Come on, they’re Astros. Quality, comfortability, build quality, they’re all up there. No matter the reviews, no matter the competition, you’re not going to find an all-in-one, pre-equalized, high quality headset at this price point. I’ve owned and still own headsets of a variety of standpoints, such as studio grade headsets to other gaming headsets. I bounce around each of them as upgrades come out, but there’s one I simply keep coming back to, and it’s Astro for my gaming. If you have a pair of A50s and wondering if you should get A40s, you only need to consider free range of wireless vs wired, but aside from that, they are identical in comfort, audios and quality. The MixAmp on this thing is also so much more friendly than an A50. If you’re a console user, A50, and if it’s for desktop, get A40s. As for customer service, you know, I’ve never been treated poorly. They’re quick at responding, and they really are thorough before letting you go to make sure everything works. This is my 4th pair, but only because the last 3 were upwards of like 5-6 years old and still working phenomenally. Just thought I would have more use of the A40 with my new gaming PC. Again, they’re amazing, you won’t go wrong whatsoever by purchasing these. Astro should be sponsoring me with how much I enjoy all my headsets. P.S. That new Blue Ice mic that you can buy separately? Don’t bother, it’s the same quality as the A40s mic. Pretty sure it was mostly for the Logitech headset since the Logitech mic is pretty garbage. So yea, don’t get Blue with Astro, do get Blue if you choose Logitech, at which point, you may as well spend the extra $20-50 for the Astros instead

One of the best headsets I’ve used. Stays comfortable after multiple hours of use. The sound quality is pretty good and there’re lots of options for different listening experiences. The price is a little up there but for years of use, its worth it. This is actually the second pair I’ve purchased. First one went to my brother, still running strong.

I've used knock off Amazon headsets, Turtle Beach, Razer, Steel Series and these Astros. The Astros definitely have the best sound out of all of them. Probably the best microphone as well. Im soft/deep spoken and everyone can hear me. The ease of adjusting your volumes on the mixamp is a dream come true. I'm constantly adjusting party chat/game volume mixer because some friends are louder than others and its just so easy with this setup. I just had the Steel Series Arctis 9x before these and I will say they were more comfortable and had a better fit with easy volume adjustments as well. But, they would disconnect sometimes from the xbox. With these that will never happen since they are wired. If you sit on a couch with some distance between you and the console/tv these may not be the best setup for you because you'll have two cables headed to the back of the xbox and than the auxillary from the mixamp to the headset. Cables are 6ft at most.. But if you are at a desk my vote is for this headset. PLEASE READ THIS NEXT PART: You may have trouble getting the microphone to work. You'll notice the headset is NOT assigning to your xbox profile, thus, no microphone detected. Turn your xbox ON and flip the mixamp switch on the back FROM XBOX to PC and BACK TO XBOX. It SHOULD now assign and be ready to go. This was a major frustration to figure out when I first purchased but all good now.

Absolutely love this headset, my only regret is not going with the A50's as they would've worked better with our VR headset. The sound on these is great, specially with the mix-amp and Dolby Atmos. My set came with a free 2 year trial for it, don't know if that's the case for every set. The comfort level this headset achieves is nuts, hands down the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. I can wear this set for hours (I think I pulled a 7hr session) and feel absolutely no fatigue at all, no soreness from excessive pressure or anything. The sound is phenomenal to me, I can definitely hear a difference in the audio when I switch between optical and aux. The sound just seems much cleaner, the surround sound was where this set really shined for me. In game it sounds unreal, the bass from explosions is there, foot steps are very audible and clear which direction they're coming from. The amount of options I have as far as controlling my sound is nice, there is the Astro app for your EQ and mic settings, the main volume dial and chat mixer right on the mix-amp which is very nice for quickly fine tuning your audio mix depending on your needs. In the end I'm glad I traded my virtuoso's in for this set. Also, just know the protection plan for this headset is much more expensive than I thought it would be, it was only $40 (I think) for the $179 virtuoso's but is $100 for the $250 A40's. It's definitely worth it just because of the coverage it provides for 2 full years but I was not expecting the high price tag.

Very Good Quality, Astro makes the best headphones out there and also has the most comfortable headset’s out there. Tried Razer and Turtle Beach before and would get headedaches or ear soar from the tight that they are. It’s my second pair. First pair lasting me 6 years, would highly recommend this brand

I owned a pair and then switched to the A50’s but ended up buying these back because i really enjoyed using these and the sound quality is great the bass is extremely loud i use them all the time and they are extremely comfortable the one bad thing about the headset is that the chords are kind of annoying to deal with I sometimes end up running it over but overall a great pair of headsets for gaming. The one thing you will need to deal with is the software because you need it to update so you can play on the console and since I already owned a pair the software wouldn’t let me update them so i spent like an hour or two trying to fix it but i gave up and ended up using a laptop and it worked.

I’m already familiar with Astros because I have the wireless A50s. That being said, I was already used to and happy with the comfort of the A40s. I won’t buy another brand because they last long, extremely comfortable, and the sound quality is unbeatable. You can pinpoint exactly where someone is when playing first person shooter. If you are a serious gamer or want to play competitive, get them if you have the money. However, I did have one problem with Astro. If you have the original Xbox one or the one S like I do, you have to have an additional 3.5 mm aux cord that is not included. This information is also not included in the setup guide. I found this out from a YouTube video and couldn’t use the headset for almost a whole day after I purchased it. It’s not a big deal but would be beneficial to know. Overall, this is my favorite brand headset and completely worth the money.

The A40 replaced my 4 year old Stealth 700's which died. I use these mostly on my pc for gaming, chatting on discord, late night movie watching and music. They sound freaking sweet after setting and saving different sound profiles for gaming, movies and music. I freaking love this headset. I can wear them for hours and my skull is comfy and not feeling weighed down. The seperate mic volume control works as it should, haven't had any issues at all. I occasionally use them with my Note 8 cell phone mostly for music and again they sound great but not loud enough for my tastes. Calls are just fine, they hear me, I hear them. Would I have liked the wireless version better? The Mixamp is within arms reach so I'm fine being wired. My only complaint is that for the price they should have included better cables than the cheap looking rubber(?) covered ones, I found some nice braided ones for both the usb and headset cables on Amazon. Over all I am extremely happy with my A40's, I gave them a 4 star rating, I'd go 4.5 if I could knocking just 1/2 star for the cheapy cables.

This headset is nice! It can be a bit funky sometimes if you use it on PC. The software isn’t bad, but it could be better. On Xbox though, this thing is easy to get to going! Quality feels nice and sound is even better.

This headset has treated me amazingly. Sound is great, I come through clear as day to friends and the ability to quickly change the volume, presets for the EQ and change volume preference to “Voice” or “Game” makes things easy. The only downside I have is if you turn the Xbox off for the night and then hop on the next morning you’ll have to unplug the Amp and plug it back in so it “Assigns” the headset back to the Xbox. With needing to have the amp close by to regulate volume it’s not a big deal but definitely gets tedious. As well as set up wasn’t a complete breeze. Had to install and update via my computer. If you don’t have a computer nearby I would NOT recommend these. Sometimes the only way to get moving and connected is via the update depending on how long your unit was out on the shelf. Don’t let that worry you though as in the end these have and still continue to be amazing. I play Halo, COD, Avengers and various smaller titles.

After much deliberation I purchased these in the begging of July. I watched countless videos and reviews who RAVED about these. So I bit the bullet and paid $250 for the headset and amp. Well, upon receiving them in the awesome box they come on I excitedly hooked them up to try them out. Immediately jumped in a party with my friends on xbox and “no microphone found” I was mad. I sold my turtle beach tac pro for this very reason. I did not want to connect a cord to the headset (which I knew going in) and a cord to the controller (I did not know this) to get party chat. I did more digging to find out a way around this unfortunate occurrence given the expense these are. Turns out all you have to do is power on your xbox and unplug the usb from the amp to the Xbox and plug it back in. You MUST do this every time you power on the Xbox. That is absurd for a unit that costs as much as this does. I returned them for the A50 which is seamless as can be. They are ridiculously expensive. It’s hard to say they are worth $300 but they are definitely the best ones I have ever used

The astro a40 tr with mixamp was very frustrating to setup and to get it to work properly with xbox series x was a nightmare. Wasted 8 hours of my time, Finally got it to work but however after gaming for just a few hours, After I took the headset off my right ear was bright red, irritated to the point that my right ear lobe actually split slightly and I noticed a little blood. Mind you my ears were perfectly fine before using this headset. So I must have been allergic to something from the headset possibly the material used in the ear cups , I wanted to love these but unfortunately I had to return them because of the pain they caused to my ears. I pcked up the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless which have plush leather for the ear cups & those don’t irritate my ears & honestly they sound really good, Better sound than the astro a40’s imo. Yes the steelseries nova pro wireless are more expensive but worth the money and no more ear pain or irritation. I hope this helps someone if you have had any issues like I have with the astro’s & irritation.

Bought them to replace an older RIG 800 set I've had forever. These are really great. High-quality sound and bass response. The amp works well and being able to change EQ presets is nice. Keep in mind, if you're using this with the XBOX Series X, you'll need to link the amp to a PC or Mac and update the firmware to the newest version for USB audio to function. It's also great being able to use the headphones across multiple devices/outputs. Would definitely recommend!

The Astro A40 headphones offer excellent sound quality and comfort, making them ideal for long gaming sessions. The customizable speaker tags and solid build add to their appeal. While the mixamp enhances audio control, the wired design might not suit everyone. Overall, they’re a top choice for serious gamers.

Best headset ive ever used, but you NEED to follow a guide on the troubleshooting reddit to get the proper driver updates as automatic driver search doesnt work you need the older command center which i believe someone mention on the subreddit, and you NEED to download the astro a40 mixamp firmware file from the subreddit its simple enough if you aren't bad with tech and computers, if you aren't good with computers and files etc i would try to find something without the rigorous firmware update, overall 10/10 headset is amazing with dolby access custom EQ's its wild i have 3 different settings for different game scenarios

I upgraded to this from a turtle beach stealth 300. The overall quality is way better than the TB. Here’s my biggest complaint: the input for the headphones is pointed down towards the left shoulder, so with the cable plugged in, it’s always rubbing my shoulder and getting in the way. Surely there is a better design for that! Other than that, I love them. They are comfortable, I never have problems with people not hearing me. The cables that go to the mix amp do get a little annoying, but I move around a lot. If you had a way to put the mix amp somewhere you didn’t need to move it, then it would be a non-issue. The mix amp lets you balance the game and party chat, and has limited equalizer effects (which I don’t really use much). I have no problems localizing directional sound with these. No regret getting these, I would do it again.

Best headset I've ever owned the bad reviews for this headset can all be solved by turning the mix amp on after the console is turned on and the microphone is great quality just use the astro command center and go to mic settings and set it to streaming.
