Excellent for Students, Gamers and Business.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer about a week ago and I must say this is without a doubt the best laptop I have owned. The speed of the 5th Gen i7 processor paired with a versatile Nvidia graphics card allows for seamless streaming, gaming and college work. Although battery life is not as long as some other laptops, the power is put to good use via the performance setting (which I always use), allowing the computer to use 100% its potential in computing power. Not to mention the clarity of the display, keyboard lighting and black hairline exterior brings this laptop to the top of the class of the 21st century. I would definitely recommend the Asus 2 in 1 Convertible Laptop for this price range.

Awesome laptop for so many reasons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very picky with my laptops and knew exactly what I was looking for. I shopped amazon and bestbuy.com as well as 4 bestbuy stores in my town for about 2 weeks in order to find the perfect combination of what I wanted. This was a perfect medium for all my needs - I wanted a laptop that could flip to a tablet AND with a DVD drive which was nonexistent until I found this laptop. It can expand to 12GB ram and has a video card. I'm very happy with this purchase and have a hard time not bragging to all my friends about it every chance I get. I use this laptop for photography (lightroom and some photoshop) as well as office work (excel) and some CGI (Blender) and it works very well for all of them. This model has actually been discontinued in some fashion so the only one I could find was a display model at a store. I asked for it and got the price down to 820 from 1000. Because of some pricing problem it came down to 800 and I got the 1 year coverage with Webroot which I highly recommend. So I got a great deal It rarely freezes and works so much faster than my previous machine. I had a i3 Lenovo with 4GB ram and this is a huge leap forward. I would gladly give it a 5 star rating if it weren't for these minor complaints: 1. The mousepad feels to far to the left, I often think I'm pressing the left button but I'm pressing the right + there's no physical indication as to when you pass the middle point. The entire mouse area is one single flat surface and the button areas are also sensitive so when you press down the pointer may move a little. 2. The screen color is off, I tried my hardest to match my previous laptop screen color using the curves adjustments but I could not and the screen does not get nearly as bright as my old lenovo. When I'm outside it's just not bright enough to make things easy. 3. I wish the ram could go up to 16 GB but because there's 4 GB soldered in and only 1 slot it means you cna only go up to 12. But perhaps this won't be necessary for my uses as I don't play games. 4. The speakers are not very full in their frequency range, the mid and bass are weak. But thankfully the laptop comes with a small subwoofer that plugs in to it's own designated jack and makes up for the weak low end sound.

Great computer, except the battery life.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When ever I went to get this laptop I was expecting what I got, except the battery life sucks. I'm not sure if it's just that it has windows 10 or I'm doing something wrong, but my computer only last two hours at most when it says around six I'm pretty sure, if not more. I got this for gaming and school work and I take great care of it, and I only got it three days ago, I love it besides the battery life problem.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I consider myself a very picky person when it comes to my electronics, as a matter of fact its the only thing im picky about. I had a Toshiba that lasted me a year before the HDD crapped out on me, I then got an Asus in 2010, loved it, and have had it since, still works great, but since 2 in 1's have been out I've been waiting for one to stand up enough for me to buy it. This is that Laptop! I'm a college student initially for Engineering, now for Business, and this laptop has blown my high expectations out of the water. The design is flawless, it works fantastic both in Tablet and Laptop mode, and believe me i swap it often, swinging this hing back and forth on the go. I could've saved some money getting the model without the graphics card, but its never a bad thing to have, especially if gaming is a consideration. It's comfortable, stylish, not too heavy, and touch sensitivity, keybooard, and mouse are all in line perfectly. I give it a 10 out of 10! or 5 stars out of 5!

Great laptop, being held back though.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this laptop, I needed something less heavy than my Alienware to lug around between classes. I chose the i7 with the GTX940m over the base i5 and integrated graphics expecting to handle basic games and better movie capability and have it less sluggish. It's a overall great laptop, the feel is solid, screens awesome (Fingerprints do not want to wipe off without a fight), USB phone quick charger, Windows 10 works great with the touchscreen and it's decently fast. It's just being held back by some things. Pros: Light Affordable 2 In 1 Nvidia Graphics (Make sure to download Nvidia GeForce experience) Pretty good battery life Cool included speaker Attractive Light up keyboard is a major plus. Cons: Bad Cooling, the fans output and input are right next to each other, and the hinge for the "2in1" is blocking both of them. So all it does is recycle it's own very hot air. I've played League of Legends at almost max and Starbound and it really heats this laptop up and there is no easy way you are going to keep it cool. Underpowered duel core processor: although you get what you pay for the price I max this processor out just playing a simple game like Starbound, memory, HDD, Graphics and everything is great, it's just this CPU and probably cooling issue that is bottlenecking it. Just because it says "Hyperthreaded" does not make this nearly as fast or good as a quad core. For how much they charge more for this one over the i5 and no quad core is kind of absurd. Once heated up the laptop is uncomfortable to keep your hands on QWER (League of Legends) or WASD. Seems like the CPU is right under this area? Really awkward feel using it flipped over: I rarely use this, and it's useful sometimes but I can't see myself constantly using it in tablet mode. You're just slamming the keys on the bottom (Though ASUS has a tool built in that locks everything when you flip it all the way around). Fingerprint magnet, and hard to get rid of. and the last of my real gripes with this laptop is the touchpad is pretty insensitive, took some getting used to and it's still very "weird" to use. I find myself using the touchscreen because the touchpad is being an issue. Overall and TL;DR when it's on sale or you can get a discount it's well worth the money. Solid good laptop to carry to class or to browse / use Adobe products and more. CPU lacks, and has cooling issues.

Cannot beat Asus
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to purchasing this Laptop I seriously considered an ASUS ROG, mostly for the gaming specs, but after realizing I did not need that much hardware to achieve what I wanted to do this laptop became next on the list. I've owned now for two months, using W10. Boot ups are quick despite a mechanical drive, Ram speeds are great, would consider upgrading to 16 G. Graphics is good even with high demand games. Heat vents are at the rear of the frame where the device hinges are so normal chill pads are less than useful, the sound is good with dongle speaker, without the external speaker its pretty basic. It feels super light and easily portable. I am impressed with the design, function and aesthetics of this laptop, Asus motherboards are some of the best, and I would consider purchasing another Asus laptop or desktop for the future.

Solid Multimedia Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this over an HP that is $50 less on sale currently with no disc drive and a slightly slower GPU (930m). I got this one for $875 (with trade in of my 6 year old HP). Plays most of my older games with a mixture of high and medium at the native resolution of 1920x1080. (Crysis, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space). Plays less demanding games like Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 maxed. Other then playing games, ill be using this with Traktor Pro 2 when I purchase it. The CPU is not a quad core but it is sufficient and not a slouch by any means. Actually runs a little faster than my old laptops "720qm" CPU (1.6 ghz vs 2.4 ghz). Hard Drive may be slower and not an SSD but I dont notice too much slow dow, still boots up in less then 30 sec.

So far, pretty darn good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up with this Asus Q551L, after returning another brand/model twice. Turns out it was very lucky. This one has some things the other didn't - cd/dvd drive, adjustable backlit key brightness and slightly better video card. Set up was easy and smooth, also started up and ran a game with no issues. It has been running for a few hours now, still cool to touch. Easy conversion to tablet mode, touch screen is nicely sensitive. Overall, very happy I decided to jump to this one.

Great laptop with one correctable flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop because I wanted a solid laptop I could run Linux on for work purposes. I installed Fedora 22 on it and it worked perfectly with no major issues, so if you are a fellow Linux user and are concerned about hardware support, fear not. The only issue I ran into was that the function keys for adjusting screen brightness do not work, but this can easily be adjusted in GNOME 3. Fortunately, the ones for keyboard brightness work fine. From a hardware standpoint, the build quality is amazing and the laptop's black, brushed aluminum look is gorgeous; the pictures don't really do it justice. And despite using a chiclet-style keyboard like most laptops, the keys feel very clicky and responsive. The one flaw, which I promptly corrected on my own, is that the hard drive is a 5400RPM traditional hard drive and not an SSD. This was very noticeable not only during boot but during normal use as well; the I/O speed just wasn't where it needed to be. Fortunately, the unit was very easy to open up and swapping out the hard drive for an SSD I purchased was a very simple, straight-forward process. All in all, a very solid laptop for the price. Would recommend.

Check the battery closely
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Learn from my mistake, before you invest hours in getting this, or any new computer configured, find a Windows 10 tutorial on YouTube and watch it. Follow the narrator and do what he does. This will help you learn Windows 10 while simultaneously verifying Windows 10 works properly. I bought this ASUS on Friday, spent many hours getting it configured on Saturday, and then realized Windows 10 was not acting right. Nothing happened when I clicked on the Windows icon on the left side of my screen. I am a fellow at the Army War College and my current laptop is not doing well. It takes a lot of effort to get a personal laptop to access the DoD website due to all of the security requirements. Sadly I got it all working right before I realized something was not right. I called ASUS on Sunday and spent an hour with a technician and he agreed with me, Windows 10 was not right. Ultimately, he recommended I do a restore on my computer, which erased all of my efforts from Saturday. I restored the computer and Windows was working better, which is when I did the tutorial that I noted earlier. At the end of the tutorial, the narrator was talking about the battery and the metrics Windows 10 shows. I was multi-tasking at that point (i.e. doing other things) and decided to look at that on my computer. That is when I noticed my laptop did not charge to 100% despite being plugged in since Friday. At that point, I knew I was taking the computer back and did today. All laptops lose battery charge over time. My current laptop never charges past 80%. I was not going to accept a new computer that does not start at 100%. I purchased an ASUS two years earlier and the battery failed on that computer right after I brought it home too. My battery success with ASUS is low so I will not be purchasing another device from them. All that said, the computer was nice. The screen was clear and vibrant. The keyboard was nice and the additional speaker they provide is a nice touch and adds richness to the sound. However, the computer is heavy. I would not want to lug it around on long trips nor have it on my lap for long periods. Second, it takes about two minutes or so to boot the computer. If you do not travel with the computer often and have the need to turn it off and on, startup time may not matter to you. I do travel with my laptop so that was an issue for me. I will replace the ASUS with an HP or Lenovo. I want a computer that comes pre-installed with Windows 10 because the manufacture should verify that all of the drivers work with Windows 10. If you upgrade from 8.1, I the drivers may not work optimally. I will also go with an SSD drive because the startup time is about 15-20 seconds vice the two minutes I was experiencing with the ASUS. I do not save much data on my hard drive so 256GB will be plenty for me, I do not need the 1TB. Everyone’s needs are different and after trying the ASUS for a few days, I realized it was not the best choice for me.

ASUS 2in1 TouchScreen Q551LN-BBI7T09
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After searching for a new laptop for months and waiting for the new windows 10. I was at Best Buy and the young man showed me this ASUS 2in1 I was not sure I liked the name. All of my other laptops where HP's or Toshiba's. But he insured me it was a good name brand. The laptop I wanted had to have a DVD drive, HDMI hook up for my projector, and be able to handle photo editing software like CS6, lightroom and Elements, as I am a photographer. Nice and light for taking on shoots. I love the speed, of it with only 8 gigs a ram, will be adding more ram to bring it to it's max. Not to sure about the silver on silver back light for the keys hard to see at times. Other then that it is a good computer so far, no problems as of the first month.

Great Hardwear....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is great the windows 10 dos seem a little slow but Cant say that's because of the Laptop its self but more of the OS but for the fist time using windows 10 , windows 8 seemed faster at start up and a little more snappy but beside that great laptop for gaming been playing mortal kombat X , and sandbox games like the forest all set at high graphics textures but have not tried gta V yet but im sure it can handle it at 720p resolution .

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to look at laptops, had my questions answered by a knowledgeable employee, then went home and read through reviews for the Asus - 2-in-1 15.6 Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Black Hairline. Satisfied, I returned to the store the next day and purchased the laptop. I've been so pleased with my purchase and I know if I have questions/problems, the Geek Squad is ready to assist.

Powerful and Versatile
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this ASUS laptop to replace a 4 year old Acer that gave up the ghost. This is a great laptop for anyone looking at a convertible that can double as a large tablet. The processor and memory included work well and the HD screen and sound are outstanding. Excellent laptop for the money.

Poorly built computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer as a portable work computer as it claimed to have the necessary specifications. Despite its Nvidia Graphics card and 8 gb ramm, this computer cannot multitask. I had trouble running AutoCad and a song on iTunes at the same time! The speakers are poorly placed and the battery life is very limited. The metal casing is very thin and flimsy, the screen was coming out of the case because it was bent out of the box. It has a disc drive but that will probably be one of the first things to break. Don't expect this computer to last.

Despite the advertisement, did not have WIndows 10
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to the store to get this item so I could talk with a Best Buy sales person. I had read up on it online first and knew exactly what I wanted - first and foremost Windows 10 installed, so that I didn't have to do an upgrade. Then of course all the other features that were on this one. So far I am 4 hours into set up and still trying to download Windows 10. After spending what I did for this and the additional for the warranty I am really disappointed that it is a "download" and not already installed. Double check before buying so that you don't have to go through this. Also, it doesn't have a lan hookup, so you must do everything wirelessly. I haven't had a chance to use the laptop yet to know if it all works as it is supposed to because it is still tied up downloading. Also, if you want the free Trend Internet Security that is supposed to be included make sure you get it added onto your receipt before you leave the store as mine was not.
