Totally plastic build but solid with little keyboard flex. Fanless design is great - warm to the touch on full load. Sata ssd is upgradable as well as the WiFi card. Ram is unfortunately soldered to the board. Speakers are meh as to be expected at this price but you do get a decent 1080p panel. The bezels are huge and it feels more like a 15.6” than a 14”. Overall for the price I paid I’m totally satisfied. The only thing I wish it had is a backlit keyboard.

Nothing too fancy about this computer. It doesn't have a CD drive and no it doesn't light up or tell you when CAPS is on, but for the purpose of working from home and my kid being able to do her online assignments, it does the job! We can Zoom, Google, Outlook, and even play Sims 4 ;) Good is good enough for me - as the OG Cyndi Lauper would say.

never booted to microsoft windows, installed linux ubuntu 18.04.03 in about fifteen minutes, for a total time from walking in to bby to driving home to finishing the install of linux ubuntu of under one hour. udates were automatically downloaded and installed in under three minutes. why linux? long microsoft widows updates, slow microsoft windows software and endless microsoft windows security nightmares are not a problem for linux. nice linux rig, no fan, warm to the touch underside, installs linux ubuntu with no hitches, no bios adjustment, all devices recognized and functioning perfectly with no additional drivers to download. fast, excellent performance in ubuntu linux here, using external hard drives and sdcards to store non-system data files on all devices made transferring data from machine to machine a simple process, and avoided costs of cloud services. this rig has a microsd slot, so moving 1 TB of data was painless. also, it is helpful to avoid extra upgrade ssd whenever possible, due to the time the upgrade takes, and the fact that in a year or two the tech will be obsolete. reasonably rugged build, should be fine in a backpack if you handle carefully and use a sleeve. screen is reasonably viewable over a wide range of angles, and the full hd resolution means you can fit more work on the window. good luck, you will enjoy using this machine.

Primary use: office, photo editing, some game play. Only have owned for 1 day but I’m putting it to the test right away. Scrolling through 20 open Chrome tabs, with other apps open, this computer still runs remarkably fast. Sim City 3000 Unlimited runs extremely fast and so does the Capture One trial I’m running. The machine is really nice looking and feels durable and just the right weight. Even after running for a while stays cool. Responsive touchpad and I like the weight of the clicking. Absolutely exceeds my expectations and would highly recommend!

I saw this laptop on special, and I'm very glad I took advantage. Looking at the specs made me worrisome about performance, but coming from an old EliteBook, this laptop is a breath of fresh air! The SSD makes boot times almost instant, doing things like browsing the web, watching videos on the Full HD screen, and playing light flash games are a breeze. Battery life is great, and gets me through the day; even if it does get low, it has fast charging which helps me get back hours of use in minutes. The ErgoLift hinge helps out a lot when typing for long periods of time. It's light and thin, and since there's no fan, there's no annoying exhaust noise. Though I have some minor nitpicks: I wish it had a backlit keyboard, with lots of use it does get a little warm, the speakers are weak on volume, and unfortunately, there's no way to upgrade the RAM. But you get a lot more for what you pay for, and I am overall 100% satisfied with this laptop

Studied many brands and reviews of each looking for the perfect laptop. I wanted one that had high ratings, a webcam built in, a headphone jack, fast processor speed, and lightweight. I believe I found it all in this Asus computer. I really like the thin size of it as well as the lighter weight. My daughter has another brand of computer which I find to be thicker and heavier. This is great to take with you anywhere there is Wifi available. The Intel Core m5 processor seems very fast. Boots up quickly and pages load effortlessly. Has Windows 10s preloaded but you have the option to switch to Windows 10 instead if you prefer. Just remember if you change from Windows 10s to Windows 10 it's a one time deal. There's no going back. I really enjoy my new laptop and I highly recommend the purchase of one.

Nice design and its very well made for light duty however restrictions of Win 10 S mode I understand to preserve battery life with Intel M chip but its a tad slow and got hung up on some webpage transitions. Cannot upgrade RAM for future proof. Upgrading to Win 10 home 64 bit is $100 but this would compromise the system. Youtube videos were not very clear due to limited resolution and onboard graphics. Using this for light things such as school work for you child, web browsing and streaming should suffice however I would look for another laptop thats more future proof. even at $300.

Dear FranksandBeans,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the design of this laptop. This is certainly not the kind of experience that we want any of our customers to have. As you noted, this machine is not upgradeable and is only recommended for light computing and web browsing. I will forward your feedback to the Product team for review. If you have any general or technical questions, please email me at cl-lane@asus.com and include case #N200834749 for reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!

First of all, this laptop looks very styling and feels very light and portable. However, it only has 4gb of RAM. Running Windows 10 might be a little bit slow and the ram is not upgradeable. Keep in mind, it is still fully functional and even lets you switch out of S mode. It is definitely a steal or its price. I personally replaced the laptop with CloudReady chrome os which technically turned this laptop into a Chromebook. Now as a Chromebook, the 8th gen M3 processor and 4 GB of ram are powerful enough to ensure a very smooth and zippy web browsing experience. The battery on full-charged lasts around 7-8 hours which is awesome! I'm glad that I picked this up.

It’s lightweight and very portable. The color is vivid, but the volume is not very loud when watching YouTube videos with my 4 year old granddaughter.

Got it as a main travel companion, mainly for browsing and streaming. Pros: Great battery life. Crisp picture and fast enough to handle video conferences. Very light, Cons: Lack of backlit keyboard. Weak speakers.

Purchased this laptop just for school work and I actually really like it. The sleek, all white design is appealing. The laptop itself is lightweight so taking it with me anywhere doesn't feel cumbersome. I also could go hours without charging it and the battery would still be pretty full. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the matte screen as I prefer the glossy type but regardless I'd still purchase this laptop again.

I have really been loving my new laptop. It’s perfect for blogging, which is what I primarily got it for. It’s small, I love that it’s white and the price is great. It’s perfect for anyone looking to do basic web surfing, blogging, etc. The only thing I’ve noticed thus far to be aware of is that YouTube opens up slightly slowly. Not a great deal, but it does take a few seconds. Not enough to steer me away from the laptop, but something I thought anyone checking the reviews would like to know.

I love this computer! It loads quickly, and does exactly what I need it to. We run a home business, and usually print 200 or more page packets multiple times a day, so we need something that is fast but not super fancy. The packets usually take less than a minute to download (they’re huge packets) and another five minutes to print on our Workforce printer (we print two copies at a time). I haven’t watched videos on it, but have had a few zoom calls and it stayed connected the entire time without any lag. The battery life is great, and I only need to charge it once every few days at the current rate of use. The only reason this computer doesn’t get five stars is because of the power button’s placement. It’s where the delete (not back space) button usually is, so I’ve shut the computer down a few times trying to hit delete, but it quickly started back up again. Once I get the hang of not hitting the power button when I need to delete something, it won’t be an issue

I'm q full-time college student. Needed a lightweight laptop to carry around. Needed a small non bulky laptop that fits on the small space provided during lecture classes. The laptop works with Blackboard good. Google docs and Microsoft office work good. Good battery life can last through my school day and the charging cable is small enough to carry around. Overall the laptop is great for basic school work and the display quality is good.

I love the design, light weight, options and versatility. I don't like the dearth of RAM or the upgradability. I wouldn't use this machine for multi-tasking, especially if you have an antivirus program installed. Good way to get started though if you're on a budget and want a new laptop! Doesn't come with a lot of bloatware, which really helps this PC as it's slower than molasses in winter when under a multi-tabbed software development / research workload.

I like this laptop except for needing to use Microsoft apps for everything. I had to disable the S drive to download Google Chrome and Zoom meetings. Then I had to download another anti virus after disabling the S drive. Once that was done I was able to move about the Web unrestricted. The battery is great and the laptop is light weight. I wish the charging cord was a bit longer, but it isn't bulky either. The microphone and camera is decent. I was also able to use my Lenovo speakers.

I love my lab top. It's extremely easy to use. I love the size, color, & software that is already embedded within the computer when it arrived. It has the latest software already stored in the computer. My camera is extremely clear which is something I was looking for, due to several zoom meetings that are taken place during this COVID crisis. I like everything about it and the price wasn't bad at all. I got it when it was on sale and i don't regret it!

This computer is fantastic when at a sale price, I would not pay full price for this machine, the screen is awesome, the speed is fast for web browsing and documents. I use Google Docs and the computer is fast for those things. You can turn off Windows S and activate full Windows 10 Home on this machine if you want. The computer will allow the installation of all Windows 10 software. I immediately downloaded and installed my favorite programs. Firefox, Chrome, all of them run great on this machine. I love the snow white color. Did I mention the screen is great. You should buy this on sale. Thank you Asus! Awesome machine and thank you always Best Buy!
