The ASUS tech who supposedly "refurbished" this computer didn't do his job at all. He checked every box on the check sheet, saying he'd done everything, but that was a lie. He did nothing. The operating system was not installed at all. The Windows 7 'recovery' CD I used to install it myself was so wildly out of date (it must have been some early version, maybe a beta) it needed dozens upon dozens of updates before it would even make my monitor play in anything except 800x600 mode. There were numerous other problems related to recovering from this botched install, too extensive to add to this short review. Suffice it to say, if I was not pretty knowledgeable about computers, I could never have gotten this thing to work. There was no power cord. There was no mouse. There was even a CD of Vietnamese music left in the drive! Asus is obviously hiring some very irresponsible people to do their "refurbs." Although Best Buy tried to help me (gave me another mouse and power cord, offered an exchange after days of frustration, and gave some advice over the phone), I still wasted several working days getting this computer to work. The customer support from Asus was essentially nil and it took days to get a response from them Having said that, it is an amazingly low price for a quad core 8 GB system. But I will never trust Asus refurbs again.

I have to admit I was skeptical about the brand. But after hooking it up and start using it. I have to admit it, it is well worth the money. I use it for my home business so I am on it at least 10 hours a day. You can't hear it running and it comes on in no time, compared to my old computer which the neighbors can hear it and took like 5 minutes to come on.

This Asus is down right awesome. for what your getting, $450 is a DEAL! the computer is very fast, (38 second start up) and handles large programs (like CS5) easily. I have other Asus products too, and they are also great. In my book, Asus is the best. my only complaint is the CD drive came unplugged. (which is really no problem, just open the case, and plug it back in.)

Being that I live in a remote village on the Caribbean I do not have mail service or phone service. I had this computer shipped to friends who were driving down and brought it with them for me. It is a massive computer. It came with several programs loaded on it and I also loaded many programs, AOL, Yahoo messenger, DVD burning program, etc. Now I am having problems with Windows loading, it is telling me a hardware of software is corrupt. I have tried several times to uninstall and reinstall things but to no avail. I now plan on getting rid of everything and starting over, one program at a time to see if I can isolate the problem, at this point I am not sure if it is something I have downloaded or that came with the computer. My problem is I can not take it in for repair.

This computer is incredible for the price.... bought it then put in a $150 geforce 9800gt video card and it can play any game at full resolution.... strongly reccomend this computer!!!
