Okay at first i brought one that was on sale for only 200, but then i had to return it due to problems and i asked the associate about this computer seeing as it had same amount of memory but a larger hard drive and i read alot of the reviews on this verses the one i previously brought and this one had the best reviews, it wasnt the same color i liked the other one due to the color but i came home with this laptop and its amazing, worth the price, it has so much room on the hard drive its worth the extra money and it works wonderfully, never overheats , its the best laptop i have ever owned

Overall it's a fair laptop for checking email and paying bills. Tends to freeze a lot and run slow!

ASUS - The Brand I Trust

I now have three ASUS laptops--a hybrid 10 inch with touch screen, an 11.6 inch with touch screen, and this 15.6 inch. I upgraded the two smaller ones from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 without any problem. The latest one came with Windows 10, and I happen to be one who is very pleased with 10. I have purchased and set up ASUS laptops and desktops for several others, and I recommend ASUS without hesitation. Nice components and features, reliable in the short term and long term. I upgraded the 15.6 inch from 4GB memory to 12GB for $30, and it is lightning fast. With ASUS, you can spend a little or a lot of money, depending on your needs and wants in a computer. Whatever you choose, I think you will be happy. This particular ASUS laptop works very well for me, and I'm expecting a long and happy experience with it.

Great for What I Need it For

I was looking for a computer I could use that was reasonably priced, had a good processor, memory, and graphics. Although I am coming from a Mac, and I'm still getting used to everything (Mac user on a PC budget), this computer has everything I need on it. I use it for my craft software, possibly gaming in the future, normal internet usage (paying bills, watching videos, social networking, etc). I haven't experienced a lag on it (yet, but it's still new, every computer will eventually start to lag), so I can't comment on that. One downfall, is that the mouse pad drives me CRAZY. It is very sensitive, had to turn off the zoom feature; just scrolling on websites it was zooming in and out (but I'm also used to a Mac's mouse). I have a bluetooth mouse hooked up to it now and use that primarily. [BTW, on the taskbar in the bottom right hand corner, go to ASUS Smart Gesture to change mouse properties -- took a while to figure that out]. Otherwise, I'm loving it so far. Would be great for a college student (not too heavy to haul around) or just the normal, everyday user.

Very lightweight, nice display and the hard drive capacity adequate. Lack of USB ports means external hub but a 3.0 port on the board is a plus. Biggest issue I have is the memory. It sold with 4GB and I wanted to upgrade to the advertised max of 8GB. Went through 4 different chips that resulted in no boot and waiting for #5. Have been in contact with ASUS support and each of the 5 chips is according to spec, so no sure what the exact issue is - upgrading isn't rocket science.

I bought this for my niece as a high school graduation gift since she is going to be taking college courses & I knew a tablet wouldn't quite meet her needs. I did set it up before giving it to her. I thought the build was nice. Some complained about the keyboard being flimsy but I thought it was fine. It has a smooth feel to it. The track pad on the other hand was irritating & wouldn't always move when I wanted it to esp to scroll up or down. Using a mouse will easily resolve that issue. Setting it up was pretty straight forward. I did remove most of the bloatware (simply most is not needed & I don't like using trial or limited software. This is her 1st laptop & she wouldn't kno what to do with it. I thought from boot to ready to go didn't take too long. I was going to upgrade the memory or change the hard drive to a ssd. I do wish there was an indicator to show if CAPS or number keys are locked. It's definitely a good laptop for the price. Not for graphic intense programs but good for basic stuff, schoolwork, surfing & watching videos. I got an open box that was actually brand new never opened for 213, so I no complaints neither do my niece. It's a great buy.

This is a good computer overall, it has a lot of space and it runs pretty quickly. With that being said, it has a few quirks that I find to be less than desirable. First sometimes it lags, this generally happens during the start up process. There have been a few times when I've had to shut down the computer and restart it because it froze and wouldn't let me put in my password. Other times it freezes when switching between applications or is just generally slow. Most of the time, it is speedy quick though. Another thing is the number lock key, which always automatically switches off. There is no light for this key, so you never know when it decides to switch off. It can switch off suddenly and then you think your typing numbers, but you are not. Overall its a good computer for someone who is using it for school work or work. It's not the best, but you get what you pay for.

We purchased the Asus 15.6 laptop intel core i3 for my husband. It is easy to navigate and gives him little trouble (he is not a computer whiz). It has speed for the games he likes to play and is easy for him to use. The Asus has/offers many nice features. It has plenty of memory, 4 GB and 1 TB hard drive and is cheaper than some of the other brands with less bells/whistles and memory.

This was purchased as a secondary computer for the use of Windows and the components of the Office Suite. The set up was easy and the screen is nice and big. My only two complaints, if they are even complaints really, are the power button and the noisey keyboard. The power button looks like a key on the keyboard and is not separate from the other keys. the keys on the keyboard are loud when you type. I have tried to just pretend it's feature to make you feel like you are using a typewriter instead of a laptop. For the price it is a great computer...my complaints are really just superficial. If you aren't looking to drop a ton of money, this is the laptop you need.

I know there have been reviews about the trackpad being too sensitive and I agree. However, there is a feature in control panel that changes the sensitivity between a laptop and a tablet setting. Just changed it, so I haven't have enough time to evaluate the difference. It's relatively fast enough and less than 350.00. An Intel I-3 would not be my first choice, but the more expensive ones with I-5's and 7's don't have reviews as good. Windows 10 is really not much better than 8 or 8.1. Still a pain in the keyster, and if you play DVD's you have to get an aftermarket player program, where as, Windows 7 has the capability to play the discs built in media player. Seems MS is getting a bit greedier. Found a free player app, that works fine, but it's another irritation by a company that has no moral direction. I prefer ASUS, since I've bought lemons made by HP & Toshiba. ASUS has a way to go to get to the point that I would trust everything they produce, but this computer is a decent buy for the price and the features. I would have preferred a backlit keyboard, but for the price difference, it wasn't worth it. When I bought this one, I had intended to get one that was cheaper, but it was not in stock at the store. The website was incorrect in indicating that the cheaper model was in stock. Yet, this was a better unit and worth the price difference.

I purchased this laptop for less than $250.00 on sale. It came with Windows 10 and has a lot of nice features. Looks great. Very fast processor. Beautiful screen and plenty of storage for all of my apps. This machine is thin and light weight. I have never had an ASUS computer but am impressed with it so far.

I found the Intel Core i3 dual core (hyper-threaded so actually 4 logical cores) processor was handily powerful enough for the day to day tasks that most users of a $300 laptop would throw at it, as well as many other tasks such as video archival thanks in large part to it's hyperthreading and no-throttle while plugged in CPU state. RAM upgrades are impractical, as is hard-drive upgrades (to a SSD for instance) as it requires the user to peal apart the rather flimsy plastic case and basically perform an autopsy on the mainboard. Networking is 10/100 Ethernet (not gigabit, keep in mind, $300 laptop) but the WiFi i found to be the most shocking at only supporting 72 Mbps transfer speeds. For anyone on 100Mib cable or Fiber services, you will find the laptop to be your bottleneck. ASUS could have stuck a 300Mib card in there for pete's sake... Display is small and density is sparse. 720p at best. viewing angle is very poor so straight on or colors go askew. Optical drive is DVD, no Blueray (...$300...), and keyboard is not backlit which makes working in low light impossible. All in all though, for $300 it's very usable. The fact that it comes with Type-C USB was a big plus for me over the HP offering, though the HP did have a removable battery, i found its touchpad to be clunky and hard to use and ultimately swayed me to purchase the Asus.

I was quite doubtful about the speed and performance of the laptop by seeing the price but as it said that don't judge a book by its cover , you can never judge a laptop by its price. The performance is too good with excellent battery backup.

Not having read a review before, when the salesman showed me this Asus computer I knew that it wasn't an offbrand. The memory was more than sufficient for me and it performs great for my home use. What clinched it for me was the lighter weight, as I carry it with me all over.

Throw in an 8gb stick of memory (not easily done but doable) and replace the slow spinning HD with an SSD and you have a very responsive little machine capable of almost all basic tasks. Bang for the buck is good.
