I've had this computer for about a week and so far I'm impressed. I'm not a hardcore gamer so I can't really speak for how well it works for top-of-the-line games, but I've been playing Civ 4 on it and have no problems running it, at medium to high settings. The only downside I can think of is the noise of the fans. It's not really loud, pretty soft, but still noticeable. But I can play for a couple of hours and it barely feels warm, so I'm ok with the noise.

Once I updated it with Acers lastest software, the keyboard became unrecognized. Fairly annoying have to use an external keyboard with a laptop when that takes away its ease of use. Acer couldn't help. Thankfully bestbuy was great with the return. Other than the keyboard problem, it actually was a great working unit.

I have bought a Lanovo laptop for son for his college architecture major and the unit had issue out of the box. Best Buy easily exchange the unit for this model and it works great for his needs. He had to have a good graphics card so this fit his needs. It’s a gaming laptop but he does not play game so think about model is you need one for architecture. He is very happy with and great value for the price.

So, this is my 5th gaming laptop from BB that I've tried in the budget area in the last 4-5 weeks. All have fallen short of expectations and quality, including this one. As others have posted, there seems to be a keyboard issue in which it becomes non-responsive, requiring a system reset to remedy. Also, the trackpad at times becomes laggy and non-responsive as well. The processor is a beast, which was the main purchasing motivator. Unfortunately, the GPU, the GTX 1650, is underwhelming, only slightly improving upon the 1050ti. Not to mention, after about a half hour of setting this up, GeForce Experience wanted to update before it would let me sign in, I allowed it, and then the system BSOD with an error from the GPU. It sat at the blue screen saying it would restart momentarily after collecting information for 30 minutes! I powered it off and restarted. Attempted to open up Nvidia control panel and it crashed again! This time saying there was an issue with the GPU RAM. So I waited and it restarted again, this time on it's own. Now when I attempt to load GeForce Experience, it crashes the app with error 0x0003. I've gone through every troubleshooting step. I've uninstalled, restarted, then reinstalled direct from Nvidia. I've changed some of the running services as a couple users said that worked for them. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the entire driver for the GPU and all Nvidia components, then reinstalled. All to the same effect, error and app crash! There is no way, that I should be having to do this with a laptop that is 5 days old, mind you, this had been an issue from day one. I was really wanting to love this laptop, but even the quality of the build feels cheap. Like really it can't have cost THAT much more to use some slightly higher quality materials. Maybe that's why this thing has been on sale more than it's been regular priced after only releasing less than 2 months ago. To be honest, getting a budget gaming laptop isn't a very good idea in general, unless you want subpar performance and issues. I've tried the Nitro 5 w/ i5 and 1050ti, the ROG Zephyrus w/ Ryzen 7 and 1660ti max-q, the G7 w/ i7 and 1060 6GB, and now this. Mind you I tired the Zephyrus twice, because I really wanted to love it too, but it had serious heat issues and the Ryzen 7 just isn't that great, it's not even as good as an i5 8300. The G7 thermal throttled horrendously, continually running Gears 4 in high settings at 1080p sub 60fps with a cpu temp of over 90c. Plus you have this ROG Strix that has just been a general nightmare of seeming software/firmware issues. Ironically, the best laptop was the Nitro out of all of them, had very few issues, is ran a little hot around 80c in triple A titles high setting, but it's also still just a 1050 ti which is essentially dead if you want to do any mainstream graphics intensive titles. All in all, don't take the bait, even if these PC's we're all half price, I wouldn't take them. I want reliability and quality, which means I need to start looking at higher end gaming laptop. I suggest you save up and do the same.

Pros: I really wanted to love this laptop. It's light weight and seems durable, and aesthetically it looks great. The components and capabilities of the hardware for the price are excellent. Cons: The keyboard constantly locks up and it would only work after restarting the laptop. Up to date drivers and software and even a complete reset of the OS didn't solve the issue. The keyboard would work after a restart, but only temporarily. It would eventually freeze and lock up again requiring another reboot. Returned and purchased a different laptop.

Great laptop. Nice backlit keyboard. Runs games with ease. However, the battery charger heats up rather quickly and the battery life off the charger isn't spectacular. I hear this is fairly common with gaming laptops that run these specs. All in all, a great price for a laptop of this quality.

This is probably the best laptop I've owned. I only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have a built-in camera. I love that the keyboard lights up and you can control the colors and speed of the lights. Have owned for more than a year and it's still going strong.

The computer is good, the only thing that would make it better is more 16 G RAM instead of 8 G and add a camera. I mean in 2020 I thought all laptops come equipped with a camera. Other than that I have had no problems with it.

its not a bad computer just had to give it a 4 star as it has no camera on it. I didnt look before i purchased it. So really have no one to blame except myself. But with today tec u would kind of expect a pc costing over a thousand dollars to at least have a camera on it.

Purchased this laptop earlier this week after researching many Asus ROG models. I ended up choosing this one because you can max out the ram at 32gb and it has a 2.5" sata slot as well as an M.2. You can max out this computer and get Win10 Pro for less than the machine already built at other retailers. Plus getting the GSP on this machine is a huge factor, have to protect your investment. If you're editing video or running VMs, the six core processor in this is better than the Ryzen 7 model with the upgraded graphics card. If graphics are important go with one of the other models as they have higher refresh rates than this one does. I purchased this machine for running a virtual testing environment and so far I am very happy with it. Updating the machine and getting the OS upgraded took less than 30 minutes. I'm very impressed with this machine and will update this review in a month or so.
