My last ASUS laptop lasted a couple years before the monitor died. I also have had an ASUS PC for the last few years so I'm pretty happy with the brand. I didn't actually pick the laptop up before I bought it and was surprised that it was fairly heavy but the set is far more than I expected. It works great, has plenty of memory, and even with Windows 10 it's faster than I expected. It is great at this price, as well.

It's a really nice portable gaming computer. It my be a bit heavy but that makes up for what it can do. I pretty much use it as my desktop computer with a plug in key board and mouse, when I need to ,unplug everything and go. Outstanding screen quality and internal speakers are average. Overall I really enjoy this computer. Great purchase for me.

I must say this is one hot pc laptop, amazed at the capabilities once only dreamed of in a desktop tower, runs Solidworks 2014 flawlessly. So if you are a designer or a gamer this is the pc for you. For you gamers, Solidworks takes way more hardware then your best games.

Bought this for my teenage son so he could game with his friends and so far he has had a fantastic time. Great graphics and speed, good sized screen all make for very positive experience. His friends were impressed when they got to try it, so that counts for something, too! He is very happy with what it does and so are we.

First thing, the downside is finding a bag to put this thing in. The laptop is pretty quick, 12gb ram and 2gb on video card so not bad. Keyboard lights up nicely, wish it had a different color for wasd keys but there's red coloring on them to help stand out. Sound is ok, external speakers or good headphones are recommended. Haven't played any hardware demanding games on it but it plays minecraft and some other games without dropping frame rate. Previous laptop was some hp that could play minecraft but not smoothly. If you're in the market for a mid-level laptop, not sure if this would be considered a low to mid gaming laptop, then this is definitely a good one. Or go spend the 5k on same brand that's liquid cooled with dual gtx 1080 graphics cards.

    Great Gaming Laptop!

I work as an author and am a hardcore gamer, and use my laptop for both. My most recent laptop actually wasn't a gaming laptop at all, but handled most games pretty well on low or medium settings. When that laptop finally died (RIP), I decided to upgrade to a gaming laptop. I need to be able to take my computer with me for writing and editing sessions, but I also wanted something that could run some games in my Steam library that I didn't trust my old computer to run. First of all, the shipping was fast (and free) and it was delivered to my home before it said it would be. It was packaged nicely and safely. The laptop itself is a beaut. It's a mixture of brushed silver, black, and copper and is very sexy looking! The laptop is quite heavy at 15 lbs, so for those scrawny people out there like myself, it might be a little challenging to carry with you when you need to. I was worried about having Windows 10. I bought my last laptop with Windows 7 far after Windows 8 was the norm, and paid a premium to avoid Windows 8. Next came Windows 10. For those of you who hate all the dumbing down of menus and your computer deciding for you what "apps" you want, Windows 10 does have that. For about an hour or two, I scoured through my new computer and deleted a lot of apps and removed a bunch of the pre-installed features. After changing some settings and turning some things off, I have a computer that works and runs pretty similarly to Windows 7, so it's possible to get there. It'll just take a few minutes of your time to set up. Despite the horror stories I've heard from others, I have yet to run into problems running a game on Windows 10. I play a LOT of older games from GOG, so this is a problem that I will need to keep up to date with. So far, Dungeon Keeper 2 worked great on this laptop after a simple download (that the computer itself recommended), so all has been well. Otherwise, the computer runs games smoothly, and the sound system this baby has is not to be understated. The entire back of the computer serves as speakers directed at you from behind the screen (when the laptop is open), and the laptop itself has great audio options allowing you to mess with it and get it to what you want. I've never had a computer with a sound system this nice. It's something I never knew I wanted, but will definitely miss if I don't have it in the future. The keyboard also lights up, so if you're too lazy to get up and turn the light on as the sun sets, just turn the keyboard lights on. The first game I played on my new laptop was The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and it ran flawlessly save for some stuttering during the last cut scene (not sure if that was a game or computer problem, but it didn't bother me). (It should be stated that other newer games, like Total War: Warhammer, have worked fine with no problems at all.) I've also played some games from the Xbox 360 era that obviously looked far better than when I'd played them on the 360, so it's been a lot of fun revisiting old classics and seeing how pretty I can get them to look! Lastly, the laptop's keyboard is very nice and responsive (something that's great for both my writing and gaming) and the laptop touchpad and mouse are high quality, though I soon turned them off to use a USB mouse. Thankfully, this laptop comes with four USB ports, so you can plug in all sorts of things you'll need for your gaming sessions. In summary, I got a great deal on this laptop and was not disappointed. It's a high quality laptop for those of you who want a computer that is nice enough to do everyday tasks while also being able to start up a newer game and trusting it to run. The sound system also makes it great for watching videos on, too, especially if you like to sometimes watch YouTube (or whatever else) with a spouse/friend/etc. Turn on the speakers, and viola! You have yourself a little laptop theater. I really love my new laptop, and it even has my husband thinking about getting one (he's never been a PC gamer and usually sticks to consoles, while I love both). I think it's also a good starter computer for those thinking about getting into PC gaming while not being attracted to the higher prices of a lot of the models. Highly recommended!

The size of this laptop is huge! It's a lot heavier than any other one you may buy and that's probably because of the guts in this thing. It's pretty fast too but I dont play online games. I had to return the first one because the software was screwing up. There are a few quirks with Windows that I'm happy about, but I can run a lot of tasks at one time with ease. It has a lot of ports for USB and to connect to a video screen so it's a desktop that travels.

This laptop is pretty good for pretty much everything I use it for. I am a pretty avid gamer, so I needed a great laptop for gaming. I can run almost every game I have with Ultra settings with no change in frame rate. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because it has a really low battery life, and the speakers can echo a bit. But I use a Bluetooth speaker so I don't worry about the speakers from the laptop itself.

this laptop is so good for gaming on the only downside an reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because the battery doesnt last much longer than 3hours, which as a person who plays WoW primarily thats barely long enough to get through a raid without it dying, so be aware of that. performance wise on the other hand it slays quite well, i often play wow on ultra settings every setting on max and it still pulls 60+ fps even with 6 other programs and multiple browser tabs going on firefox, no hitches or bugs in anything. other thing to note though, sometimes when I tell it to sleep mode, and then re open or boot it up again, itll act like it was shut down instead so whatever i had previously active is somehow shut down and closed out, so be wary of that if youre a college student or someone whos constantly on the go of on/off/on again activity. other than the battery not lasting long and the sleep setting not always working, ive pretty muched boiled that down to what seems like it only does that if you change out wifi networks, in my case being on my colleges network then going home and using my home wifi itll cause it to act like the laptop was shut down even if i just closed the screen itself and not selected sleep.

Very powerful. It does glitch every now and then (minor problem - reboot fixes any issues), but it's amazing for gaming. Would say this would not be the best everyday use computer, but an overall amazing gaming system.

This was my 1st gaming computer and I'm very happy with it. The only game I really play is the Sims 3 but I tend to play it for several hours at a time so I wanted to get a computer with good cooling capabilities. I've had the computer for 6 months and the only complaints I have are related to Windows 10, not the computer itself. I feel like the speakers could be in a better place, they are behind the screen which is odd. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and feel like I got a good gaming computer without having to spend a ton of money!

We bought this laptop as a replacement for a gamer's desktop for our adult daughter with autism. She is heavily into art, designs her own videogames, and plays games, so we needed a powerful, fast machine with plenty of memory. The DVD drive was a plus (most laptops no longer have this feature), as our daughter is somewhat routinized in her use of computers due to her autism. The screen is huge yet the unit doesn't weigh that much. We're super happy with this choice! It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for here.

    Fantastic Portable Gaming Computer

This computer is fantastic for someone looking to do some gaming on the go. The problems with most other "gaming" computers that I've used has been heat; after only an hour or two, it will heat up the bottom of the computer, which is uncomfortable for the user and potentially dangerous to the unit. With the Asus ROG series, the GIANT exhaust fans prevent this. Gaming performance was excellent! Scored mine for $250 at the time, which is more than a great value. The only con is the battery; I would think doing only simple web browsing it would have at least a 5-6 hour battery but it estimated only about 2.

I was hesitant at first because of the price. But it turned out to be a great buy. I purchased this computer for purely gaming. So far I've played Civilization 5, the Mass Effect trilogy, Skyrim, Pay Day and Fallout 4. With all if these games there was no lag. I had the visual graphics set to max. Also the subwoofer is great for watching movies or TV shows. All in all this is a great laptop for a gamer. For anything else it's just wasted money. This laptop was designed for gaming after all.

I bought this laptop before really deciding what it was going to be used for. I used to be a gamer, so I was looking for all of the best specs, and this laptop delivered. However, it turns out that this is not a great machine for what I needed - that is portability and comfort away from a desk. If you want a laptop that won't be moved much, mainly for games, this is the one for you. If you need something portable, for work or school, I would recommend something a bit smaller.

I was looking for a computer with a fast processor and an ultraquick video chipset. I fell in love when I laid eyes on this computer. It IS bigger than your average laptop but it is so much more capable. BestBuy didn't have a computer carry case big enough for it though. I may have to have a custom case made. If you have to have a portable gaming machine. This is the one. My next add-ons will be more ram. It will take up to 64gb.

Im only taking away one star because when i first bought the laptop, it constantly restarted it self i turn it on it restarts as soon as i log in, but when i took it to best buy they helped me exchange it for a new one but only becuase i was within my 15 days. Other than that my new one has been working great its really zippy and dosent lag at all when i play my favorite games on the highest settings, i did run into a stange issue lately when i turn it on to boot it goes past the loading screen and it looks as if the laptop turned off but all the lights still are lit untill i press the power button which puts it to sleep, but when i touch the power button again it wakes up on the "enter your password screen", ive even went to various fourms where a good number of people are experiencing the same issue i dont know if its a windows problem, So all i say is beware other than that i feel its a great laptop for the price Pros; very attractive design, the 2 vents on the back keep the notebook at a nice temp even when your playing video games like gta 5 or civilization even for long periods of time on maxed out settings and fast charging Cons; alittle on the heavy side, battery life isnt up to my standards when i play gta 5 on battery from 100 i get less than 1 hour and 30 mins on bat and Restarting issue

Had this computer for a few weeks now and it runs nearly every game I throw at it without a problem. Plus it's large enough to accommodate a place setting for dinner. Kidding aside, I love the full-size keyboard, large screen and dedicated fans. The battery life is sad, but then given the great performance, that's an understandable trade-off. Trying to find bags and covers which fit the laptop has become a bit of an issue though. This is definitely a desktop replacement but you sacrifice some portability. It's basically a much more portable desktop, which is exactly what I was looking for.
