This machine does everything advertised. It is blindingly fast; I use it for musical composition and it flies through encoding and remastering; activities that used to take hours to complete are now done in minutes or less.
I LOVE this laptop! I'm not big on gaming, but it does that too, with style and panache.
My only two complaints are a VERY limited battery life and due to its shape, it is the furthest thing from ergonomic that I've ever worked with... but a wireless ergonomic mouse, touchpad, touch screen, etc. will make this amazing, versitile machine even more incredible.
Worth every cent.

The laptop is great but I felt it was a bit bulky. It also got quite hot on normal usage. The battery life was only about an hr and even less if you are a hardcore gamer. Its best if this is going to simply sit in one location but if you are going to do that, for the same price you can get a much better PC

No Blu-Ray only DVD/RW

I received my laptop yesterday and found out that it doesn't come with a blu-ray. Bestbuy customer service agree their website must be in error since the manufacturer own website list the item with a DVD/RW. I want to warn people who may be interested in the laptop. Once the website is updated I will revise my review but until then Im not a happy customer.

Only thing that I have found that I do not like about the computer is the speaker placement. Being behind the screen affects the quality. But is not that big of a deal overall.

Too expensive for what you get. It's a quick computer for sure and loved the layout. However, for the price they couldve thrown in a 980m....ended up returning and getting an alienware. Much better laptop than the asus

I loved this laptop for the short time I had it. I had a dead pixel and returned it to build a desktop. If you're looking for a "gaming" laptop this one is great if it works

I bought this laptop after purchasing a gaming desktop PC for the HTC Vive, this computer can and does run the HTC Vive with the graphics card supplied. A few games run a little jagged when turning your head in the VR but only with heavy duty graphics, other than that it runs great and best of all it's portable!!! I did buy the graphics card amplifier with a GTX1070 card but you can totally use the laptop alone. Awesome product! I simply love this laptop.

I purchase this computer in the store the sales clerk was great help me find deals that they would match on Amazon, TigerDirect, and Newegg I saved $400 working with Best Buy to purchase this. With his help I was able to get everything I wanted on my computer and then some. I was even able to purchase the protection plan.
The system I got it's fast and reliable I've had no problems with it and I would recommend it to anybody

I did an extensive amount of research before I purchased this laptop. I looked at comparable brands, systems and components. I was going to initially purchase the entry level version of this system; however this model (the "mid-level" model) was on sale the day of purchase and with just a few hundred dollars of aftermarket upgrades, I now have this machine maxed out at its top-tier level, for a greatly reduced price.
My sales associate was wonderful! He was very interested in my desire for such a beast of a machine as this. After I explained that I had little to no interest in the gaming functions of this laptop; although the enhanced graphics capabilities and sound processing would come in quite handy as I use this laptop for music composition and compilation for live DJ shows, as well as pre and post production of my studio work; he was very happy to help me find the options and components that were right for me and all at a very reasonable price. I did an extensive amount of shopping around and Best Buy's sales and price points were always spot on with other vendors best pricing, the total cost ended up being equal to (and slightly less than) the MSRP and cost from the manufacturer; besting their warranty (manufacturer warranty is ONE year vs. Geek Squad's THREE YEAR accidental/incidental damage and service coverage (sold separately)), total cost and shipping.
Right out of the box, this laptop has lightning fast processing power between the CPU, the GPU, the SSD and the 24gb of DDR4 RAM. By lightning fast, I mean FAST; after initial setup and configuration, my startup times are consistently 16 seconds or less. With its very easy and intuitive upgradeable components, I was able to max out the RAM, SSD and processing power; I now have startup times (from a cold boot) of less than TEN SECONDS!! I am also able to compile a large (100-500gb) continuous mix for a live show in less than a few minuets. I can compile individual songs (25-50mb in .mp3 format) in less than 30 seconds. MIDI, mashups, mixing (analog or digital), post production (filtering songs to eliminate clipping, mixed sound quality, volume changes between tracks, etc.) are done quickly and painlessly.
I'm not much of a gamer; however, I have no doubt that this machine will outperform any Alien Ware or other "gaming" laptops/computers. As a musician, I can easily attest to this laptop's abilities to outperform, outmaneuver, over-the-top racehorse capabilities over any other system available in the stores as of the time of this review. I would have zero reservations in recommending this laptop to gamers, musicians, CAD designers, programmers and the like; you truly cannot get a better machine than this! If this price point puts a pinch on your budget, this machine is easily and affordably upgradeable to its maximum possible capabilities and performance.
If I had any complaints or issues with this laptop (and they are very minor complaints), would be that the complaints on the touch pad are accurate; you should get a wireless trackball and/or mouse and disable the touchpad, as it is a little sticky and is quite easy to bump while typing and it is also simultaneously over and under sensitive, as it doesn't work the best for fine point accuracy; it is heavy (about 7lbs), so get a decent bag or carrying case for it; it's not the most ergonomic laptop in the world, the keyboard takes a little getting used to and the edges are SHARP! Making it quite easy to have sore wrists, if not at an ideal typing angle and the aforementioned touch pad issues; both were easily assuaged with a trackball and disabling the pad.
On a side note: in other reviews of this laptop, from the entry level all the way to the most expensive model, many people have complained about driver issues with the GPU, "Blue Screen of Windows' Death", etc. Please do NOT let those reviews scare you away from this laptop! ASUS has worked closely with Microsoft and after the first day of updates and out-of-the-box-tweaking, this laptop has performed at its peak running capabilities accurately and consistently, without fail or any of the other problems mentioned in other reviews; I have been assured by my sales rep, the Geek Squad, ASUS and Microsoft that any and all driver/performance issues have been dealt with and fixed accordingly.
Seriously, if you've taken the time to read this review and are in any way still on the fence about this purchase, you will not regret getting this laptop in any way other than it possibly being more machine than you bargained for. However, that being said, if you're in the market for a beast of a machine for any kind of high end gaming, music, graphics rendering/design, photo/film editing/production, etc. with the ability to upgrade and stay on the bleeding edge of technology for years to come, this is truly the laptop you've been dreaming of and looking for!
