Customers consistently note the excellent gaming performance, with many praising the smooth graphics and ability to run demanding games. The powerful processor and graphics card are highlighted as key strengths. However, some users mention that the fan can be noisy during intense gaming sessions. Overall, the positive feedback on gaming capabilities outweighs the concerns about fan noise.

I purchased this as a portable replacement for an aging custom i-5 gaming desktop.
Pros:
Solid laptop gaming performance, great display, comfortable and nice looking RGB keyboard, and lots of connectivity ports.
Cons:
SSD is only 512GB, 16GB memory, and very loud fan - all of these are expected and may or may not bother you.
The performance for games like Call of Duty Black Ops and Apex Legends was surprisingly smooth, especially when using the native 17.3" display.
Overall: I would recommend this to anyone looking to get an affordable gaming laptop, so long as you don't expect it to perform as fast as a desktop with similar specifications. Gaming laptops typically run 10-30% slower than desktops because of heat dissipation concerns. That said, you should see solid performance, and a good set of headphones should take care of the exhaust fan noise. Have fun and game on!!!

I purchased this laptop for my son. The speed and graphics are great. It handles all the VR graphics. It doesn’t have over heating issues, which we experienced with previous laptops.

My first gaming laptop. Had it for a month now and it just been great. The rtx 2060 keeps frame rates high on high setting for my games. It is kinda loud but I put on headphones anyways. Screen is fantastic with the 144hz refresh rate. It checked all the boxes that I wanted in a gaming laptop.

I could not be more thrilled with this purchase!! First bought an Alienware - right out of the box a problem with wifi card. Returned it, and bought this. Love it! LIGHTENING FAST! This is my third Asus product. I am not a brand loyal person but research and experience always seem to take me back to Asus!

This ASUS gaming laptop is perfect for what I had in mind - gaming and media creation.
I haven't tried to push the limits with any AAA games at max/ultra settings but the few resource-heavy games I have run get by easily on high. And MTGA runs just fine (the majority of gaming I do on this laptop).
The main reason I bought this though, is to develop games (for mid-level machines), edit videos, and make music. It has done admirably in all these areas and I highly recommend it for those things.

Pro:
+ Looks absolutely beautiful without looking too much like a gaming laptop. I won't feel embarrassed bringing this laptop to a Starbucks.
+ The top feel nice and sturdy and you can open it with just one hand.
+ 144Hz screen looks stunning, and on games like Overwatch, everything runs buttery smooth.
+ SSD is extremely quick and it is wonderful going from 3-5 minutes startup time in a HDD to about 10-15 seconds in a SSD.
+ Very easy to open the back cover and upgrade the RAM, M.2 card and secondary drive as needed.
+ RTX 2060 is just amazing. It runs my entire gaming library with no issues. (Although I do play in medium settings most of the time as I prefer function over graphics) and I'm sure this GPU with serve me well for years to come.
+ Keyboard has a nice feel and I rarely mess up typing baring one issue (See negatives). I could stare at the RGB lights for hours and it still looks like it came from the future to me.
+ Fans do a very good job in keeping the temperature down. While the keyboard still feels warm to above warm while gaming, it doesn't feel like you are going to burn your fingers. Nevertheless, I still recommend investing in a cooling fan.
+ One year warranty with accidental coverage. This is a godsend for most people who just aren't paying attention and all it takes is that one unlucky drop to ruin everything.
Neutral:
* RAM is only one stick of 16GB. This may or may not be an issue depending if you prefer dual channel.
* No secondary drive. Again may not be an issue depending on use, but considering this is a gaming laptop, you may want to invest in a 2.5" SSD to hold all your games as the 512GB that is comes with will fill up quickly. The box does provide you with the things you need to install a secondary drive which is a plus for me.
* Sound is just okay. Lacks bass in my opinion. I do recommend either using headphones or external speakers.
* Small amount of bloatware, but doesn't take long to uninstall all of it.
* Power button feels a bit too much like cheap plastic in my option and just doesn't have that click to let you know that you pushed the button down.
* Fans can get pretty loud during heavy gaming, but I consider it the price that must be paid to game on a laptop.
* Somewhat heavy, but YMMV on that. Personally I don't have a issue lugging it around town.
* Some reports on backlight bleeding. While I do see some on mine when the screen is all black, considering I don't see it 95% of the time, it doesn't bother me much.
* Battery time isn't great. You won't get more than just a few hours unplugged, but what are you doing playing games on a unplugged laptop anyway?
Negative:
- No Thunderbolt 3. Does have a USB-C port but not having Thunderbolt 3 is almost inexcusable considering the price you pay for this laptop. I have a Dell G7 from last year that was almost half the price of this laptop that does have Thunderbolt 3. So this laptop not having it is a strike in my book. Those that are looking to use a external GPU in the future must look elsewhere.
- Not the biggest fan of the keyboard layout. Number pad is a bit smaller than I'm used to and the zero number key is cut in half so I end up hitting the "Up" arrow key half the time. Don't like the arrow keys being pushed together where it is. Considering how big the laptop is you would think the would placed the arrow keys between the letters and number pad. Also unless I'm missing something, I do not understand why the right CTRL key is so huge. That space could have been used for the arrow keys.
- The camera is below the screen and to the side. Personally this doesn't bother me as I am not a streamer but I know this will annoy some people and I recommend investing in a camera.
Final thoughts:
This is a wonderful laptop and a wise investment for anyone interested in gaming on the go. Looks beautiful without going too far, and pretty much plays every game under the sun with little to no issues. While some of the negatives are just egregious, overall this will be one of the best laptops for a very long time and I will recommend this one to anyone that ask.

This is a powerful gaming computer that has all the power and capabilities I'd expect from Asus. My last Asus G74sx lasted almost a decade before I put it to rest, although its still operational. I hope to get the same kind of durability and longevity out of this one. Thanks Best Buy for the great sale price!

My daughter is a Gaming and Graphic Design major. This computer is powerful for handling gaming and graphic design programs. It can do more than a MAC and with ease. However, my daughter had run ins with bias professors who preferred MAC and would down grade her just because she had a windows computer.

With a GeForce RTX 2060 I can play any game in high quality. Fans get noisy but not overly so. Can't figure out how to boot from USB as BIOS is unconventional. Graphics are buttery smooth playing Witcher 3, AC Odyssey, Titanfall 2, Wreckfest, etc.

Computer is wonderful but trying to get the free game download has been exasperating. Partly due to my misreading a letter in the code for the game. When I got it down I tried to get the game and every time they were down for maintenance. When I finally got through the free game download had expired. This on the NVIDIA SITE

Screen is beautiful. Also, power cable and ethernet port on the left is a must for me. Easy access to major components via a panel underneath was a smart move on ASUS. The webcam could be better, but to achieve the thin screen bezels Im not bothered by it at all. Amazing laptop!

BE AWARE!
This laptop is advertised with as having dual channel 16 gb of ram. In reality if you watch some youtube reviews it has 16gb of single channel ram. I purchased anyways and just upgraded my ram. Other than that it's perfect

I have had this computer for over a year now, and I thought it appropriate to write a review now. During the duration I owned this machine, it was great. However, now I find myself with a failed CPU fan and a failing GPU fan. They DO NOT make parts for this model/computer ANYMORE. All of the parts you find for it these days are either listed falsely for this model number or for the 15" edition. It seems the fans failing is common in this series of laptop, so please don't waste your time. Do not buy this.

little bulky but I don't mind it, like the carbon fiber finish on it.
led keyboard is not bad, but the W A S D don't light up very well as I would like. Compared to my last computer that was a ROG double the power now. gaming is a lot more smooth now and the computer runs very well.
