It seems ASUS heard the people in relation of heating between the Old ROG Strix laptops and the new ones with RTX 2070. The fans clearly do their job when several apps or heavy gaming is ongoing and that is good, making the computer to be in acceptable temperatures. RTX 2070 card is great with the Turing Technology and with 8GB of video, 6 cores, 16 Ram is great. A disadvantage here is the hard drive, which is extremely fast is just 512Gb, so you can get a SSD or an SSHD (as I did with 2TB) The Keyboard is 3 zones RGB which gives a nice touch to the machine. The computer's logo in the lid changes color as well. Also a new addition is a front light which also changes color. Regarding performance, if you are going to use it for just Office purposes it is great but I must say it is a waste of resources. So recommendation, this is for medium to hardcore gamers so you can play great games in a great machine. The only con so far I am finding in this laptop is the Webcam. It is a 720p cam, but the place it is located it is at the bottom right of the screen, not at the normal top center, so the lid needs to be adjusted for proper viewing. Do I recommend this computer? Yes, it is pretty nice. I give it 4.5 Stars! Some other nice aspects to consider: 1) It is 144 Hz with just 3ms delay 2) It is lightweight. 3) Keyboard and touchpad feels good. 4) It is VR ready Take care everyone! :)

After having numerous friends recommend Asus to me, I found that this would be the best fit - and its aesthetics are amazing, to boot. So far I haven't done too much gaming with it yet, but what I have played has run smoothly with amazing quality. Sound quality is also great, for games, music, and video alike. The fan does kick up a little noisily from time to time, but only when the computer is doing some heavy lifting. Additionally, there's little to no lag in numerous art programs (Clip Studio, Corel, and Photoshop) that I run on the regular, and what little there is more comes from having too many files open for too long in the programs themselves. While there are reports of screen issues here in the reviews, I haven't noticed any color fade or black spots in mine - which would make doing any kind of art impossible, nevermind gaming. There are two things that bother me and keep me from giving it a full 5 star: one, the keys are extremely sensitive, and I find myself having to check frequently to make sure there aren't doubled or even tripled up letters in what I've typed, which becomes a problem in game and art programs as well; two, the placement of the webcam is absurd for a laptop meant for gamers in a day and age where people record themselves for streams and series relating to gaming. It's the least flattering angle anyone could ask for, and the only real solution is to elevate the laptop. (Which, why would you do that? It makes it impossible to type or properly see your screen.) Video calls are a nightmare of me trying to find the best position to put myself and the computer in so that I can see everything without cutting myself out of the video or getting a cramp in my wrist from the angle of the laptop.

This Laptop packs a punch for its size. I wanted to get a system that was portable for my games while being easy enough to travel with. With that said, an additional 16gb will work nicely as its dual channel so 2 DDR4's will make the world of difference. The 2070 I decided to go with was for both performance and hoping for a longer battery life. Battery life is short as expected, but at least I can travel. I did upgrade to a 1tb nvme samsung pro and added a 2tb sshd(currently looking to upgrade it to a 4tb ssd). It works best plugged in of course. There are only 3 cons I see in this: 1.) is the lack of thunderbolt 3. I have a GL502-VS and I feel like Asus took a step back in removing this. 2.) Webcam. Because it has only a 720p camera, windows hello facial recognition doesnt work and the placement of the webcam is a little weird specially when conducting office meetings. 3.) And lastly, a second m.2 slot wuld have been nice. Considering Alienwares equivalent has 2 m.2 slots. They could have fit another one. Or even better, on the Asus G750JH, they had this weird cable ribbon adapter that connected 2x m.2 hard drives. With this, they actually could have 3x m.2 slots. I'll try and upload a photo when I get back home at the end of the month of the adapter. Maybe Asus can take a few steps back towards the future. I do understand that this is a Gaming Laptop, but with the world of gamers (and alot of most serious gamers do stream), I think a better webcam placement and quality would be in order specially for the price. Otherwise, its been solid.

I saw this laptop and its 15" model and I was so happy. A full RTX 2070! Not a Max-Q. I told myself, this is the one. To make a very long story short, and I mean obsessively long, lets just say I tried the 17, the 15, the 17, the 15 and then I tried them again for good measure. I am familiar with IPS screen bleed; every monitor, display, heck even the 3DS has it. This is not your normal screen bleed. This is so bad that more than half the screen is brown even when you are playing games. And, if you want to tell yourself that it’s panel pressure, that’s great, but there is no way to "relieve" the panel pressure in this one. It’s a great laptop if you are going to use an external monitor, but then again, why would you use a laptop for that?

Got this for multiple reasons one of which was work related its super responsive and works great for what i need upgrading it was a breeze an im 1000% happy with this pc

This is a great laptop for gamers. It has a 15.6" bezelless FHD screen for portability and a full-blown GeForce RTX 2070 to handle even the most demanding games. Intel Core i7 along with 16Gb of RAM offer smooth performance in all day to day tasks. Quality Asus build makes sure the laptop will serve you for quite some time. And RGB keyboard is a cherry on top an already solid offering.

great graphics, light weight. I love it. Very easy to use.

So long stories short this laptop is great in terms of performance and benchmarks. But the screen bleed is so serious that I have to return it in the end. It happens from all FOUR corners of screen and you can feel it even when gaming. Please note: I am never a person picky on screen, and feel very happy with my previous ASUS ROG laptop 3 years ago. Also if you pay close attention, coil whine can also be a problem in the mid of night.

I got Asus Rog Strix II during recent Best Buy sale. I was happy initially as this is the first time I got a RTX-equipped gaming laptop. The laptop was very fast, and the graphics performance are as advertised. However I started to notice significant high-pitched buzzing/scratchy noise that I later found out was called “coil whine.” This was more noticeable in a quiet room especially when the CPU is under load. It was also more pronounced when plugged in and in balance/turbo mode (though the noise tend to be drowned out in the turbo mode). Many users have reported similar issue with the Strix Scar II laptops (go to YouTube and search Asus Rog Strix scar II cool whine and you will see a few videos describing similar issue). I have also read story of how some user had to return the same laptop model to other store three times before getting the one without the coil whine. Given how costly this laptop was, I was hoping not to have an issue like this, since I never had this issue with my previous laptops from Dell/HP. After reviewing other online user’s experience, I decided to return this laptop to the store before my 15-day return period was up. Somewhat disappointed.

Everything is awesome. The graphics are good. I read that a lot of people noted screen bleed, but I haven’t had any.

I feel happy because my new computer is better than I thought and the other products are of high quality.

Buy it now while the Anthem & Battlefield V promotion is on. And Anthem is the game you don't want to miss. Loaded Anthem today and its mind blowing with Ray tracing on. This ROG laptop squeezed constant 60+FPS with Ray traced enabled with full details. The visuals of the game produce HD movie quality. This is a great value gaming gear with full performance power of RTX2070. Be aware that many products in the market like the MSI GS65 or Razer Blade only comes with MaxQ performance. Meaning - you don't get the full performance for your bucks. Think wisely. The ROG logo, keyboard and lighting bar are really cool & the screen quality is awesome for IPS panel, Honestly for those who post pictures in the complete dark room with IPS display and call it a light bleed needs to learn the benefit of the display being more vivid more color and wider viewing angle than those with none IPS display. This laptop runs cool around the palm and keyboard area, but warm around the vending area, the chassis is very very solid build, and the carbon like finish is a nice smooth touch up than just a thin metal. I was toggling between razer. GS65 and this, the build quality of ROG and Razer was the best in comparison to the fragile GS65. Razer had a high price tag with MaxQ performance. The keyboard is very comfortable and responsive for work stuff, and one tiny thing i really appreciate is the click button on touch pad, Not only the touch pad is smooth the mechanical buttons are just much better click touch pad. Overall - great laptop with all the latest technology, solid build quality and cool lighting. Anthem with ray tracing is something not to miss.

The Laptop is set with an RTX 2070 that steamrolls most games, there is a bit of screen bleed though. It is also good to get another stick of ram to enable dual channel which increases your FPS. Anyways this laptop is good if you want to game your heart out!

Received my new Asus laptop about 2 weeks ago, and so far it is a beast. I use the laptop for a decent amount of graphic design at work, and gaming outside of the office. It runs all of my editing software without any struggle or lag, unlike my older laptop. I am also able to run a few different video games with the average frame rate around 100 fps, which I am more than happy with from a stock laptop.

Love this thing. Thermals are quite good. With a simple repaste, you can get even better results. For those yammering about the screen, most IPS panels on laptops like this have "IPS glow" at "certain angles". That being said, it's not all that bad honestly. I got this and an external monitor so I barely ever use the screen itself. I only really notice in dark scenes or dark movies. It's unfortunate but definitely useable. 144hz is a bonus too. The boot speeds are incredible. about 5-6 seconds it's fully logged in and ready to do anything. Destroys at gaming with my added 32gb of ram. I run Battlefield 5 everything on Ultra including RTX at 1440p GPU runs at 74c and the fans are super quiet on this thing.
