    BIG Disappointment!

DON"T BUY IT!!! We shouldn't HAVE to read or write reviews on a basic staple product like this, it should just work. Especially, from a well known and up to this point pretty well respected company (I recommend and sell Motorola everyday) in the business of communications equipment. DON"T BUY IT!!! Something like this should be PnP,unless you need advanced settings, Parental Controls and the like. DON"T BUY IT!!! This is my biggest wast of $ in years- DON"T BUY IT!!! From my experience, get your trusty BestBuy Clerk to point you over to something else! Maybe a Linksys - I've NEVER had a lick of trouble from their routers , and I've used alot of them at work, and at my family's homes. I really thought Moto would be great. Now, I'm not so sure of them.

    Suprisingly bad

I went with Motorola because my Netgear routers would quit after a couple of years. This modem/router worked fine for the first couple of months even though I found it to be slow. I relocated my cable access to the central part of my home and still found it slow and disconnecting frequently (WIFI). Later, I could only log in as guest. After rebooting numerous times and manipulating the huge selection of settings that Bill Gates would not understand, I was able to restore the administrator and guest access via wifi. Two hours after that, I'm back to the original problem of only able to log in as guest. No more Motorola for me. At least with Netgear I have two years and the problem is obvious.

Had this for less than 3 weeks

I had this product for less than 3 weeks and I'm about to go exchange it. Every other day it would shut off or restart on its own. 2 days ago it didn't work at all, I called Motorola and they told me that I probably had a faulty device and that I should try to exchange it. At one point it would only work if it was plugged in with an ethernet cable. I got this device to use the wireless feature mainly because I work from home. For some reason the device it working again but now seeing that other people have given bad review on this product, I am going to exchange it.

    Terrible wifi range!

So i bought this modem to replace my 5101 modem. Everything worked great for the first night, being that i did not test the wifi. Now that i am trying, i cant even get from the gameroom to the living room with my mac, phone, or even pc. One i get past 10 feet of the modem, i get .5 to 1 mb/s for download and less than .5 for upload. I really do plan to return this product. Sad that it doesnt work right.

    Didn't even last a day

I bought this modem to replace the Motorola SBG901 from my cable company. I called the company they rigged it work and it put a good wireless signal. It lasted only six hours before it quit working and the cable company tried to ping it and it never responded. It was worthless ! I had enough and returned it for cisco wireless router. I went back to cable company and got a regular modem. Hooked it all together and got great signal and range in my home. Do yourself a favor ? Don't waste your money on these all in one modems. They just don't work, for me anyway.

First, let me say that I work on provider networks for a living. In the interest of saving space I bought this combo device so I didn't need two separate devices. I can can safely say that this thing is almost useless. Up/Down throughput decreased dramatically and it drops connection numerous times a day. Previous standalone routers had no problems like this. Waste of money.

Can't be activated by Comcast in Boston!

As of 7/11/10 when I write this review, Comcast in Boston cannot activate this modem. Although it is on their approved list of devices, it is not yet in their BILLING SYSTEM, so it can't be tied to an account. Doesn't matter that there is no billing for a customer-owned modem. I learned this the hard way, after a 1 1/2 hour call with Comcast. They have "put in a ticket" to get the modem added to the billing system, and will "email me" when it is complete. I give them a week, and then back this thing goes. Fair warning to all thinking of buying this modem. Doesn't matter how wonderful it is, it''s brand new, so make sure your cable operator has fully enabled it in your area.

    Comcast support / lemon

Comcast couldn't help me with this modem. I had to work with the folks at Motorola. They were helpful, and we got it going. But after only a couple weeks the modem started dropping the internet connection. I'd restart and it would work at 1mbps (very slow) and then die again. It would die every 10-20 mins. I decided to plug in the Comcast provided Scientific Atlanta modem and my old Linksys Wireless router and all is working perfectly. The Motorola all-in-one modem/router is not ready for primetime, and the folks at Comcast have no information about it. Also, when it was working, the wireless signal was weak. My 5 year old Linksys modem delivered a much better signal.

    Total Garbage Product

I bought TWO of these about two months apart and both of them had the same problem. They work fine for two or three days and then the wireless connection begins to reset. Over the course of a couple days, it gets worse and worse, until eventually the wireless connection is constantly resetting. I'm taking the second one back to the store today. STAY AWAY. Junk!

After using for about a week, the wireless router is worthless! It loses the connection every day while watching Netflix and all you to can do is go unplug the modem and hope it works again long enough to finsh the movie.

    Didn't WORK!!

Unfortunately, I was one of the 50% that this modem and router doesn't work for. I bought this as an upgrade to my Motorola SB 2.0 and linksys router. It consistently dropped the wireless signal and would have to reboot the modem to get the devices to pick up the signal. After two days and dozens of reboots, I reverted back to my old set up and returned to store.

    Worked for the first month.

(Review based on a 125MB Down/15MB Up connection) This modem/router combination boasts some attractive specs, but after the first month I have had nothing but dropped connections and tons of packet loss. The WiFi performance was horrible from the start; I couldn't even stream non-HD videos on youtube without it cutting in and out, and I was only about 15 feet from the router! At a month in, I can no longer play online games or stream videos even with a wired connection. I should've done a little more research before picking this router up. I highly recommend picking a different brand.

This piece of junk kicks you off the internet, stops streaming movies and has a very poor range in a very small house. I even tried a WiFi range extender but that doesn't help much. I has a 1 year parts and labor warranty. So should I send it back and wait three or four weeks for them to fiddle around with it while I have no internet or TV? Google it and you will complaints about this intermittent signal problem. I wish I had done it before I bought it.

I'm surprised that t motorola router would be this terrible with the wireless connection. I have to keep unplugging and plugging the router so it can work. The wired connection works excellent.

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

I read the reviews and since there aren't many options in the market for a wireless cable modem I wanted to try this anyway. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Well, the first week it was perfect, the wireless signal was 97% throughout the house. Yesterday I had to reset the modem since the internet was down, wired or wireless. During the day I played PS3 and the connection dropped every 30 minutes. Today the same happened, no internet at all. I had to reset the modem again and then the PS3 signed out every 5 minutes. This thing is going back to BB today.

When I first bought this it worked great but after 6 months it went very far downhill. Started out with uncorrectable errors my old modem never did this. then went to time sync resetting every day then every few hours. The speeds went from my normal down to 2MPS on cable after reboot it works fine for a day or 2. Gaming went from open NAT too moderate and closed even after port forwarding. Old Motorola surfboards was great new brand is trash pass on all them.

Bad connection! Very inconstant 95% on the Time

This has to be the worst investment I've made. I have 50mb/s connection and I get under one MB/s over wifi or just doesn't work at all. I have it hard wired with my Xbox and I can't get HD. Even hardwire is inconsistent I wish I could post a video of how bad this is. Called comcast 3 times to come fix my Internet while my stupid modem is bad. Cost $35 per vist from comcast. Save yourself a headache and not buy any motorolla product for comcast. Comcast rep said most of moto product has issue with their Internet.

Cable guy tried, I tried, Motorola help call. Still can't log on after a week. They ship it configured for max security and I have been told it won't work with XP. Seems to me you should ship it so that it works with 99% of computers and let people increase levels of security AFTER they get it working. Most user unfriendly interface I have ever seen. I am sure that it works perfectly with some computers but I don't recomend rolling the dice if I were you. I purchased the most expensive because I didn't want problems like this.

Bought one of these and returned it. The wired connection with my cable provider was perfect, but the wifi was giving me 1-2mbps....seriously So I returned it for another thinking it was a manufacture defect or shipping box drop. Nope same results, do NOT buy this if you are using wifi
