This is by no means Best Buy's fault. Rather I'd coin this as a very unfortunate technology experience. This was the first computer I bought with my own funds. I had just entered the industry and was looking for a laptop to fit all of my needs. This had it: lightweight, fast processor and a company I trusted... or so I thought. So after about 9 months of usage I began experiencing an issue with video playback while using the browser Chrome. I switched to Edge and it worked fine so I went on as I could. But of course some of the site I access were not compatible with edge so I ended up needing to use two browsers. Tedious given how 'good' this computer was supposed to be. I took my computer in to Geek Squad within my warranty to have the problem resolved. It was but then after another bit of time of use I began to deal with far worse problems. Browsers crashing, screen going black, running out of memory with minimal tabs open, the whole computer was a mess. I took it back to geeks and they performed another diagnosis and waived the cost. Unfortunately, this led to the unfortunate news that i had a potentially defective motherboard. After just one year of usage of a nearly $1000 computer, the most important piece of hardware was corrupted. And of course, I am now beyond my warranty. After several trials and errors dealing with ASUS it resulted in me having it diagnosed by them, even though I explained that I already had it diagnosed and they still charged me $60 to tell me what I already knew. This resulted in a bill of over $600 to fix the computer to which I argued on end that a product of this caliber should last longer and because I was just barely outside of warranty that they knock the cost way down or waive it completely. They only would take off as much as 35% and to that I said no and send it back. It has been a tumultuous year and one I will not be spending with an ASUS product ever again. I now have to buy a replacement laptop just one year after buying this one and it most certainly will not be from ASUS. It is with great displeasure that I have to write this. It is very unfortunate that I got dragged through the mud as I did. I hope that all of you reading this turn your attention towards a different brand when purchasing your laptop.

Do not use an external monitor

If you use an external monitor the laptop monitor will stopped working properly. You will have to hold down the power button sometimes several times before it starts working. I tried uninstalling drivers updating to the newer version of Windows 10 and everything else suggested on the internet and nothing works. The function f 8 does not work properly

If the issue persist after the installing the Graphic card driver please complete back up your device and complete a factory data reset or a system refresh. Here are the steps > Navigate to Settings, you can get there by clicking the gear icon on the Start menu > Select "Update & security" > Click Recovery in the left pane > Under 'Reset this PC' select Get started > Select keep my files, (To complete a system refresh) >>Or >> Select remove everything, (To complete a Factory data reset). First time trying this Brand, not good

I purchased this brand of laptop because a classmate raved about it in class. I purchased it online and had it for about 5 days when it started to reboot while I was surfing the net and working on a word doc. I am glad that I had auto save on so that I didn't lose my work. I took it back to the store and got a refund. Looking at other options now. I have read about some Asus that have this problem and I guess I got one of them that is experiencing the problems of rebooting. It tried to repair itself but it kept shutting down before it could do it. I don't know if I just got a bad one but I really wanted to try the Asus as my friend only had great things to say about it and it's a great price. I might try another one Asus, this is why I always get the insurance for hardware/software issues.

      Dear DMartin,

I certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Try to resolve the issue by doing a power cycle a couple of times. Once it booted up successfully, please install cumulative WINDOWS Update, do not use or run any application or software while updates are being installed. If the problem persisted, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

      Regards,

      Rodel
