Great FPS, but at a cost.

The problem with this card other than the price tag is the coil whine and software. I spent hours trying to get the software to work in the first place and hours trying to get the coil whine to a reasonable place while still being an upgrade over a 3070. Unfortunately that couldnt happen so I took it back.

Absolutely, is it an amazing video card with great FPS.
We do understand your concern about the coil whine you are hearing. This high-pitched noise may not always be a GPU related issue. It is caused by the induction coils on the video card, power supply or the motherboard. If you are overclocking the GPU, try to disable overclocking or decrease the speed if the noise will go away. Coil whine will not damage the video card and doesn't affect performance. It is simply a vibration on the inductor while power passes through it. Our video card are designed with large inductors that will provide the needed power to the card overall. If this is coming from the video card, this noise will usually become quieter or will go away after using it for a while.

Swapping out back to 1080 Asus card, everything normal. But I can deal with issue and kepp card. Not a power issue, have 1000 watt premium power supply and using a msi Meg 570x ace motherboard. Maybe bios updates for cpu and or motherboard might fix annoying issue.

I was left with having to try someone new. After looking around I’ve decided to go with ASUS and I’m extremely happy with my purchase. So I think I’ll try out a few more products from them.

Tip, if you upgraded to this RTX 4080 and are not getting what you expect, you might need to do a CPU upgrade as well. CPUs can throttle the performance.
