The only issues I've had with this game is: 1) many many bugs, and 2) gathering resources for higher-level ship upgrades is more of a pain than being fun
Overall it is an awesome game and I would definitely recommend it!

Love the game. The pirate gameplay is great, naval compat and exploration is also great. Huge world to explore with tons of activities. You'll easily get over 50 hours (maybe upwards to 100) from this game. If I had to pick a weakness I'd say they have simplified the sword fighting a little too much with the slow motion which gives too much time to counter attack. Looks cool but makes it too easy. I've played every assassins creed game on consoles and wish they had kept the combat more like AC2 instead of AC3 or at least to have the option to turn the slowmo off. Still great game, lots of fun with tons to do.

well this was a good assassins creed game. i didnt love it but i didnt hate it. better then revelations easily but i enjoyed part 3 more. there didnt see to be too many different weapons but he has 4 single shot pistols. i dont care much for the whole pirates deal. but best buy was selling it for 13 bucks new so i couldnt pass that up

Story is compelling and the swashbuckling is a must play. When your crew sings its as if you lived back then. Its great even if you are just watching someone play.

This is a really good addition to the Assasin's Creed series. Improved graphics and storyline. The glitches evident in the other three are not evident here.

Great game from a great series. Great story, graphics. With plenty to do. A game that you can play for days, weeks, months...rather than just a few hours.

Not really appropriate for non-adults, though I'm sure older teens would balk at that statement. I experienced a glitch (skip) in the game during one of the missions, but read somewhere that it fixes itself by the end.

I bought this game for my brother's 21st birthday. He LOVED it! The story line is well done, and the graphics are so clear and detailed that it looks like a movie. My brother even mentioned the authenticity of the historical aspects, such as the song sung by the sailors throughout the game. He spent hours playing and had a blast, and went back to play more even after he finished the story portion of the game.

I didn't buy this game when it first came out because they started to make the games shorter so you would have to buy them more often. I bought it now because it went down to 9.99. Great game for that price.

Assassin's Creed: Pirate Edition

Despite the IV in the title, there have been at least six previous entries in the Assassin's Creed series. Some have been better than others. The previous entry, Assassin's Creed 3, was not well-liked by the community in the long-run and many wondered if the franchise had run out of steam. I am happy to report that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a return to form for the series. True, the gameplay is essentially the same as AC3, but the pirate characters, storyline, and tropical setting make all the difference. Recommended if you are not burnt out on the formula.

Assassins Creed Black Flag is a great game all around. It has awesome graphics and great gameplay elements. If you liked any of the other games in the series definitely get this one, it's probably my favorite!! The pirate aspect of the game is a great change of pace from the other games, and it's just cool to drive the pirate ships. If you're considering getting this and you're questioning the decision, get it and you won't regret it!!

Excellent addition to the AC universe. Continues the story with a novel approach…you are working for Abstergo Entertainment!
However, the controls are still slippery and imprecise. For example, I would often line up a jump only to watch Edward vault off in the wrong direction. Still reduced to occasional "button mashing" for fights, despite my attempts at precision blocking/parrying.
Much improved naval adventures compared with AC3. I enjoyed sailing around the Caribbean and pirating/pillaging. Great way to earn money and supplies.
However, I did not enjoy much of the underwater scenes (albeit, a small portion of the overall game). Swimming controls were AWFUL (imprecise, awkward and just plain BAD) and the number of sharks, eels, urchins and jellyfish bordered on ridiculous. Note to developers: no jellyfish is actually poisonous on the top of their dome-like "head"….so why did I keep getting stung?
The "real world" adventures of wandering around Abstergo are mostly enjoyable and advance the overall storyline very well. However, there is one major drawback: computer hacking. Most of it involves a new spherical puzzle that is challenging yet fun, but there is another mini game that can best be described as a bastardized version of "Frogger". The problem with the Frogger mini game is simply that--as games go--Frogger is quite awful and has nothing to do with "hacking" a computer.
Hopefully the developers of AC5 (or AC4a) take this into account and improve the control scheme, jettison the Frogger and either improve or eliminate the underwater experience.
Worth your money or a long rental on Gamefly.
