Purchased this to replace a Netgear product. My experience with Netgear was negative as their customer service is not good. The Surfboard works perfect with my Xfinity internet and Velop WiFi system. The Linksys app is far superior to the netgear app which is useless. The only downside to my router/modem is that I am not able to subscribe to xfinity 1 gig internet plus voice with this unit. The highest speed compatible with this u it is 400 mbps which works fine. I can only imagine how the 1 gig would perform. I still would recommend this product as it was simple to install and activate.

COMCAST MADE ME DO IT!

I had been thinking of doing this for over a year. When Comcast raised the rental fee 40% from 10 to 14 a month, they made me do it! This will pay for itself in 14 months. The last modem I had from Comcast lasted over 4 years and only replaced it when they told me I needed a newer one for a faster speed. Installation on this modem was Far easier than I ever expected. The whole process is pretty much completely automated. You need to put in your account sign on information and the rest is very simple. Don't hesitate to do this if you think it's going to take a while to install and be completely frustrating. It's only been installed for about 4 days and it may seem a bit early to declare this but, so far so good. No loss of speed, no service interruptions and no problems with phone service as well! Next is Hulu live!

this router is very easy to install, has a very nice look, with a very modern design, it really has strong signal, and is not that expensive as some similar routers. Now I just have to wait to know the durability.

I have always preferred to own my modems whether cable or DSL. The installation tech from Xfinity merely needed to call in to have this added to my account and it connected seamlessly. All services function and after running CAT 5e to several rooms, I get the download speed I'm buying in each room. I like the Arris web server interface for access to the functionality. Xfinity apparently doesn't allow access to the setup page to rename the modem, but I guess one can't have everything. I'd buy this again. It also fits inside a Leviton Structured Media Enclosure.

Was looking for a helpful money saver for my parents to lower their already high cable bundle bill and this did the trick as it’s a router cable modem and telephone modem all in one. Setup was super easy with a nice clean easy to read panel on the back longest step was calling the cable company to get them to provision the modem for phone and add it as your own for internet. If your looking to lower your cable bill and not get too complicated this is the way to go no problems whatsoever since purchased 7 months ago and the one time during setup I did have to call arris their customer support was super nice and reminded me of the 2 year warranty.

One small unit does all Xfinity Voice, WiFi, 'Net

This integrated but affordable unit does it all in a small deskspace: WiFi + Router for PC + modem for Xfinity VOIP voice telephones. Fast enough for ANY needs even tho more expensive units offer wasted extra speed. I was able to get a WiFi signal easily - and Xfinity techs could see the device easily, but the internet + PC didn't get correct 'authorization' to go on the Internet. After hours of trying, and multiple reboots and use of the PC XFINITY APP it connected. And it 'accepts' a WiFi extender to improve TV streaming. Go slow with the Xfinity App--that was the key.

I had a few Arris cable modems before and was always happy with them. This one is absolutely the VERY BEST I have owned !!!!! Insulation was east as pie. One phone call to Xfinity ( only one ring )
The lady did all things one has to do when upgrading from one modem to another. Everything works great ..... the modem is so much faster and the Wifi is far reaching with out any drops. This Arris 2482 modem model is so superior over the Arris 9600 model that I had before. I was worried about the switch ...... but this new modem is outstanding. I recommend this modem model fully.

Perfect router for Xfinity customers!!!! Works considerably faster and more reliably than the Comcast issued router that I was given when I signed up for service. Have Blast! service package and with this router I regularly get over 250 Mbps down and over 10 Mbps up. Phone works well - clear and reliable - however, caller-ID seems not to work as well. Wifi signals are strong, reliable (consistent - with few drops) and have decent range,

Exceptional speed and the easiest setup. I alone could have had no experience and do it with feet for hands. Will give you promised speeds n makes it too easy to toss the rental. Pay the 180-300 yearly rental fee forever or just buy this one time and buy other stuff instead.

Better than Netgear

I historically have purchased Netgear products, and I purchased their equivalent product; the similar Netgear product initially worked OK, but within a couple days it basically stopped working at all; I took it back and 'exchanged' it for another identical Netgear product; the second one performed very similar (not good at all); I 'exchanged' the second Netgear product for ARRIS product. The ARRIS product was easy to setup, and has worked flawlessly.

Review: Buy It, Dont Rent It! SAVE to your own pocket. Ive only had this set up now for two weeks and so far so good. My xfinity account utlizes 600 download speed and this device handles it fine so far. I had to call comcast to complete the set up that took about 45 minutes in total for them to complete on their side. The comcast tech support did the cancellation of my rental box on the phone in order to activate this arris device. Now I need to drop the rental box off at a comcast location at my convenience. Ive read that some people had to do this return before the new device was activated which makes no sense to me in case there is a problem with the new device replacing the rental device. The cost of this item that I now own will take 1 year to recoop what I would pay for the rental fee for the box being returned to comcast. With that said, I wish I did not procrastinate for the past 5 years and wish I had purchased this device at the forefront when I moved to my home instead of paying comcast for the rental. I could have kept that rental fee in my own pocket. My next step is to get roku so I can live stream to secondary tv and not pay the rental fee on that device that I dont need. Anything to cut these rising cable/tv/phone costs.

Needed an updated Modem

I needed an updated modem that was compatible with Comcast as I have been renting one from Comcast for many, many, many years. I also still had an old wireless Lynxis router I was using in conjunction with the Comcast modem. Once I confirmed with Comcast this would work and was a very popular one to use, I snatched the last one from my local Best Buy. It has not dropped at all. The modem is downstairs and my office is upstairs. Very strong signal and extremely easy to setup. Took about 30 minutes. It has been great and will pay for itself in the long run.

Good performance after setup. Took multiple calls to Xfinity to set up phone connection. If you have a telephone set up issue, and the 1st level support can't fix, you must push for "level 2 technical help". Took 24 hours for xfinity to resolve "switching issue" on their end to activate my phone. Don't let them send out a service rep as it will cost you over $100 for something they can fix on line themselves
ARRIS instructions. After hooking up Surfboard wires, cables and power you must connect (internet cable or wifi) to your electronic device, open a browser and type in 10.0.0.1 and wait up to 15 minutes before administrator page shows up. Change admin password here and Initialize wi-fi connections. Surfboard wont start transmitting wifi to your electronic devices until you do this step. Surfboard help line 888-944-4357 open 24/7 and very helpful to get set up

I bought this six months ago. I've had no problems, which wasn't true with the modem/router I was renting from Xfinity. This pays for itself each month, was easy to activate, and keeps me connected with many large and small devices in my home.
I'm not technical at all, but I've had no problem installing or running the device. The 1 GB download speed maximizes what my cable plan provides. Many other devices I considered only went to 500-600 MB for downloads.

I like a separate router and modem for my Xfinity cable internet service. I decided to connect my Xfinity cable internet service and get phone service through same. This required a phone capable router/modem like the ARRIS Surfboard with voice capable feature. Another nice thing about this ARRIS product comes with a 2-year labor and parts warranty. I have used ARRIS products without fail for years at a time. Great product and company.

I am very satisfied with my choice at purchasing the Arris Surfboard Modem wifi Router. Connecting the modem with my Xfinity provider was an easy set-up. I do not have any complaints with the speed or lagging. I made a great choiceon this purchase. I recommend this product it because it helps eliminate the monthly charge of renting from any cable company.
