Can only do 5GHz or 2.4GHz not both

When looking into the router I found out that it can only do 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz not both of them at the same time. this was annoying because it turned out my laptop did not come with a 5 GHz receiver like I thought it did. so other than needing to buy a wifi adapter it is great.
