Here's the good, first. If you were a fan of the first Assassin's creed, and want to help bridge the gap between Altair in the Crusades and Assassin's Creed 2's new protagonist Ezio Auditore de Firenze, this will help out. It's set roughly a month after Creed 1, and lets you see how Altair has dealt with things after his climactic showdown with- well, that would be a spoiler about the first.
Bloodlines has a near-exact control scheme from Creed 1, with a slightly different camera control, what with the PSP's lack of a right stick. Combat is the same, with timing based combos and counters, sword, throwing knives, knife, and hidden blade. These were all pluses, to me at least.
Now the parts that were lacking. First of all, as a PSP game, naturally the areas of the game will be limited, due to technical specs. Bloodlines handles this by splitting their cities into walled districts. While it works, gameplay wise, you don't get the same free-roaming feel of the first and especially the second game. Also, looking over the city from it's highest tower, it's sorta silly to see 15 story walls surrounding 2 to 3 floor high buildings.
Also, the story is told very quickly. At first, I looked over the characters in the manual. It talked about a couple different characters that Altair would interact with through his journey. One dude, called Moloch the Bull, was said to be a zealot and highly involved in blah blah blah. Another was the Dark Oracle, who led the templar through visions or something. Naturally, I suspected they would have some nice story around them. Nope. Boss fights, and a short, usually inconsequential conversation. It's a shame, since they had possibility.
But even still, the game's purpose was to give us some insight into Altair after the events of Creed 1, and it succeeds. All things considered, I'd give it a 4 out of 5, with the descriptor of being a good game, but not a must have unless you're a Creed Head.

I bought this game with a PSP 3000 package and it seems to be a pretty good game.Graphics are awesome and so is free roam and fighting.Free roam is kind of a like a career mode where u follow main story but you can choose couple of other "challenges" before you finish a mission.Movement is great,u can jump, climb and fight ANYWHERE you want.Only bad thing about this game is lack of weapons and no multiplayer. And it takes a little bit of time to get used to the controls.Overall the game is really good.Go buy it!

First thing: Rent it before buying it. Yes, it's a great game, but may not appeal to all audiences. So look at some gameplay, rent and try, then buy and enjoy. Graphics are great, being consumed into a screen the size of your cell phone. Free roaming is something that makes the game as big as the real expierience. Other than the fact you can commit mass murder in seconds, there are also mini missions such as secondary assassanations and races. Bottom Line: Great game, but try it first. I got this game because the two console games were absolutely stunning. Same thoughts on this game. Only buy it before renting if you have either liked the console edition or have studied on it.
