Worked so poorly that I had to call a technician out and that is when I found out that my cable company was having problems with that particular cable modem, so I had to replace it. I would not recommend...

Saw many positive reviews of this being a go to router to buy for use with Comcast Xfinity. I could not get it work, neither could comcast tech. Returned. May have been a defective unit.

The box says it is 300 compatible but on Time warner cable's website it doesn't show this one to be compatible, nor when it was installed did it work.

In the Midwest this unit is not compatible with Comcast service. It may work for residential service but otherwise it's waste of money.

I gave this one star because my IPad disconnects often especially when I'm not in the room the router/modem is in. Very disappointed.

I bought this modem last Thursday. I have a Windows 7 laptop and and Mac laptop at home, plus a printer and a couple of phones that access the network wirelessly.
Rather than using help from Comcast to set it up, I called Motorola. The guy walked me through the process and the wireless modem worked great for about ten minutes. The Mac continued to work with the modem, but the PC did not. It could see the modem and it would tell me the signal was fine, but would not reconnect with it. So I called Motorola back and the guy explained to me that it was a Windows 7 problem. I then spent over an hour on the phone with two guys from India who supposedly fixed something to make it work. Based upon what I saw them do on the screen, they did not appear to make any changes to Windows, but rather only appeared to work in the motorola set up screens. In any case, neither the Mac or the PC worked the next morning. So it probably was not a Windows 7 problem.
I called Motorola and complained and they suggested I return it for a new one. The Motorola person told me some of the modems were sketchy and people were having problems wirelessly reconnecting after their computers had gone to sleep. Best Buy replaced the model without any questions. The guy at the return counter told me that they had seen a lot of these items returned.
I hooked the new modem up and contacted Motorola, explained the whole problem and had the guy walked me through the setup. It worked great the rest of Saturday. It worked great all day Sunday while I watched football and tracked all my fantasy football stuff on line and my wife watched netflix. Everything started up just fine on both machines on Monday morning. Hopefully, I have a good modem and my problems are solved.
Based upon my experience, what I have read in the other reviews and my discussions with Motorola and Best buy employees, it appears that Motorola failed in one of the following areas: Testing, Management Decision Making or Manufacturing.
It is obvious that there is some sort of problem with many of these modems and the Motorola help desk is not up to speed on how to deal with these problems. All in all, I had three different Motorola people walk me through the setup and all three set it up a little differently.
I went into Best buy simply to replace my current Linksys wireless router and bought the much more expensive modem partly based upon the Motorola name. Owning my own modem saves me $7 a month that I do not have to pay to rent the comcast modem, so if this baby lasts two years, it pays for itself.
Unfortunately for motorola, I will not trust their name as much in the future. It is so obvious that Motorola failed to adequately test these boxes before they released them. Don't know if the problem is in their QA area, their manufacturing area or bad management, but ultimately, some manager somewhere in Motorola made some wrong decisions.
If you buy this modem there is a good probability you will have problems. Be prepared to have to return it for a different model. If I have any more problems with this modem I will return for a full refund and find a different solution that does not include a motorola product. I could not recommend this product to anyone without some cautionary warnings. Be prepared to return it and be prepared to spend some time on the phone with help desks.

Eliminates Comcast/Xfinity Equipment Rental

I just got the router/modem delivered today and I am impressed it is actually faster than the router that Xfinity had given me. It was easy to setup and all I had to do was to call Xfinity to process this new router under their services. Purchasing this product also eliminates me needing to rent their equipment for $10 a month. I don't think this one has an option for the phone services but it works just fine if you only need internet. Best buy also had this product for a wonderful price for clearance $31.99. I tried to purchase this at Walmart but they would not price match it at all. Best buy is the best place to buy as Walmart sells this for $98
