Customers are delighted by the ROG Azoth X keyboard's solid build quality, vibrant RGB lighting, and responsive switch performance. The keyboard also boasts strong battery life and versatile connectivity options. Users appreciate the top-tier typing experience and the added functionality of the OLED display, while the only concern mentioned is the wrist rest's comfort due to its stiffness.

I did research on a lot of keyboards. I bought and traded over 5 just in the last 10 years. I like high end with a smaller profile, fast latency is a must. This keyboard was my final pick because of the battery life. With 50% keyboard and 50% OLED enabled I only need to charge this once a month with daily 6 hours of use. I combined this with the hyper x alpha wireless headphones, which can be on 300 hours total, and super light 2 for 90 hours. The less attention we have to spend on charging maintenance, the more attention we can devote to creating something awesome or having fun.

Wonderful Gaming Keyboard, 75% TKL is my favorite

Gaming Keyboards have become their own galaxy of tech and with all new rabbit holes, there is rapidly developing tech and competition from multiple vendors and enthusiasts demanding the latest and greatest. Asus, especially their ROG Republic of Gamers line-up, is eager to meet this demand. But you're reading a review for a $300 keyboard so you already know all of this.
The Azoth X might be 75% keyboard, but it is almost 100% perfect for me. I say almost because there are a few very MINOR things I might change and some I do have the option of changing due to the modularity and freedom to change the switches and key caps. Also, there's an Extreme version of this keyboard that takes care of my of complaints but the price is as its name implies, Extreme.
Here's what I loved about this keyboard:
1. 75% TKL is my absolute favorite keyboard configuration. If you need a Num pad, go and buy a BT numpad for the 10% of time you need it, otherwise save yourself the shoulder strain of having to hold your arms out wider between keyboard and mouse the other 90% of the time. I also like how Asus put some spacing between the arrow keys and the abbreviated ins/del/pgup/pgdn cluster while other keyboards in this range don't. I do wish they put a space between ESC and the F keys however, even if that meant taking away some of the OLED panel.
2. The ROG NX Snow v2 switches are amazing for anyone who likes fast, smooth, unobstructed action until your key bottoms out. Asus describes them as refined linear and I must agree I really enjoy them. They don't give you fatigue while typing and the key caps themselves feel extremely solid. There is virtually no wiggle or play on the switches or key caps themselves, which is a sign of cheaper caps and switches. The PCB is in an indented well and not flush to the face of the keyboard so keep that in mind if you eat near your keyboard. Gross imo but I know people do it and can't help themselves. Luckily you can remove the keycaps and switches for a deep cleaning, but somehow I don't think people who eat at their desks will do this much haha.
3. Amazing Battery Life. This Azoth X is an absolute revelation coming from my previous GMMK Pro 3 HE, which BARELY gets a full day of battery life working and playing. I am now going on a week with the Azoth X and honestly, I feel like it is still at 80%. It did take quite a while, 5-6 hours probably charging from 50% to 100% so this keyboard either has great battery capacity, or very low power draw combined with very slow charging. I'm betting its the former, because I am also using full backlighting at 75% brightness and the display is constantly running and cannot be dimmed. All in all, the battery life is VERY impressive for a keyboard that has so much lighting and a display, it slays the previous high price tag keyboard as I mentioned and it rivals some of the lower tech ones I've used in the past as I'll likely get a week of heavy use both working and playing BF6 on this keyboard with no sign of slowing down or running out of battery. Plugging in the USB-C cable overnight once a week should be enough to keep it topped off.
4. Awesome connectivity. This is mostly expected at this point, but you can switch between wireless RF via dongle, wired using usb-c and wireless with BT. This is incredibly useful for people who work from home like I do and want to connect to a different PC, like a work laptop, without swapping cables or without the need of a KVM.
5. OLED Display. I haven't had one of these since my original G15. Yeap IYKYK, but that OG of gaming keyboards cost me $80 back in the day and I thought that was a crazy high price. I haven't tried customizing this via software as I rarely do, but the side button changes modes between Volume, Multimedia, Lighting Brightness, OLED Brightness, and Lighting Effect. You can toggle up and down to cycle through the preset rough increments, or press the button to toggle 0% or 100% quickly. This works fine, but I kind of like the dedicated roller for volume, but this does work well for some of the advanced features like Lighting Brightness and Effect.
6. Attention to detail and extras. The USB dongle can hideaway right near the mode switcher into a little magnetized slot which is pretty slick if you travel or don't need to use RF, but don't want to lose the dongle). The silicone wrist rest is actually a super nice touch and very useful as well. Maybe a memory foam would've been even nicer but I do love this little detail without having to spend more money, and the fit and aesthetic perfectly match the keyboard of course so it looks super clean and refined. The keyboard also has compound risers on the back so you can change the tilt and height of the keyboard, there's a big riser and a half-step riser which is a great touch as I like an elevated keyboard but not the full height of the big legs.
7. The RGB and lighting through the translucent keycaps is beautiful. Again, I'm amazed at how they are able to be so bright and maintain wireless functionality over longer periods of time. If you want a keyboard that looks and performs awesome on battery, I don't think you will find a better keyboard other than its Extreme brother.
8. Uniform Swappable keys and caps. The uniformity of the keys and how they press, especially for the big keys like spacebar, enter, caps, shift, tab etc are something I always look to check out to show the quality of the switches but also the caps. The Azoth X passes in flying colors. I'll be honest and say I typically do not swap out switches and key caps, I just pick the ones I prefer, but you do have the option with the Azoth X.
As great as this keyboard is, there's some minor things I would point out that make it not quite perfect, if I was rating it, this would bring it down to maybe a 94/100 instead of a 100/100, but still amazing overall.
- Not Hall Effect switches. This was all the rage last year, and I probably don't really need or care for it as it can make key presses overly sensitive by changing actuation/registration point that needs to be calibrated via software. Overkill for most people and maybe why my last keyboard drained battery so fast?
- The key caps as amazing as they feel....are NOT illuminated on the top of the key. This is a REALLY odd choice to me but maybe something key cap enthusiasts understand or prefer. So when I see RGB lighting on a keyboard, I expect the letters on top to be etched and lit. I'm not a finger typer or a looker for the most part, but on occasion I do look for lesser used keys like ins/printscrn/del or the sub fn keys because mfgs all have their own take on what does what and where they put it. Also, these are "south facing" key caps which are solid on top and front, with the back 3 facets being translucent. Would it have been so hard to just make them fully translucent and maybe just paint the letters, or etch the letters through the white? bummer anyways, this is probably my biggest gripe but still a minor one that might be fixed with a set of replacement keys.
- The OLED display is black and white, so prominently claiming it is OLED is kind of odd. Very small and low-res graphics that are somewhat hard to make out especially on the left cluster, but still a neat feature, just executed not so well. I wasn't able to adjust the brightness but since it is B&W it likely doesn't use much power anyways, just wondering if burn-in will happen eventually.
- The finish is mostly plastic. It does not feel cheap in any way, but even the top plate is just painted steel and the rest is just really high quality plastic. Many enthusiasts have likely have had cheaper keyboards made of aluminum or similar. I think Asus spent most of their resources on the tech of this unit, if you want the premium materials for the body, you'll have to go Extreme.
- The keys are linear and have some dampening technology like Poron (they use this in shoes too!) and silicone pads but if you are a loud and forceful typer like me, you will still hear these. Not as loud as blues or even red/blacks of old, but they are louder than a lot of keyboards I have.
So there it is. Lots to read but there is a lot to like and some minor observations. This is probably my favorite keyboard now since it checks so many boxes for me. I am not sure which I will use for my daily driver anymore. I think my wife is eyeing this one since she is into the white aesthetic for her PC and she really loves the wrist rest and how clean it looks overall. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep her away from my Azoth X. $200 used to be a lot of money for a keyboard and now this is $300 which is definitely still a lot of money. Given the price of everything has gone up this shouldn't be a surprise, but then again, many of us remember a time we spent this much on a GPU or CPU, and certainly an entire gaming system.
If you're serious about gaming and typing, you likely won't care, and if you don't care, the Azoth X will have you happily ripping away.

A truly high-end gaming keyboard experience!

This keyboard is likely the best I have reviewed in its price range from a major brand gaming PC peripheral maker in many respects. Among them is the fact that I feel like there is no detail on this keyboard that “misses”. It feels like a custom keyboard, with all the tiny details that you would hope for, combined with the conveniences and compatibility of a bigger, brand-name maker.
The initial impression I got when unboxing this keyboard was being floored by how unique and outstanding this keyboard looks. It is like a mid-80s technology pipe dream meeting a Cyberpunk 2077 Gamer aesthetic. The three-sided translucent keys look stunning, even straight out of the box! Even more so when you plug it in, but more on that later in the review. The rest of the unboxing is excellent. I am grateful to see more PC peripheral companies reducing their reliance on plastic in packaging and instead exploring creative ways to protect accessories with additional cardboard and paper-based materials. This keyboard comes fully equipped with the full range of accessories I would expect at this flagship price-level keyboard. You receive the keyboard, a keyboard wrist rest, a USB cable, a USB dongle, a USB extender, a Switch puller, a keycap puller, and even some extra switches!
I will admit that I am no keyboard expert, but I have indeed reviewed many gaming keyboards, and I would love to share a few of the outstanding features of this keyboard design and build. First of all, this keyboard has a truly hefty weight, which speaks to its overall quality. The linear keyboard switches feel so amazing to type on and are already lubricated from the factory, so the typing experience feels outstanding whether writing or gaming. The sound is also really satisfying without having an over-the-top “clack” on the return of the key, as some linear switches will result in. As other reviewers have pointed out, when I use this keyboard wirelessly via the 2.4GHz USB-A dongle, I don't notice any latency at all.
I put this keyboard to the test against a few of my favorite games, including Doom Eternal, and I was not disappointed. This game is one of the most demanding FPS games I’ve played in terms of every key press needing to be precise and responsive, as I frantically maneuver the Doom Slayer around the killing arena like a death-guided ballistic missile. This is a game that I have reviewed keyboards for in the past, and I have easily been able to notice flaws, such as key presses being ignored by the keyboard or input lag so severe that movements or weapon actions occur at improper times. This keyboard performed exceptionally well, and I encountered no issues during several Horde mode arena clearings.
The RGB and Lighting of this keyboard are among my top 3 favorites I have seen on a keyboard to date. I love that the 3-sided clear keys allow for such a great RGB lighting profile to shine through without being overbearing or glaring right into your eyes from the desktop while gaming or typing. I also love that the OLED screen on the keyboard and handy 3-way knob allow you to scroll through color patterns and brightness on the fly. I have become more discerning as I have become more seasoned in my gaming life, and I really dislike having to install multiple software brands on my gaming PC to utilize their custom features. Thanks to the convenience built into this keyboard, I do not have to do that!
I am going to quickly go through a few things that I really like about this keyboard. The USB-A dongle has a storage spot on the keyboard, but unlike other flagship keyboards I have tested, this one is magnetized. The USB-A dongle snaps in with a very satisfying click, which reassures me that it won't come loose if I travel with this keyboard in a backpack or similar. I love the OLED screen and the information it gives. It is useful without being overbearing, and I have always enjoyed being able to control things like the volume from my keyboard easily without having to press an FN key first. The keycaps themselves feel sturdy and remind me, as I alluded to earlier, of the robust keyboards that were present on computers in the last decade of the 20th century, made of durable plastics that felt substantial as you pressed each key.
Overall, I am thrilled with this keyboard and still have much to explore in terms of creating on-the-fly macros and more! I would highly recommend giving this keyboard a shot, as it is one of the better ones I have ever reviewed in this price range.

Asus delivers a fantastic mechanical experience

I love mechanical keyboards. I've been using them for the past ten years and can't seem to bring myself to use anything else. 75% TKL isn't my favorite keyboard configuration. I use a numpad a lot and found myself missing it. I do have a Bluetooth numpad that I picked up for my laptop, and I can just pull it out when I need it, but it's missing the familiarity. This isn't a con, just not something I'm used to yet.
The linear snow (white) switches are excellent with very smooth action, but I'd prefer blue or browns. The ASUS website seems to indicate that a variety of switch types should be available, but I can only find these Snow switches for sale anywhere. Hopefully the others become available soon.
The key caps themselves have an excellent sort of soft-touch finish that just feels great to touch, and they're solidly set on the switches with very little play. They're perfectly spaced, in my opinion. Overall, the build quality is impressive, though it seems to be mostly plastic. The keyboard feels heavy and very solidly built in spite of that. There are a lot of nice touches, like the slot next to the mode switch for the dongle. It seems to be magnetic, and pulls the dongle into place, so you don't have to worry about it coming loose or falling out.
Battery life on this thing is incredible. I've been running it for two weeks without charging just to see how it goes, and it's still live. For the amount of light that this thing puts out, along with a display that's constantly running, it's wildly impressive. The lights themselves seem to be high quality, and put out excellent levels of color and brightness.
Right now I have the thing set up with a dongle plugged into my desktop, and paired via Bluetooth for my laptop, and switching between the two has been seamless so far. Just takes a couple of seconds to connect. I'll probably switch to wired at my desk to free up the dongle for another device, but I wanted to see how long the battery would last me.
The OLED display is black and white and simple in nature, but I suppose that's to help reduce it's draw on the battery. You can use the toggle switch and button next to it to control all the different functions of the keyboard.
All in all, this is easily one of the best keyboards I've ever owned, even with it not perfectly fitting my personal preferences. Asus has outdone themselves with the Azoth X, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a fast, smooth, responsive wireless keyboard.

I have almost always used full size keyboards with my desktop setup, so switching to 75% has taken some time to get used to. Now that I have, I quite enjoy it. The shorter travel between keys certainly doesn’t make me any better at Battlefield 6, but it does feel nice being able to keep my wrists stationary.
Unboxing the Asus ROG Azoth X keyboard is an experience. It’s wrapped up like a present and has some heft to it, which solidifies its premium feel. Setup is as easy as plug and play. The keyboard can be connected via Bluetooth, wireless dongle, or plugged straight into your rig with the included USB-C to USB-A cable. The versatility here is nice. Aside from the weight, you could potentially travel with this keyboard. The OLED display is small and black and white, but it does display system information in a nice and quick to reference way. For those that use the keyboard wirelessly, this is a great way to view relative battery life remaining. The three way knob on the side of the keyboard is also great as it allows you to quickly toggle between lighting effects, brightness, multimedia controls, and computer/speaker volume.
Of course the most notable trait and the reason for buying any mechanical keyboard is the switch feel. Asus describes the behavior of the white NX V2 switches as linear, and I think that’s extremely accurate. Unlike other mechanical keyboards/switches that I’ve used where more pressure is needed as you initiate a keystroke, the white NX V2 switches require the same pressure from start to when the switch bottoms out. For car folks out there, this keyboard is the equivalent of driving a car with a naturally aspirated engine vs one that is turbo or supercharged. It’s responsive, predictable, and quite enjoyable overall.
Is there anything not to like? My one complaint about this product has nothing to do with the keyboard itself, but rather the included silicone wrist rest. It’s extremely stiff and doesn’t feel all that amazing after hours of gaming. Maybe it will soften up with time, but I don’t think I'll be using it enough to ever find out.
In total, I really like the Asus ROG Azoth X keyboard as it rounds out my gaming rig setup quite nicely. Turns out a 75% keyboard is 100% all I need.

INITIAL SET-UP & CONFIGURATION
The ROG Azoth X is configured and managed via the Asus Armory Crate software. Anyone that has purchased an Asus product is probably already familiar with the Armory Crate software. After tying keyboards from nearly EVERY gaming manufacturer, Armory Crate has reached the bottom of my list when it comes to configuration software. It is overly complicated and really not that intuitive. Objects and settings are hidden and buried in sub-menus, making quick configuration changes difficult. If I were solely invested in the ROG infrastructure, I may feel differently, but swapping between manufacturers gives me the opportunity to sample software from nearly everyone in the market, and the Asus Armory Crate is now my least favorite and least intuitive.
To make things easier, Asus has attempted to make the Azoth easier to configure with their new Gear Link URL. During product set-up, the Armory Crate software will allow the option to send the buyer a URL that allows them to configure the keyboard via the web, without installing additional software. It is a novel concept, but falls short in final execution. It is often slow to respond and laggy with anything less than a pristine high-speed connection to the internet. I needed multiple attempts to get settings to take and stay.
A third issue I've encountered with Armory Crate are extensive updates needed even after going to the Azoth website and downloading the latest software. Extra modules still need added to make the software functional with the keyboard. When it finally received all its updates, Armory Crate struggled to update the Azoth. It took a total of 5 attempts, including a keyboard reboot and a computer reboot to finally get the latest firmware to install. This is not a common practice with Asus software. I'm not sure why they are struggling now with the Azoth. I expect more Asus.
USE
I've been using a 65% keyboard from another manufacturer as my go-to gaming keyboard for some time. The mechanical keys are very nice, but at 65%, it often feels almost too small as a daily driver. The new 75% design of the Azoth strikes a perfect balance for me. Just big enough to keep from feeling cramped like my 65% keyboard does at times, and still compact enough to not require a lot of real estate.
Asus' new mechanical keys are nothing short of top-notch. A smooth, swanky, mechanical precision that is nicely muted, removing the often obnoxious click of mechanical keys. While I like the clicky keys, there is something to be said for muting them. If I wasn't the one using a clicky-style keyboard, I would be annoyed listening to it all day. The keys of the Azoth X have silicone mount and five layers of dampening (according to Asus' website). The dampening system works amazingly well. Just enough mechanical feel to remain satisfying with enough dampening to not be a total distraction. Comparing this back-to-back with my 65% keyboard, the difference is remarkable. The Azoth is a much more satisfying typing experience. Unlike my premium 65% keyboard, the Azoth's keys are more linear with less play. Firm with no slack. This is the most premium feeling keyboard I've used to date.
Like my 65% keyboard, the Azoth also includes an OLED screen. Unlike my 65% keyboard, the Azoth has never failed to report system information. Customizable from 4 different categories, the OLED display can be configured to display a variety of information, play animations, or turned off if you so desire. I find it extremely useful to track system vitals during gaming. It can report back CPU/GPU utilization, temperatures, frequency, etc. It will also report back connection methods and battery information. While definitely not a necessity in a keyboard, the OLED display is a nice touch.
BATTERY LIFE
Battery life has been outstanding. Even with the RGB backlighting and OLED on, I've gotten several days of use out of the battery. Way more battery life than my current 65% keyboard offers. On the negative side, my 65% keyboard will charge up from 20% to 100% in a matter of minutes. The Azoth took several hours to charge from the supplied 55% to 100%. At first I thought there was a compatibility issue with the charger I was using. Nope. I tried 3 different chargers, from 3 different manufacturers and they all charged the Azoth at approximately the same rate. Don't expect to give the Azoth a quick zap and get hours of use. Isn't going to happen. On the other hand, battery life is impressively long compared to the competition.
DISLIKES
As mentioned before, I'm no longer a fan of the Armory Crate software. Compared to the rest of the players on the market, it is the least intuitive and most cumbersome to use and learn. It took two attempts to get the Armory Crate to install on two different PC's, and again, it took 5 attempts to update the keyboard firmware.
I am also not a fan of Asus' new dye-sublimated, 3-sided translucent keys. It has nothing to do with the graphics. It is the fact that while the sides of the keys are translucent, the tops are not. Because of this, the lettering on the keycaps are not illuminated. This is a huge miss for me. While you can make out the lettering with the backlighting turned up, it disappears when the backlighting is dimmed too low or turned off. Dimly lit rooms can make reading the keys challenging.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The new Azoth V2 is an outstanding product. Easily the best mechanical keyboard I've used to date. I've been lucky enough to test keyboards from nearly every manufacturer and to date, the Azoth is at the top of the list. The keys are crisp, firm, and precise. There is a tremendous heft to the keyboard that makes it gives it a premium feel. Battery life is outstanding, but charging times are brutally slow.
The only thing holding the Azoth back from getting a 5-star review are the difficulties experienced getting Armory Crate to install correctly and the firmware to update properly. Maybe now that the firmware has been updated from the factory, this would be smoother if I attempted installing again. If you are willing to suffer through the initial set-up issues, buyers will be rewarded with a very nice, premium keyboard.

I received the ASUS ROG Azoth X to try out from Best Buy and after spending a couple days with it, this is easily one of the nicest keyboards I’ve used. It feels incredibly solid and premium the second you pick it up, with a sturdy metal frame and a clean, compact 75% design that still leaves room for everything I need. The typing experience is top-tier. Typing long notes or just quick bursts all feels great. The switches are smooth, consistent, and have a great sound and feel whether I’m writing or gaming.
What gave the whole thing an extra sense of style was the RGB lighting options. It’s vibrant and fully customizable, giving it that signature ROG style without being over the top. The built-in OLED display takes things even further. it’s fun and surprisingly practical for adjusting volume or checking settings at a glance.
Usability is has also been good, battery life has been strong, and the wireless connection is flawless.
Pros:
• Excellent build quality and feel
• Compact yet functional layout
• Smooth switches and great lighting
• OLED display adds flair and utility
Cons:
• Premium price, but worth it for the quality

This is a unique gaming keyboard by Asus, while there is a couple of different renditions of the Azoth keyboard out there already, this one is probably the one you would want between them all for all the extra bells and whistles as it were.
The Azoth X features removable Rox NX V2 (refined) Snow Switches that feel really good when typing, they have positioned them just right (for my hands anyways) that I enjoy using this keyboard for extended periods of time. Not to mention you can't have a mech keyboard without the sweet sound of the clickity-clack when typing, and this one will not let you down there.
The keys feature South--facing RGBs, 1000 Hz Polling Rate (extendable to 8000 with the booster), and 5 available onboard profiles, the keyboard also has 3 different tilt angles that let you get it positioned just right.
While it does also include a wrist rest, I more preferred using it without, mostly due to the extra room that it takes up and i like to have my keyboard at the edge of the desk when i'm gaming.
Pros:
Hot swappable ROG NX V2 Mechanical SNOW switches
USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1 (up to 3 devices simultaneously), ROG SpeedNova 2.4Ghz Wireless
OLED display (customizable - custom animations, and or computer stats (cpu gpu perfomance etc))
Speed Tap Mode (while probably not recommended for Battlefield 6) there are some unique features of this keyboard.
All keys are programmable, and prelubed for perfect keypresses.
Included wrist rest, keycap & switch puller tool, extra key, 6' braided usb-c cable, usb dongle, usb extender.
Cons:
About the only thing I didn't personally enjoy on this keyboard would probably be the wrist rest,
while functional, it has a pretty hard/stiff rubber feel, i really don't think i will ever use it.
Overall this is a great keyboard, the customizable animations OLED is fun to have on a keyboard, the keyboard itself has some of the best key presses i have felt, fluid and super smooth, you can really tell the switches are the selling point on this keyboard. If you have used the prior Azoth gaming keyboard you already know how good the switches can be from Asus. I would have to say this keyboard is worth a shot, if you are in the market for a unique gaming keyboard with hotswappable keys/switches; especially if Asus is your ecosystem of choice, you will probably want this one in your arsenal, it works well with Aura sync and carries the ROG branding and rgb goodness.

Great solid build keyboard!

Ok lets start out with the simple thing. If your looking for a solid keyboard that has a nice typing feel then this might be a good choice. If you like linear switches then this keyboard is actually pretty good compared to some others I have tried. I like that the keys need a bit more force than some other linear key switches so I don’t feel like I’m going to accidently press keys like on some “Rapid style” keys.
The overall build quality of this keyboard is super solid, the board has a decently heavy weight to it so it does not feel like I’m going to push it around my desk while trying to type and all of the keys and buttons feel fairly solid to the touch. So nothing that feels like it might break if I press on it too hard.
For configuration there is a web based application that can be used and for the most part I did not have any problems using that to set up things like backlighting configurations or even changing key mappings for specific keys if you want to. I do think however if you want “Full Feature Support” such as being able to load your own images on the oled you might have to use the desktop armoury crate software. I did not install that software so the oled image options seemed to be limited to pre included set. One other thing I noticed with the web based tool was that when I tried to check for updates of the firmware it would always just say my keyboard was disconnected even though I had just been modifying settings in a different section of the configuration app a moment before. I’m not sure if that’s just because there are no updates available or if it’s some sort of bug in the current version of the tool.
Otherwise, I’ve not had any issues with the keyboard or its software. The wireless dongle “Just works” with no fuss, the wired mode works well and even Bluetooth was super simple to connect and use.
One other note that I thought was really cool was the way the keycaps are translucent on the backs, so it helps the led illumination feel bright but not necessarily blind you with light leaking from the front. It’s not something I’ve seen done on any other board I have used up to this point and I’m a big fan of the way it looks.

The Asus ROG is the perfect addition for anyone looking to add to their rig build. Out of the box everything about this product screams quality all the way down from the way its packaged to how smooth each and every key stroke feels. Rather or not this is the right fit for you all depends on rather or not you care about aesthetics.
So what really sets this apart from other gaming key boards? Quite honestly in my opinion its quality, functionality and looks. This is a very well put together beautiful keyboard that is sure to please anyone. But looks is just a part of it, this keyboard has some serious weight to it and each key stroke feels solid with little to no slack in regards to key placement. Each stroke is very responsive and has no input lag when in wireless mode. You have three ways to connect, wireless (via the provided dongle), bluetooth or direct usb-c wired connection. Wireless connection so far has yielded me about 30 hours of run time before needing a recharge. Key bindings and settings can be done via their free software however this keyboard has very nice OLED screen in the upper right corner that gives you quick access to the most used settings. For example if you press in on the side button you can scroll through settings such as volume control, rgb lighting effects, oled lighting, key lighting and multi-media settings that allow you to skip to the next song or Youtube video. A nice pre-installed feature is the built in sleep mode. If your gaming and decide to use a controller after about a couple minutes of dead time the keyboard will go in to sleep mode which helps wireless mode extend battery life. The feel of the keys gives you a mechanical feel however the noise that is generally associated with mechanical keys is alot quieter on this set up. So if you have a wife like mine who hates how loud mechanical keys are this set up will definitely be quieter and should please those that get annoyed by loud key strokes. Do you get an optional arm rest as well as a key puller a few key change outs.
Here's the bottom line. This is a ROG item and i have never personally known them to build anything less than quality. If you are looking for a beautifully well put together keyboard that wont leave you hanging in wireless mode both in the battery department and input reaction time then this is a must have. I honestly only have one complaint and that is in regards to the lighting. The actual backdrop of the keyboard lights up and not the keys. What does this mean to you? Well what it means is that if your gaming at night and your not familiar with key positioning your gonna have a hard time finding your letters. Simply put, the letters and numbers themselves do not light up. So if you are trying to find the 'WASD' keys and its dark in your room you will struggle to see them. Other than that this is 100% my new gaming keyboard. A new king has taken over my current set up.

I’ve had this keyboard for about a week now, and I really like it so far. The aesthetics are absolutely stunning. This keyboard stands out on any desk setup. The bright white frame with select dark keys looks incredible. It came with a bold red ROG ESC key, but there’s no way I’m replacing the supplied black Escape key. It looks too good.
The size is perfect. I’ve brought it to the office a few times and it fits easily in my backpack. The keycaps are snug and secure, and I haven’t had any pop off during travel. The ASUS Armoury Crate app lets you create multiple custom profiles, and I’ve already set up three of the five available slots. I have one for gaming, one for work, and one for general use like writing reviews, browsing, or streaming movies. The app also lets you customize lighting, hotkeys, the control knob, OLED screen, power options, and Gear Link setup.
The OLED screen is awesome. There are several ROG-themed animations, but I chose a cityscape with fireworks. It looks amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever used a keyboard with this much customization. I even synced the colors to my monitor using ASUS Aura Wallpaper and my G16CH tower. It looks incredible together.
The keycaps are unique. They’re dye-sublimated and translucent on three sides, which allows the LEDs to glow through the back and sides but not the front. It creates a floating key effect that looks beautiful. The control knob is a nice touch and can be programmed for several functions.
Typing and gaming feel buttery smooth. The slightly rounded key edges and ROG NX Snow linear switches make every press satisfying. The sound is pleasant and not too loud. You can still tell it’s a mechanical keyboard, but it’s not overly clicky or distracting. The spacebar presses evenly across its entire length, even if you hit it on the edge. The switches are fast and responsive. I’ve been grinding Battlefield 6 and this keyboard performs flawlessly.
The wrist rest is better than I expected. It’s made of silicone, not soft like foam or hard like plastic, but it has a smooth silky feel that keeps my hands comfortable. I’ve used the keyboard both wired and wireless with the dongle, and I haven’t noticed any latency at all.
The construction feels premium. The aluminum body has a clean white painted finish, the dampening works great, and it stays firmly in place on the desk without being overly heavy. The LEDs are bright, the build quality is excellent, and there are so many customization options to explore.
Overall, this is a fantastic mechanical keyboard. It’s solid, beautiful, and packed with features. Another amazing addition to the ROG lineup. Highly recommend.

A true beast of a keyboard!

Not completely related to the keyboard, but I must mention — Asus has the best packaging when it comes to their products.
The first impression when I lifted the box was, wow, this is heavy. Once I got it into my hands, it felt perfect. Perfect! Great tactile keys, aesthetically pleasing, and it fit right into the system with little need for configuration.
All three connection modes worked flawlessly. Bluetooth had no issues picking up right away. The cable connection was, of course, fine, and the Omni dongle synced instantly. The only issue I had was with the actual Armoury Crate software. For some reason, with this model — the X — the configuration software opens in a browser window instead of as an installed app. I'm assuming this will be integrated later, but it’s worth mentioning.
Once I was in the software, I had complete control to modify the lighting, LCD, and various button functions to tailor everything to my liking.
For reference, this keyboard completes my living room setup. I have a dedicated system connected to my television, and before this, I used a really long USB-C cable with a hub running one of my favorite keyboards. I went through the trouble because that keyboard had the perfect weight and feel for my setup. The Azoth X easily replaces it so I can ditch the hub — and it fits perfectly into my gameplay setup.
As for functionality, absolutely no complaints — this is a premium keyboard from the first click on. I prefer the 2.4 GHz connection, and I noticed zero lag between key presses. The keyboard powers on and off perfectly with the system and simply works — and feels — great.
Speaking of which, all the materials on the X feel premium. Nothing feels cheap, even down to the pre-packaged USB-C cable included in the box. This is a well-thought-out, well-functioning product designed to take up less space while providing full functionality.
One small gripe is the wrist support. It’s a solid rubber strip that rests next to the keyboard but doesn’t connect to it. Since it has a good weight, it doesn’t move much, but I do wish it connected either magnetically or through some kind of hook-and-lock system. So far, though, I’ve had no issues with it shifting out of place since it grips well.
Other than that, I have no complaints — only praise. The keyboard is packaged with multiple accessories, including a key puller, extra keys, a dongle extender, and plenty of Asus-related stickers and materials to decorate your rig or setup.
In summary, this is a premium keyboard that feels premium and performs excellently. It has all the bells and whistles to maximize lighting control and customize the LCD screen to your favorite functions. It’s quite a beast!

My new favorite keyboard

I think I found my latest favorite gaming keyboard. The Asus Azoth. When I took it out of the box, first thing I noticed is how much heavier it felt. It feels like a solid keyboard. The size is similar to many other 75% keyboards. The OLED screen displays many different graphics. I think it is a good resolution for what it displays. It displays the type of connection it is currently using. It supports USB, Bluetooth, and comes with a USB wireless dongle.
The color of the keyboard and its accessories match up. The USB cable is not only braided but matching silver. The USB dongle has an extension just in case you need it. The RGB lights are bright. The drawings on the keys are a nice touch and go well with the theme.
The key switches are called ROG NX Snow. I am used to the clacky keys. These, however, feel a little bit softer. It still has the clacky sound but slightly softer. You can replace the keycaps. It comes with an extra CTRL key but in all black. It also comes with 3 additional switches. The tool to remove the keycaps is cool too. It has ROG logos on it. It feels very responsive.
The volume control is not a dial, but rather a lever you can move up or down. The side is a button that cycles through different options to control like volume, light brightness, OLED brightness, and lighting effects.
You use the Asus Armoury Crate software to customize the keyboard. You can change the OLED display animation. You can even use your own. There are different RGB color patterns. One pattern that is new to me is the raindrop. From top to bottom, the lights will drop light raindrops. Most keys will have no light except the path of the raindrop light.
The two biggest surprises with this keyboard to me are
It came with a wrist rest. Many of the 75% gaming keyboards I have tried do not come with one. This one does.
Not only can you adjust the feet to make it more comfortable to use, but it has two different heights.
The keyboard feels solid and nice to type on. I like the styling and how everything matches. My motherboard is also Asus ROG and love how it uses the Armoury for software. I do not need to use anything else. I really like this keyboard.

Do any of us truly “need” a $300 gaming keyboard? Unlikely, BUT when you get your hands on something unique, customizable, and different, the question then becomes, do any of us “want” a $300 keyboard. Answer is a resounding yes.
Unboxing this is a treat, it oozes uber premium through-and-through. The heft and 2+ pound weight feels solid, and the size is far more manageable that a full-sized keyboard if you don’t need the numeric keypad (and if you do, it’s inexpensive to add one).
Connection was as easy as flipping the power toggle switch, my Dell Latitude instantly recognized, asked to pair and voila, easy peasy.
Using on MacOS Tahoe took a little bit more effort. Firstly the keyboard has tri-mode connections, Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz WiFi and Wired USB-C, but also allows 3 remembered configurations, switchable via FN+7 key for 3 seconds, FN+8 and FN+9 to fast switch between computers or devices.
I was unable to get this functionality working smoothly, so instead of adding the Mac Mini to slot FN+8, I had to UN-pair from the Dell Windows machine, and then create a fresh BT pair on Mac Tahoe. I did note one idiosyncrasies however, that being the first continuous week on Mac the ROG worked flawlessly, day in day out all week long.
We went away for the weekend and upon return to this keyboard Monday am, I could not get it to register a keystroke to unlock (absent Apple Watch). Mac BT keyboard settings still show connected, but I can’t get a letter to register. Turned keyboard off 30-60 seconds, and back on to no avail. I will continue to explore why this is so. Hopefully I don’t have to “forget device” and then re-pair from scratch but will do so if need be bc I really like the look and feel of this premium hefty keyboard, and it is so refreshing to have very good key travel with a cushiony landing compared to apples mini keyboard that feels like typing on a table with minimal tactile feedback.
If you’re a competitive FPS gamer I suggest lower-latency mode via hard-wired USB-C mode, but for general usage standard bluetooth connection or 2.4 GHz works beautifully, with outstanding battery life. .
My few complaints aren’t even that, just niggles when deciding between this and the Extreme version at $399. The main temptation on the $100 more premium is all aluminum build, color OLED and a gasket paddle toggle to switch between Hard and Soft acoustical clicks. Hard-core Typing enthusiasts and writing professional who truly value their primary input medium to communicate may wish for the Extreme, but since I am neither of those for me this fits the bill.
Color Modes:
@color cycle
@ripple
@breathing
@static
@rain drop
@current
@quicksand
@starry night
@reactive
Pros:
+retro c00l
+customizable
+enthusiast grade
+OLED mono screen
+excellent battery life
+top-notch packaging
+magnetic USB dongle
+SpeedNova fast response
+pleasant cushiony typing
+oozes uber premium traits
+tri-mode bt, 2.4, USB-C
+Omni rcv FN 7/8/9 to cycle
+hot-swappable switches
Cons:
-price premium
-mono OLeD only
-no gasket paddle
-slow charge to full time
-some keys are hard to read
-Armoury Crate software needs work
-experienced disconnect issue (MacOS)
Conclusion:
Depending on your needs, or wants, this ROG Azoth-X is designed for gaming and typing enthusiasts alike who value the mechanical feel and response speed. Key travel is nearly optimal, and visually this keyboard is stunning. Most impressive to me is the claimed 1600 hour battery life is supported by a quality built premium keyboard, but the Extreme w color OLED and paddle gasket switch is worth consideration as well

Can't go wrong with Asus: great comfy keyboard

The Asus ROG Azoth X gaming keyboard checks most boxes of a portable gaming keyboard. The previous Azoth gaming keyboard has earned several notable awards, and the Azoth X continues this legacy. As a fan of portable gaming keyboards, I consider the Asus Azoth X a top choice.
Design and build quality
To be fair, the mostly white color scheme nuanced with black and some red keys are probably going to take you to either love it or hate it. I find the design to be acceptable as I would prefer single color scheme either all white or black keyboard. If I desire a colorful keyboard, I will customize the lighting settings to suit my preferences. I find the color scheme still visually appealing, although it has a pronounced gaming-oriented style. It is a gaming keyboard after all.
Like typical Asus products out there, the build quality is great, and the whole package screams quality. The palm-rest is made of high-quality thick molded plastic gel and yet it feels solid and effective in absorbing the pressure of my palm.
The OLED display is bright and there are a rocker key and an alternating button to change volume, keyboard lighting scheme, among others. The display features several basic information and animated ROG logo. I like the OLED display a lot. It’s both functional and well-deserving my RTX 5080 setup.
Lastly, the keyboard is highly portable, and easy to switch between different devices.
Setup software
There’s a web-based setup software ‘Gearlink’ to further customize the keyboard. The level of customization is not as great as Asus’ competitors, but for most gamers I don’t think it really matters thanks to its great out-of-the box performance. In addition to key customization, the software lets you switch the OLED display to visualize a different preset animation.
Connectivity
This keyboard wins in this area. It supports both Windows and Mac. There are both wired and wireless connectivity, the latter supports both Bluetooth and wireless radio with dongle.
Gaming
I played Helldivers 2 and the results are great. Keystrokes are responsive. The ergonomic palm rest makes long and sustained gaming session comfortable. I have more than a few gaming keyboards, but the Asus Azoth X is now my preferred one for gaming with its great out of the box performance and high comfortability factor.
Typing
It's an excellent experience. Keypresses are accurate and responsive for fast typing. Because of its ergonomic design, this keyboard is great for regular typing tasks.
Conclusion
Asus has made many things right with this keyboard from the build quality, excellent palm rest, great gaming and typing performance, attractive OLED display, etc. More importantly, the Azoth X is a great and comfortable keyboard for both gaming and typing. The color scheme is very gaming looking but it is a gaming keyboard after all.

Premium, High-Performance, Sleek Gaming Keyboard

Hands down! This is the best gaming keyboard I’ve used in a long time. I noticed how premium this keyboard is the moment I unboxed it. The packaging is well-thought-out designed. Each part inside is securely placed in its own labeled compartment. It is obvious that ASUS paid attention to those small details which reflect its commitment to excellence. This wireless ROG Azoth X is 75% wireless mechanical keyboard; I like how it blends sporty aesthetics and high-performance. Its compact size fits my rig and keyboard tray perfectly. I plugged it in and left it to charge overnight. Setup and customization were done using ASUS Armoury Crate software. While customizing it, I was impressed by its sleek and premium design, keys are translucent, allowing the RGB lighting to shine through. There was an update that I immediately applied to it. I liked everything about this keyboard, but the most attractive feature is the OLED display and multifunction knob which controls brightness, volume, and media playback, etc. The OLED display responds quickly and displays the changes made by the multifunctional knob. The hot-swappable switches feel smooth and soft making my typing experience satisfying. The build quality is top-notch, and the battery life is impressive, despite leaving RGB on and have been using for the last 5 days. The connection versatility using USB-C, Bluetooth, or 2.4 GHz wireless added convenience to it. I truly appreciate everything about this keyboard. It offers premium build, great performance, comfortable typing feel, versatile connectivity, and weighted to stay put and does not move around. The included thick, padded silicone wrist rest is comfy and blends great with the keyboard giving it a sleek look. In addition, the USB adapter has an onboard compartment to store which is a thoughtful and practical touch.

Entry Into Customization

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The version of the ROG Azoth X that I own has the linear ROG NX Snow V2 mechanical linear switches with 40 grams of actuation force are both satisfying in click actuation sound; it is a little on the louder side with respect to other gaming keyboards I own, but it is extremely satisfying alongside with the each key’s feel. I find myself wanting to switch to this keyboard when using productivity apps, but the switches are a bit on the sensitive trigger side and my heavy fingers tend to add unintended inputs. This is definitely a gaming-first keyboard, and it has been very good thus far.
Appearance-wise, the Azoth X….is a very, very unique looking keyboard with a mix of white, black and red colors. And where it does have that cool factor is its translucent keys When the RGB is lit, the colors come through the translucent areas and really gives the keyboard that illuminated look. The RGB itself isn’t that bright, but the amount of light overall does give the impression that it is. Each keycap is dye-sublimated for both long-term print durability and signature ROG themed look.
This keyboard can be connected to your PC via USB2.0 cable, Bluetooth 5.1 or the supplied 2.4GHz dongle, giving a user the ultimate flexibility based on your setup. Asus calls it their Tri-mode connection in which you can connect to three different devices at once. A huge number that they tout is the ability for this keyboard to go over 2000 hours wireless with their ROG SpeedNova technology. Obviously this is possible when you turn off RGB and its OLED display…more on that.
The unique feature on this keyboard is its OLED display to allow you to change settings straight from the keyboard, including lighting effects, OLED brightness and the obvious volume and track next/previous. With Armoury Crate installed you’ll be able to customize the display to showcase your own JPEG or GIFs, showcase music info or display an audio spectrum, or show CPU/GPU frequencies or temperatures, which is my favorite of the three. Armoury Crate is not required but a must for this customizability, but most importantly for keeping your Azoth up-to-date with the latest firmware.
The Azoth X offers a feature called Speed Tap, only activated through Armoury Crate. When activated, Speed Tap mode prioritizes the latest input and automatically releases the previous one when two keys are pressed. This means that in FPS games, pressing two opposing directional keys (e.g., A and D) will no longer cause the in-game character to stop moving. Instead, directional changes can now be made immediately without having to release the previous key, eliminating any time gap for counter-strafing and ensuring precise aim every time. In Armoury Crate, A and D are binded keys by default, but you can assign an additional four bindings. As mentioned above, Speed Tap is off by default.
So the big sell here is the hot-swappable switches but feel that this feature has been overshadowed by those keyboards with adjustable actuation points. But from a servicing point of view, it is nice to know that I can replace switches when they start to fail. This contributes to the longevity of this keyboard and can be looked at as a long term investment. From a true customization perspective, I can see the appeal to swap switches for particular keys that can give you that advantageous edge during a gaming session. As far as stats, this keyboard polls at 1000Hz, which is very good for gaming applications. There is a lot of press about keyboards that go beyond this, up to 8000Hz, but there is really no clear advantage of moving up the polling rate past 1000Hz even for the best of gamers.

Bottom Line Up Front
The ROG Azoth X is a 75% wireless gaming keyboard that nails premium feel and thoughtful extras. It blends solid build materials, excellent typing acoustics, and clever travel-friendly details into a compact, customizable package. If you want a small board that feels expensive and works well both at home and on the go, this is a strong contender.
Build and feel
- Materials: Metal top cover, FR4 positioning plate, silicone gasket mount, and five-layer dampening come together for a pleasantly cushioned, supremely stable typing experience. The FR4 plate gives a bit more flex than aluminum, producing bright, gentle acoustics that are refined rather than clangy.
- Switches & keycaps: Hot-swappable, pre-lubed ROG NX V2 switches deliver consistent, responsive actuation out of the box. Three-sided translucent, dye-sublimated keycaps let RGB glow through beautifully while staying durable and readable.
- Ergonomics: Compound risers (full riser + half-step riser) allow fine control of tilt and height—great for someone who wants a slightly elevated angle without jumping to the tallest setting.
Thoughtful extras and travel features
- USB dongle storage: The magnetized slot near the mode switch is a slick, travel-minded touch. It keeps the dongle safe and out of the way when you’re using Bluetooth or just prefer not to use RF.
- Wrist rest: The silicone wrist rest is surprisingly nice—comfortable, firm, and perfectly matched to the keyboard’s aesthetic. Memory foam might have been softer, but this silicone option balances comfort, durability, and cost while keeping the overall look seamless.
- OLED & controls: The OLED gives useful system info and settings feedback; the three-way knob feels intuitive for volume, lighting, or other mappings.
- Battery life: With a mixed usage scenario (50% keyboard OLED on, 50% on wireless), expect about once-a-month charging with 6 hours of daily use—very convenient for most users.
What I liked most
- Attention to small design details that matter in real life (magnetic dongle slot, wrist rest matching the board).
- Typing feel that’s both cushioned and refined, thanks to gasket mount, FR4 plate, and multi-layer dampening.
- Flexibility: hot-swap switches, south-facing PCB for keycap compatibility, and adjustable risers tick all the customization boxes without needing immediate mods.
Minor things
- The silicone wrist rest is excellent but a memory foam option would offer a plusher feel for those who prefer softer support.
- If you heavily rely on OLED features, that will shave battery life more than typical use—worth noting for power-conscious users.
- The board sits at a premium level; users who don’t value the build materials or OLED may find it harder to justify the cost.
Verdict
ROG Azoth X is a well-executed 75% keyboard for gamers and enthusiasts who want premium materials, great out-of-the-box typing, and practical travel features. The magnetic dongle slot and matching silicone wrist rest show attention to real-world use, while the gasket mount, FR4 plate, and pre-lubed NX V2 switches deliver a refined typing experience. Recommend for anyone who wants a compact, customizable keyboard that looks and feels like a higher-end desktop staple.
