a couple different security cameras in my home over the years and this system tops them all. First off, it's cordless, which lets you place them literally anywhere and allows you to move them at a moments notice. The feature I like most is the magnetic mounting ball (pictured below) that each camera comes with. You mount this to a wall, and not the camera itself. Once they are mounted you can attach a camera magnetically to the ball at any angle. This allows for very easy tweaking for camera angle perfection, and also to remove the cameras easily when they need charging. If you don't want to mount them on a wall, they conveniently balance well on any shelf. I keep one on top of my refrigerator. Speaking of charging, the app shows the estimated battery life in each camera by percentage which really comes in handy. Since the cameras only active when there is motion or sound, you don't have to charge them too frequently unless you have them on all the time and are constantly moving in that area. There is a setting you can adjust to go with higher video quality or improve battery life. Cameras can be toggled on and off from the app on your smart phone or tablet. The siren feature is also a winner. If you are at work and get a movement or sound notification and see that you have an intruder, you can press one button in the app to turn on the siren at the base station. It is LOUD and should do the trick to scare off intruders while you contact the authorities. This system comes with free (albeit limited) cloud storage. Most products charge a fee by default so it's nice that that Netgear gives you the free option or the option to pay a small amount for more storage. I had problems with updating the firmware of the cameras but this just turned out to be an app glitch, as they showed as updated after restarting the app. I didn't have any trouble with Wi-Fi signal strength around my 2300 square foot home, which is something I always worry about. The connections remained stable. Overall, this is a fantastic indoor/outdoor security camera system that solves a lot of problems that come with wired systems.
