I recently switched to an ISP that would let you use your own router since their gateway was trash and hardly covered the west side of my house. I knew this was the best product ASUS made right now, so I wanted to give it a shot to meet my needs. I unboxed it on 3/23/16 and it has met my needs and then some. I have about an 1800 sq foot house currently and I have not found a dead zone yet, and I did not even center the router in the main part of the house. I have it isolated in my office and it covers the bed room on the opposite side of the house just fine. I have been using Wifi Analyzer on Android to measure the signal and have not had any issues yet. The price tag may turn some people off which is fair, it is a hefty price, but for me I just couldn't risk spending less and getting less performance. In my experience you will not get minimal performance with this router.

The AiMesh feature is great! so if you have other Asus compatible routers you could increase your wireless coverage. However there are other routers for the same price that work the same or better especially with the new 6E routers that will start rolling out soon. I'd wait to get a new 6 or 6E router for the same price.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set this router up and 3 days later the 2.4 ghz radio stopped working, then the 5 ghz went offline, and finally the router became unresponsive after rebooting to troubleshoot the wireless radio issues. I spent a lot of time and money on this router only to have it brick on me for no apparent reason. Asus was willing to send another one, but I had the geek squad replacement plan and said no thanks. I went with a linksys router as I have had no issues with them in the past

I work from home. I noticed the video calls were freezing and my teens kept complaining about the speed. Originally, I thought it was my ISP until I plugged my laptop directly into the modem via Ethernet. The download speed was close to 200 which is what I pay for. However, download speed is only 10-20 mbps with this router. I contacted Asus support for help. What a waste of time. The rep had me change a few settings in the GUI which only made it worse. Then he started ignoring my questions and just kept typing in the background. Finally, he says it sounds like something is wrong with my router and I need to send it in for service. I went back to my ISP and requested a router to hold me off while I send it in for repair, but I really wish it wasn't too late to get my money back. I'm not sure if this is just a defective device or if this router just sucks, but I'm over it.
