Customers have good things to say about the ROG G531GT's performance, graphics capabilities, and value for the price. Many appreciate its sturdy build quality and high frames per second in games. However, some users have reported issues with the keyboard, lack of a webcam, and shorter than expected battery life. The laptop's tendency to overheat and generate fan noise also received some negative feedback.

Got this for my son for a graduation present. These specs are capable of playing any game he wants, and the price was better than any other comparable options I could find. So far it's been a great machine.

This laptop is powerful, but I had one problem

I only had one issue with this laptop. I returned the first one because I thought I had a bad sound card. The same issue happened with the second (current) laptop. Sound in SteamVR and Mixed Reality was badly distorted. The problem wound up being the USB ports are under powered for the VR headset. I never would have figured it out if I hadn't searched for people with the same problem. I solved the problem with a powered USB 3.0 hub. I plug the headset into the hub, instead of directly to the laptop. Without this issue I'd give it all 5 stars.
I'd would recommend this laptop for mixed reality, just keep in mind you need a powered USB hub, or a powered dock to plug the headset into.

I have had this laptop for a little over a month and it is the best laptop I have ever owned. It did not come with bloat-ware. ASUS provided the cable to expand the storage, so I bought an additional 512GB SSD and installed it for game storage. 8GB of RAM is plenty thanks to the internal SSD being so fast. With all my games and software installed, the laptop only takes 10 seconds to boot to login and 10 seconds to shutdown. I can't stop telling people about this laptop.

The best things about this laptop are the processor and price if you can get it on sale.
The GPU is good but not the greatest if you are a hard core gamer.
The memory size is adequate but you can add more yourself.
But it is missing some features you might expect in in this price range:
the camera, a slot for a flash card and a USB C connector that is becoming more popular these days.
Overall a good deal, but check if you can leave without the features I mentioned above.

I bought this laptop to run software like solidworks and autodesk for my engineering classes, as well as playing games every now and then. My first impressions were that the keyboard feels great, much better than the typical laptops that I’ve used before. The laptop is also great at cooling, with the turbo fan mode the computer barely heats up with playing games like CSGO (which it also gets a solid 230 frames on before any overclocking). Overall the laptop is very snappy, both in game and while running processor intensive 3D modeling

This is a fast and light laptop for gamers. The only thing that is kind of annoying is the fan noise, but it isn’t a huge deal.

I got this computer to replace my Dell laptop after 5 years. It's extremely fast and I love the colored keyboard. Only bad thing, it doesn't come with a webcam.

Blue screen at day 1

I'm writing this at day 3 of the laptop. It was great at first use but after windows auto updated, I got blue screen because of gpu failure. I thought I have to go back to Best Buy to return it but I managed to fix it by uninstalling all gpu drivers and reinstalling them. So far everything is good but I'm seeing it jitters sometimes that it bothers me, I still have a window to test it and watch for other failures, hopefully everything works out right as I'm seeing other reviews with it not working after some days. I will update my review after a week.
Pros: Great value for the specs, fast (but there are noticeable system jitters, rare), good for casual gaming, can play games at 60fps (highest it can get)
Cons: Asus app Armoury Crate cannot detect gpu stats so i have to download a 3rd party software to check gpu temp and load, Fairly weak chasis cause its all plastic (doesnt bother me), jitters, will get blue screen after windows update (need to uninstall and reinstall all gpu drivers to fix this), gaming gets up to 100fps reading but looks 60fps because screen is just 60hz and it was capped. Cannot be used to play on battery mode cause of performance drop (need to configure battery setting to max to get close performance when plugged in)

I got it on sale for 849.99 but I got misled by a ASUS rep on here saying it was 120Hz but nope its only 60hz.. But I’m still happy with it. I also added 16gb of ram and a 1TB SSD. It comes with the accessories to add an SSD or HDD . Pretty solid.

Previously, I had a CyberPower PC, which caused nothing but problem after problem and essentially broke within a year of me purchasing. So my mom got this one for me for Christmas and it is quite the upgrade and I honestly just prefer this much better than the CyberPowerPC gaming laptop I owned, that one was a waste of money.
I plan on using this solely for my major in Computer Art and Animation as well as streaming. I'm not sure if I'd want to play games on it, besides low end ones, because I don't want the battery to mess up and get overheated.

If you're in the market for a "budget" gaming laptop for playing on the go and maybe school work or writing, I can't think of a better choice than this snappy, stylish laptop from ASUS. A great i7 processor paired with a great SSD and plenty of room to upgrade on memory and storage under the hood. Handles most games in my library at no less than high to medium settings, often ultra settings on slightly older titles. Great screen and looks that don't immediately scream "gamer". No corners were cut on anything but the price, highly recommended.

I have nothing bad to say about this laptop. It's not the top of the line, but if your looking to get into PC gaming at the base level, it's as good as your going to get (I looked). It's designed to be easily upgraded, but will play most anything well enough as is. No webcam, but I didn't expect it to have one when I bought it. Maybe try to get it on sale to save a hundred bucks or so, but doesn't that apply to literally any laptop purchase?

The G531gt is everything I could ever want in a laptop. It runs so smoothly and have ran many things at the same time while playing games and have not gotten one lag spike. It also has an awesome rgb keyboard that looks so great. The display is amazing as well, way better than my last laptop. This has the latest I7 making so powerful for the price range as well as the new GTX 1650. I would recommend you buy it. You won't regret it.

I wanted a laptop for games and protects but all the gameing laptops look awful in my opinion red, blue or green and some rgb with all these edges and what not look pretty bad. This one looks the best out of the bunch and has rgb keyboard so it's not terrible overall I would have gone with the top spec one but this one is great for those on a budget.

I'm not a gamer but use this computer to work on Gopro videos. So far it has been great compared to my last computer. I've only used the Gopro Studio editing program but am not experiencing any glitches, lock ups or shut downs while putting together my videos. I like it. I didn't realize there was no number keypad on the right side when I bought so will have to get used to using the numbers at the top of the keyboard.

This laptop has been easy to use for the needs of my whole family. It works well for gaming and performs at very fast speeds. The only complaint we have is that the keyboard freezes from time to time and it takes several restarts to correct it.
