Purchased this for travel, it's so small and lightweight. It has all the features that made it the best selection for the price. Fits right in the notebook section of a small carry on backpack. Doing research the only negative was the on/off button was close to the other keys. Didn't find this to be a problem at all. ASUS has always had a good reputation, especially with their motherboards. Good, especially for the price.

I wanted a basic laptop to play the original Half-Life series on. I can't afford a high end laptop... this one was perfect. It's fast and does exactly what I need.
If you are looking for a hardcore laptop look elsewhere as this will not be good for you. I'm playing 20 year old games on this and it's great. You do have to update it and disable S mode in order to download anything you want, but it's pretty quick. As an upside this laptop has a micro SD slot that allows you to expand the memory. Fantastic deal.

I bought this notebook computer primarily to use for giving PowerPoint presentations using a projector and for taking notes at meetings. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. The computer is lightweight, has a decent keyboard, and is able to run Microsoft Office with no trouble. One thing I was not expecting is how well Windows 10 now integrates with your cell phone. Upon installation I was prompted to install Microsoft Launcher on my Android phone. I was initially hesitant to do this, but Microsoft Launcher is actually pretty good and has some clever features, and it greatly improves the integration between the phone and the Windows desktop computers I use (one at work, two at home, plus the new notebook).
On the less good side, when I first got the notebook I repeatedly got blue screens of death, and the computer kept restarting. I originally figured that the notebook was defective, but after about the fifth time the problem went away, so I strongly suspect that a buggy device driver was updated. Device driver issues like this really shouldn't happen with a brand new computer, but hopefully Asus and Microsoft will work this out.
The other slightly annoying thing was that I was unable to activate the version of Microsoft Office installed on the computer using the account created by my employer (my employer has an arrangement with Microsoft that allows employees to install Office on personal computers). Instead I had to take the operating system out of 'S Mode' (very easy - just do a search in Microsoft Store), uninstall the copy of Office that came with the computer, and reinstall the version available through Office.com. While I realize that this is nothing Asus has any control over, it was a big time waster and is something that Microsoft should really address. At the very least they should allow you to download and install the correct version of Office without taking the computer out of S mode.

Better than a tablet and not much larger

As indicated in the title, I purchased this to replace a really poorly performing Amazon Fire HD tablet.
While this is a much better alternative than a tablet and has Windows instead of Amazon's abysmal "Fire" OS, it is not without its own drawbacks.
Understandably, since this is running Windows in "S" mode due to the fact that the built in solid state drive is only 32GB, it lacks some of the features and compatibility of a laptop running a hard drive with a larger storage capacity.
This can be improved somewhat by adding a microSDXC card of at least 400GB, but that can easily add another $100 onto the price of this laptop.
In addition, there are issues when trying to add non-microsoft software. To add non-MS software, one has to follow a convoluted set of instructions to make Windows run outside of "S" mode.
Because of this latter problem created by Microsoft, I can only give this laptop a 4-star rating,

I was looking for a small simple Windows laptop to run a few programs. This did the trick. Fast boot up, long battery life. My only wish would be for more storage. Would be nice to find a way to install a larger HD. This laptop does the trick for what I needed and the price was great!

I really like this Windows 10 PC for what it is and the cost. It is a great 2nd machine that is nice and small, great battery life and quick enough for basic use. It comes with a year of Office 365 that includes 1 TB of cloud storage. When you consider the value of Windows 10 and Office 365, it's like paying for those and getting the PC for almost free. I got this as a second PC, but really could use this as my primary for what I use it for. Watch for it to be on sale. In the time since I bought it, it has been on sale as often as not. I looked to see if I could find a better value than this, and found nothing close.

Purchased this basically to hold music for my band rehearsals and band related info/business which is it more than capable of doing. But I didn't research as well as I should have. I missed that it is only Wifi which I don't have at my house so can't do any downloading or updating. Not a big deal since I just DL to a thumb drive on my regular computer and work from that. But still need to do upgrades so will get a router eventually. Other than that it works great. Painful to think back to my first computer in 1996 cost over $2500 and had only a 5 GB hard drive @ 200 MHz. In today's money that is over $4000. This one cost $149 and my 128 GB thumb drive only cost $20. I'd give it 5 stars because it exceeds it's price and category point but such a bare bones model can't really qualify for a 5 star rating regardless. But if you just need a basic laptop you can't go wrong here. And it could conceivably fit into the pocket of a big coat.

I love ASUS products. We needed a light computer to travel with and to be able to do online activities, as well as basic Office functions. With Windows 10 OS I was able to use any MS software or apps. I was interested in seeing what the speed of the 32GB eMMC hard drive would be and it was superb.
Great light laptop, fast. Remember not for heavy application installs.

The device has only one really big downside, and that's Windows 10. Well, Windows10 and the difficulty of installing a different OS onto the device without a disc drive. I enjoy most of the laptop's other features like the keyboard and the portability. It almost fits in my pocket, so I obviously need to get larger pants.
If anyone has advice on where I can buy pants, let me know.

I picked this up for traveling. I didn’t want a tablet, but sometimes need to check email or complete work assignments on the road. This hasn’t disappointed. It takes getting used to such a small keyboard, but so far does everything I need it to without any issues.

Needed a laptop for bills only and this one is much quicker than old compaq laptop we had. The Asus is much quicker and definitely not as frustrating as old laptop we have, got this one on sale and with extra $5.00 off coupon, I couldn’t have asked for a better deal. Best Buy is always running specials and when you catch things on sale they can’t be beat.

This was a gift for my 12yr old daughter & its prefect for her. Its super light weight which is great, but the screen size is small to (11.6). Easily weighs less than most of her books. Easy to get her on-line& her Office products working . No touch screen, but she never really used this anyhow. If you want something for general use (not for gaming or higher level computing) & don't want to make the sacrifices of a chrome book this is a GREAT DEAL ! ASUS is a fav of mine personally (last 3 laptops purchased have been excellent). My only concern is that it is so small she may crack it by throwing it into her back pack with heavy books, so am in search of the perfect case.

I love this laptop! light weight & goes with me & it does everything my desktop does so I never have to worry or compromise the task I am doing. The price was better than expected! 2 major differences between my desktop & this laptop - I may not have a printer hooked up to it but it goes with me when i leave the house! Well worth it!

Fast, just not enough memory. Very good for basic functions, internet surfing. Even without downloading a lot of programs, it's probably best to also get an external hard drive for when trying to do updates due to low RAM.

I bought this as a cheap alternative for travel, when I realized that my expensive laptop was getting destroyed from too much knocking around on trips. It took some tweaking, but this tiny laptop does everything I need for work on the road. And it weighs next to nothing! It's also super fast.

I was a little hesitant to purchase at first based on some of the reviews, but once everything was all set up, it's working well for the light usage I need it for. It was really easy to switch out of Windows 10S mode and it's incredibly compact. I haven't had it for too long, so I will update this review if anything changes.
