We play League of Legends on this system and its great. Only complaint is the hard drive is slow, but once the programs are running its great. Touch screen is cool and is high resolution. The audio headphone port is slow to detect when plugging phones in. Illuminated keyboard rocks.

First let me start off by saying...don't let the fact that it has 965...it WILL be enough...second....by an ssd and a 8 gig stick....cost me 175...i got this for 1100 on sale...ALSO this has a TOUCH SCREEN...only the higher end model has the touchscreen. I knoewor you Matte only gamers want the matte,...I refer the glossy...and touch...and NO it is NOT so glossy you see yourself...you can GAME on this...so if you are on an budget and this is on sale for 1100...its a steal!!!! I easily cloned the original drive to the SSD and made the 1 TB the storage drive. SO it BOOTS in 4-5 seconds. NO BS

As expected, this Asus Republic of Gamers laptop performs. Mine runs Skyrim with all graphical mods on ultra settings flawlessly, which is all I asked of it to do. Runs like a well oiled machine, and for the money and size it is a beast. Wish the screen size was a bit bigger, but otherwise very satisfied with this purchase.

Considering it's a laptop, it's actually quite well equipped. I can run all of the Blizzard games on ultra, with the current WoW Expansion (WoD) on ultra with about 80FPS in the current zones.
I'm experiencing some lag in the assassin's creed games. I run about 30fps. But that's likely because of the CPU.
I could overclock my cpu, but because its a laptop it would be an extreme hassle if not impossible to replace the CPU in the motherboard.
I also run Adobe after effects. While it's not the best equiped to run, it does the simple rendering.
I'd recommend getting this for the beginner gamer that's looking for something portable. If you're looking for something more advanced and customizable, I recommend a desktop computer where you can easily switch parts out on the fly.
Overall, great getup and go for the current generation of games of 2015.

Great Laptop For Gaming Or Work

I researched laptops for about a month before finally deciding on the ROG 751 system. I have owned Alienware and MSI laptops in the past, but because I was not going to be using the laptop for much gaming this time around I didn't really start out considering a gaming system. But my needs, and the fact that I wanted something easy to upgrade, helped me narrow my search.
The Asus G751 ROG unit is really a BEAST! Not only in its speed and power, but it weight. If you are looking for a 17.3" laptop, and weight is an issue, there are many out there that way much less. I have a rolling laptop case though and moving the laptop from my home to my office hasn't been much of an issue for me. But if you are looking for something to sit on the couch with and surf the 'net, go with something lighter.
Battery life wasn't really a deal killer for me. The Asus unit gets about 3.5 hours of battery life during "regular" use, whatever that means. Since most people will have different uses for a laptop, the battery power may be different for each person, obviously. I am getting about 3 hours of use, but I bought an extra power adapter and have it at work. So, I don't need to worry too much about battery use. I did, just recently, take the laptop on a flight from Northern California to Arizona last week. I read many reviews that have said that this isn't a "flight friendly" laptop. Well, it worked great for my trip. I watched a Blu-Ray movie during the flight and it was easy to set on my tray and watch it. I guess you wouldn't want to fly across the country with it though.
I did upgrade my system right away. I put in 8 more gigs of memory for a total of 16gb. I also added a blu-ray drive I purchased from Amazon. Everything was very easy to upgrade. There is just ONE screw on the back panel that you remove to get to the hard drive bays (there are TWO of them), the memory slots, and the DVD screws. It took me a total of 10 min to upgrade everything (maybe less).
The ONE thing I almost universally agree with from other reviewers is this: You MUST upgrade the hard drive that the system comes with. Although it is nice to have 1 TB of space, the drive is painfully slow! I ended up buying a 980gb SSD drive. Cloned the drive from the original, popped it in, and everything ran flawlessly. The SSD boots up in no time and the overall pace of the system is just better. If you can only afford ONE upgrade for awhile after buying this unit, make it an SSD purchase.
Anyway, as far as games, I have only run Star Wars Battlefront and Tomb Raider on it recently. I did download and play the most recent Tell Tale Games "Walking Dead: Michonne" game too. All three seemed to run great. I didn't have any issues.
Overall, I am very happy with the laptop. The reason it did not get a 5-Star rating from me is one thing: they keyboard back-light. When it is on all the keys are "red" in color. It really makes it hard to see some keys, when you are in a darker room, and it can also be distracting sometimes. When I played games I ended up just turning it off. It is a small issue for some, I am sure, but for me it is one issue that ASUS could have done better with.
When this laptop becomes too old to do what I need I would definetely consider ASUS again.

I bought this for my daughter and she loves it. She needed a computer that could handle huge Photoshop files for her picture editing and she also likes to play some of the more graphics intensive games. This computer fit the bill very nicely. We will probably be putting in another 8gbs of ram soon and 240gbs SDD because the 5400rpm HD is really slow. The nice thing about this computer is it's upgradability it has 2 empty ram slots and an empty HD bay so you can just add more without taking out the old.

This laptop is amazing. Watched the sale for a few days and decided to purchase it. This laptop plays Dragon Age: Inquisition quite well. Kerbal Space Program runs wonderful on it too! Most games I have purchased from Steam can be played on this on high settings. I bought it on sale and would recommend it to anyone!

Sure, it may weigh as much as your neurotic friend that went boneless in order to prevent you from taking them to the scary rollercoaster ride, BUT this thing is worth it! It has more power behind it than Babe Ruth pinch-hitting for a little league game, and it is gorgeous. I'm taking Jessica Rabbit, Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. You'll be able to play anything out right now in ultra. Benchmarks: EliteDangerous - ultra, 80 fps ; Witcher three - ultra, 55-70 fps ; Dirty Bomb - (if you can ever find a server that isn't run on a toaster) ultra 70-80 fps.
Plus, my arms are now jacked from carrying it

Love the graphic and speed of this rig. The fact that it's the base of the ROG G751 and runs as well as it does on 8GBs and can be upgraded to 32, rocks!!!

This is one big and heavy laptop. Those are the cons. Two. I bought this because I wanted to get into gaming because of my age and to guard against mental decline. Very pleased with this machine. It's fast. Graphics are top shelf. Still not fond of windows 8 but that will be soon taken care of with the release of 10. System stays cool, multitasks well as long as your not getting too carried away with gumming up the system with tons of apps and programs. The sound has been amped up considerably, since ASUS Achilles heel was sound. If I could figure out how to keep the keyboard backlite I would be a happy camper. A nice rugged designed for hard gaming machine that will not dissapoint.

This product is a big leap better than my old one! On my old laptop I could not even play the Witcher 3. But soon as I bought this new laptop I can play that game with flying colors. The back glows and the red light keyboard just makes the look more intimidating. Sadly the material it's made out of shows finger print oil but I recommend keeping it in mint condition for as along as you can! Great laptop by far. Even cooler with windows 10

I chose this laptop because my husband has macular degeneration and is nearly blind. Both of us are retired and while I do e-mails or surf the web, he likes for me to pass the computer to him and we talk about what is there. It is very fast.

I bought this laptop in an emergency - I needed a computer right away and this was the best the store carried. Since then, I've been consistently pleased with the performance of this computer.
Pros:
Nice bright display
Touch screen
Extra hard drive bay
Expandable memory
Backlit full-size keyboard
Excellent graphics hardware
Cons:
Too big to fit in a standard laptop bag/backpack
Optical drive tray seems flimsy
I liked it so much, I bought a second one as a birthday present for my son.

I am enjoying my new purchase. I have not had any problems with it and neither has my son. I think he may put it through more hoops than I am though. I mostly play World of Tanks, planes and Warships. My son plays other games that use more graphics. But in the ones I play there is a great difference. I can see the dust from the tracks and such as well as the designs are better.

If this laptop came with windows 7 I might have given it 5 stars. I really hate windows 8. I'll be upgrading to 10 soon.
As for the laptop, I think for the price point there are better laptops spec wise HOWEVER if you're going to be gaming the built in fans are truly worth it. This laptop never gets too hot so that I'm wondering it components are being damaged. If you aren't going to be gaming much I suggest a different laptop. For this cash you could get yourself one with higher specs and isn't SUPER HEAVY. This thing is a freaking brick and was a total pain to fly with. Way too heavy for it to have much portability. I wasn't expecting much in that department but really, don't expect to tote this thing around.

Great gaming pc...although I dont really use it for gaming; needed the power for graphics / video rendering work. The only issue I have run into so far seems to be the OS hanging on boot; it causes the screen to produce random pixels but corrects itself. I dont think that has anything to do with the machine though; I'll blame Microsoft for that. Just a word of caution; this beast is a lot heavier than it looks...hit the gym first ;)
