This modem supports upto 2.5Ghz speeds. This will future proof my home network for next 10 years. The setup process is pretty straightforward. You need to contact your ISP and provide them with the modem’s MAC Address (found on modem). They’ll add the modem to your account and activate it for you. Once the modem is activated, its time to test. I recommend connecting an Ethernet cable from the modem to computer’s Ethernet. Run a speed test (speedtest.net) and make sure not only that its working but also to ensure you are getting the download speed you are paying for. In my case, I have Astound Broadband and paying for 500Mbs. When I ran a speed test, i was blown away! I’m actually consistently getting a little over 600Mbs download speed. If you ask me, thats pretty impressive! I highly recommend the Arris S34 modem as part of your home network.

Finally needed to replace my old Motorola surfboard modem which we had for many years, saving hundreds of $$$ over renting from Xfinity. But it could not deliver the speeds anymore. This new S34 I expect will keep up for many more years. I installed it in a cabinet and it was getting reaaly warm, enough to concern me. So I put some little 12v fans on top, even without venting the cabinet the modem is running cool now, no problems.

I have used it as a replacement to my Xfinity modem and it is working as expected. You need to pair it up with a router for WiFi connection. I used my old to link router along with it

The SURFboard S34 delivers fast, stable DOCSIS 3.1 performance with its 2.5 Gbps port, making it perfect for high-speed plans. Easy setup and solid build, though lacking a built-in router. Great value for future-proofing your connection.

Works great. No issues. I have used Arris modems for years including back when they were Motorola, and they've been reliable.

Performance is excellent. I replaced the provided Spectrum cable modem with this one, since I kept needing to reboot the Spectrum provided one nearly every day. I haven't had to reboot this one even once yet; response is better in everything internet related. It does run a bit hot, though, but with proper ventilation, it should be fine. The 10gbps port, in addition to a 1gbps port is a nice touch. Plus, you can see the line noise for each channel by logging into the cable modem using your web browser.

Really nice modem. Setup was easy, plug it in, hook it up, and connect it through our cable provider app. It does get a little warm when in use, but nothing abnormal. It is fast, we are on a 500 mb internet plan and our download speed on our pc was around 700 mb. It was a little pricey but hopefully it will last a long time.

I have Xfinity and our 3 year old modem was restarting to die so i purchased this for replacement. It works well. I used the Xfinity app to get connected and took about 5 minutes although you can use the surfboard connect app to do the same or press skip at the bottom. To be honest I don't think you need the surfboard connect app and it isn't very useful for this S34 modem as i plug into my Asus wifi router for everything else. After Xfinity said I was connected it rebooted the modem which took 10 minutes then I was able to use my wifi so don't panic. From opening the box to wifi was 30 minutes. I get 600mb on two devices at the same time and our area has max upload of 40mb which I am getting. It works great!

The latest from ARRIS works well. Comcast upped my speeds and the old modem wasn't cutting it. Swapping in the S34 solved those issues. Do note, these is slight but significant difference between the S33 and S34, so check your provider accordingly. There have been zero issues with the modem. I do enjoy the app for connectivity which my previous modem did not have. So far, so good

The ARRIS - SURFboard S34 modem completely resolved the intermittent internet/Wi-Fi problems I had been having for almost a year. I had replaced my old modem about 1 year ago and apparently the new modem I bought had issues as my internet and Wi-Fi would go through spurts of dropping service, sometimes 8-10 times per day. Then it would work fine for 2 weeks, before it started dropping again. The ARRIS modem completely eliminated these issues and also provides lightning fast LAN and Wi-Fi internet service. Very, very happy with this purchase!

I kind of abused my S33 a bit much in a attempt to mod it so that the case was better. So it started to fail... Got this bad boy and it has been working super stable since. I still don't like the darn shape of this things. Why can't they just go back to the normal rectangular shapes... And put more venting on the casing as this things do get hot. I have a tiny noctua fan blowing some air in there but not needed. I just happen to have it in a closet with a bunch of networking gear so it gets toasty there.

Works with Xfinity. Dont worry when doing initial setup. May take 2 - 3 tries because it timed out on the website. Otherwise its small and compact and gets the job done better than modems with less speed.

The S34 is the newer version of the already excellent S33 which is on top of most best modems lists. This was only $20.00 more than the S33 so that is the reason I bought this one. Could not be happier. Set up was incredibly simple. The enclosed quick set up guide tells you to download the Surfboard Central app to complete the set up. You do not need to do this. The app just directs you to the Xfinity website to add the modem. I used the Xfinity app and within 10 minutes I was on the internet. I was actually amazed because I had to change modems in the past and it was a nightmare to do. The immediate difference I noticed was my upload speed with my old router increased from 40 Mbps to 350 Mbps and my download went to 850 Mbps consistently. I have now upgraded my network to the TP-Link B65 - BE1100 WIFI 7 mesh router and while my upload speeds stayed the same my downloads are now over 1G. I also read may reviews that this modem runs hot. I found that this was not the case. It does get warm but if you leave it a well ventilated space you should not see any issues. If your looking to future proof you home network you should really get this one. Your probably not going to need a new one for may years.

It does what it says on the tin and I can achieve a solid 2.5G connection from Cox Internet. That is where the positives end. This is a BYOD modem for almost all providers - that means you have to support it yourself. Tech support will basically hang up on you. This wouldn't normally be a problem except... The management interface configuration is utterly attrocious and becomes unavailable once the provider sends a DHCP lease. The only way around this is with professional grade understanding of network interfaces (SNMP particularly) and a non-standard router config. That is the only reason I don't recommend this modem - the average user will get a very discouraging experience with it from their ISP. I recall this not being an issue with my previous netgear AP (which wasn't mid/high split like this unit). The management interface was available through a router without pulling my hair out. ARRIS - if you're listening, please use the standard 192.168.1.1 starting range rather than 192.168.100.1 - or even better, auto detect if the LAN port responds to DHCP and just... get an IP like a normal device.
