After my Lenovo was stolen during a break-in last year, I needed a laptop that would be able to run video games and movies to take with me on deployment. I found this model to be exactly what I wanted; discrete graphics(absolutely necessary), dedicated SSD for the OS, and a tablet mode with drawing capability for studying. I had about 3 weeks to set it up and use it before my ship set out for 5th Fleet. During that time, this thing ran like a dream and did what I wanted. I ran video games at mid-level settings and loved the display quality. But the fun lasted about 5 months. While underway, I found myself with pretty limited time to play video games, so my laptop was mostly just used to play movies from an external HDD and hooked up to a TV in the corner of my workcenter; left alone and mildly used in an air-conditioned room for months. During a January port call in Duqm, Oman, I took it to a hotel to take care of some business as I had not had a decent internet connection in more than 60 days. I updated Windows and then tried to get to work just to discover that my wireless adapter had stopped working. I reverted to the previous version of Windows and that did nothing. I found that I could fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, which I would have to do every few hours. Odd, but I would have to figure it out later since I only had about 24 hours off the ship before I would have to go back. This problem persisted and culminated in a gross failure of the wireless adapter once I was back home after deployment. Now it will work ONLY if I hard reset the computer and will stop once I close the lid or let it fall asleep, so now I just use an external adapter. Sounds like a software problem or maybe I just need to replace the adapter. Easy, right? Maybe, but that's not my only problem. About a month and a half ago, I tried booting up a video game. It loaded alright, but something seemed off. As soon as I tried playing, the computer went full potato; the graphics were awful and it lagged more than my grandma's computer on dial-up. I tried to manually enable the discrete graphics for the game from the NVIDIA control panel (which I shouldn't have to do anyway) just to find that my computer no longer recognized my graphics card. Not even in the Device Manager; it just wasn't there! Over the course of several days, I tried every single bit of troubleshooting I could find on the internet short of prying the processor off the motherboard and I arrived at the conclusion that my graphics processor was probably shot. Keep in mind that I had not updated any software prior to this happening. I contacted Asus customer service and they told me I can send them my computer and they would diagnose the problem. The issue is that I would then have to front the cost of repair parts and labor and that my computer would be gone from anywhere between 3 weeks and 3 months if reviews of Asus' repair services are to be believed. So if MY diagnosis is right, I will be without a computer for an extended amount of time just to pay several hundred dollars to get it back to working order. Or I could have a $1,200 pretty laptop that can't do anything beyond stream Netflix. It's a lose-lose scenario. TL;DR in less than one year of use, my laptop lost one of its most attractive features and I barely ever stressed it. Not worth the cost and sheer frustration.

The laptop is very sturdy and the touchscreen, 2-1 is great. However, the hinges have started becoming very squeaky when I adjust it and sometimes while I am in the middle of scrolling (in laptop mode), my touchpad stops working. I'm not sure what the issue is but I checked to see if the touchpad was activated and updated, and it was. Not sure why it randomly stops letting me scroll which is the main issue I have with this laptop since I hate having to scroll using the sidebar and would prefer the two finger swipe. The screen also gets smudged easily so there is a wiping cloth is included. Those are the only issues I have with this laptop, but otherwise everything seems fine. Still trying to figure out what to do with the touchpad though.

We have had the computer for a month now. It took a while to get used to the smaller keys and keyboard, but ok. The battery life isn't quite as good as was told us in the store. The picture quality is great, and the reaction time for opening each new project is super fast. The face recognition feature to open the computer rarely works. Hoping this will be a good investment for a couple years.

This computer was purchased brand new, and had a defective battery. For the price over $1000 , I expect good build and good quality. I felt let down and the labtop felt cheap as well. Thanks to Best Buy elite status, I returned it and bought an HP instead.

This laptop functions well as a 2-in-1 tablet/computer. Great for school/work while also working well for casual gaming. While it is not as powerful as my old gaming laptop, it can run games like Alpha Protocol, Watch Dogs 2, and Ghost Recon Wildlands in high or ultra graphics settings. For some reason, medium graphics settings are needed for Elder Scrolls to work smoothly.

4K is a little overkill. Opening the screen is a bit hard as there is no indent to get your finger in. 1440p screen would be great in this size. The touch screen is nice, get the pen. The track pad is a little sketchy sometimes. Lastly undervolt it with the Intel extreme tuning utility for battery and thermals improvement.

The display is amazing, the build is beautiful, keyboard seems perfect, there is no flex, and for a 4.2 pound 15.6" 2 in 1 that is a wow. There is an odd design decision, two fans with only one heat pipe, that causes thermal throttling and a bit less performance that is possible from this hardware, but overall I love this laptop. The new model incorporates 10th gen Intel core I7, otherwise these are about identical. I see that the latest is still available in open box for under $1,000 - you could not go wrong if you could find one of these for $1,000 or less. Good luck, blessings.

I recently upgraded from the surface pro. I was originally a Mac user. Decided I wanted something more powerful then the surface pro. For being a 2-in-1 laptop i was surprised by the power of it. The overall battery life is great . I use it for school work , edit photos and videos, and more. It runs extremely well. It is definitely worth the money.

I have had this laptop for about 2 months and just love it! It's fast, light (compared to my last one) and quiet. I've read some other reviews saying otherwise, but I have no complaints about the sound the fan makes when it runs. My only gripe is that I've unintentionally closed out my browser a few times when adjusting the angle of the screen that's because of the narrow bezel. But, I consider that part of the learning curve when getting used to something new. The 4K touchscreen is great & backlit keyboard gives you 3 levels of brightness. Buy it today it's on sale for a great price!

I am an analyst by profession and love this laptop. I'm not a purist or nitpicky tester. I want it to work properly, snappy, and zero issues. This has delivered everything I need and then some. The display is gorgeous. The backlit keyboard is just right for me, and the trackpad has been spot on. I have had moment where it doesnt sense my fingers but usually attribute it to my hands getting very dry. Most often I use a mouse anyway. So, these times are trivial but felt it worth noting. I hope this helps someone, but I dont think you'll regret it in the slightest.

First I want to thank Adrian and Matt at the Florence, KY store for their professional help. I did watch videos and did as much research as i could before making my purchase. This laptop has it all. Incredibly fast, nice keyboard, super bright screen. I am coming from an older Asus it worked like a champ and still does. Asus has been a great brand for me. I am so happy I made this purchase and hope it lasts years like my previous Asus. Thanks BB for having this laptop in stock and for the great help i received in store. Plus I got it 200 off normal price.

This is a nice computer and is able to handle my Chief Architect 10 design and drafting program. My only complaint is the battery. It doesn't last 9 hours per charge like what Asus claims. It only lasts 3.5 average based on my experience.

This computer is very fast. I really like the features it has to offer. I love the touch screen and that it can fold backwards in tablet mode. The one thing that has been mentioned before and it's the same for me, the touch pad needs some help. Sometimes the pad won't respond at all and other times the computer loses the mouse pointer. I have had some issues with the wireless adapter not connecting as fast as it used to. Other than that, I'm very pleased with this laptop.
