A good computer for gaming because of its fast speed. Still light weight and easy to travel with even though it is larger than other laptops.

The good: Processor and graphics card
The bad: screen is terrible. Dull and difficult to see at most angles. Track pad is not responsive. Hard drive is slow. Also dont care much for the gawdy bright red/orange nonsense throughout the exterior.

Best laptop I have had so far. It does everything that I want it to. I have read where some of the reviewers complain about the computer overheating. I have not had an issue with that. I don't play a lot of games, but the games that I have played, ran good. The only negative that I could give is the top of computer and the mouse pad are finger print magnets.

This is the third ASUS I have owned. It pretty much covers everything I need from gaming to normal every day use. Or use it for multiple gaiming platforms and it always performs exceptionally.
Cosmetically I wish they had stuck with blue instead of this red and oranges color but that has no impact on its performance.

I bought this laptop as my old gaming laptop was having issues with the keyboard. Now today, almost a year later, playing the newest games out and doing all my biz work on it, LOVE IT!

My old gaming laptop was only just over a year old when it suddenly died. I should have known better than to get something other than Asus, because the laptop before that lasted me years and years even after getting it refurbished. So I decided to look for another Asus ASAP, and this was one of the better ones I could find for my price range. I haven't had any issues with it that weren't Windows 10 related. The only major thing I would consider a con is that it runs pretty darn hot under load, but thankfully not near the WASD keys. A cooling pad has kept my concern about this to a minimum. The Geforce 970m has been good enough to play the things I like, and if I have the future funds I know I can rig together an external desktop GPU through the awesome thunderbolt port. This laptop handles a second monitor and stream broadcasting. Getting a USB hub lets you hook up all the peripherals you could want. It's a good mid-range powerhouse in my opinion. Your first upgrade might want to be an SSD instead of the hard drive provided, but that hard drive kept the initial cost down and that was great for getting a quick replacement laptop. Overall, I trust Asus for gaming laptops and I have not been disappointed with this one yet.

This laptop is great! I've had it for a year now and I'm able to play any new games that come out. I'm a casual gamer and also use this laptop for school and it fulfills all the requirements for a university student (includes microsoft office). Only downside is that the speaker is not loud so if you're gaming with it you need headphones or a headset to hear the game well. Great laptop 5/5 would buy again.

Prepare to Drop Another $100

I am sure most of you who are reading this are drawn to the GTX 970M which is one of the most outstanding features of this laptop. It runs Total War Warhammer with ease. Another great feature is the screen which has no glare! The last laptop I had was 6 years old and glare was the most annoying thing ever.
Te most negative thing about this laptop is the hard drive which is a slow slow SLOOOOWW 5400 RPM. Granted, it does lead to improve battery life over a 7500 rpm hard drive be prepared for long load times. This is why I dropped $100 for a 256 GB M.2 NGFF PCIe Gen3 x4, NVME Solid state drive SSD. After doing this I moved the OS to the SSD and now booting the laptop takes like 5 seconds. If you plan to do this make sure to buy a M2 x 3mm screw since the laptops does not come with it.
Overall, a good ASUS laptop in the $1200 range, but do yourself a favor and buy a SSD and transfer the OS when you get it. It will save you a huge headache later.

Excellent processor and video card can run just about anything. Great value for under $1,000. The only two drawbacks are a terrible battery life (3 hours) and a 5,400 RPM hard drive that bottlenecks the system. Replace it with an SSD and you're running a very capable workstation that can also run most any game on high settings.

I was looking for a very powerful computer that was not more than $1500 and can for the most part be equivalent to owning a desktop. This machine can handle any game I have played. Not on crazy high settings but on max on a lot of them. If you are looking for a portable machine that can handle itself you have found it.

From a general perspective, this is a great mobile gaming laptop. The thin and light chassis makes it quite convenient to carry around. Some considerations to make note of:
- Factory hard disk is painfully slow. You'll be doing yourself a favor by adding an NVMe PCI-e solid state disk, or replace with a plain ol' 2.5" SSD.
- 1080p is more than good for gaming resolution. 4k leads to horrible eye strain when you're viewing from a 15" screen.
- Screen hinges don't seem very sturdy. Right out of the box, the screen wobbled a little too much for my tastes.
- One can plug this laptop into a QHD or 4K monitor and play many games at reasonable frames on mid-high settings.
- Didn't mess with the touch pad much since i am always using my Logitech G602
- 12GB of RAM is plenty for a gaming computer
- 3GB VRAM is plenty for a gaming laptop. Don't hesitate if you're concerned that 3GB of VRAM will hold you back vs 6GB of VRAM, irrelevant.
Conclusion:
Barring my only complaint of the screen wobble, very strong ultra-mobile gaming laptop, and with a reasonably priced SSD add-on, you'll have a keeper of a laptop for 2-3 years.

My son previously had an Alienware laptop which the motherboard went bad after two years and Dell would look at it for a minimum of $409 and we purchased this laptop for around $800 on sale and with best buy rewards. He is happy with the performance of the laptop and uses it a lot for college so it seems like a better value than the Alienware.

The gaming laptop has all I need to play my games. The only issue I have is it heats up too hot, too fast. My AC in my house has to be on if I plan to play for more than 3 hours. Ive also had to setup a fan to blow directly into the rear and underside of the laptop. Othan t g an the overheating issue, its a great machine.

I'm impressed with the capabilities of this laptop compared to the price that you pay. It has had no problems keeping up with the games I have tried so far. The frame-rate is spectacular, and load times are minimal. I run all my games at the highest settings, and full HD without a hitch.
I would definitely recommend this product.

At $1,200 this laptop is very much worth it. I also added the 2yr full warranty plan for a total cost of $1540. It is very lightweight for the amount of hardware included, making it easily portable and yet performance is not lacking in the slightest. A good investment.

Very portable.....powerful for the size....no problem with over heating yet after a month. The only draw back is the hard drive slow.....you can put a ssd and a m2 so swap out the drive and it is a awsome gaming computer no complants now....for the price cant beat it.

Everything but the screen

I bought this while on sale for ~$830. I knew going into it that the screen was a TN. My secondary monitor on my gaming desktop is a TN, so I didn't think much of it. However, the screen is bad. I was constantly trying to adjust it for the right angle. Netflix, the darker scenes was so washed out you couldn't see anything. Gaming was even worse. At the precise angle, it looks amazing, but other than that you're out of luck. I had debated about buying a replacement screen, easy enough to do, but felt a brand new comp shouldn't need that. I also understand that BB has this exclusive model to be cheaper than other retailers, but at the expense of quality. I wouldn't recommend this if using the actual screen. If using an external monitor, then for the money, this is best bang for your buck and will last you many of years to come.

I got this laptop open box for an incredible price. I spent less than the full price if this machine to put a 240 GB PCI-E SSD and upgraded the RAM to 24 GB(max specs) and as long as I use my chillmat during any long term gaming sessions, I have a seamless 100+ FPS performance. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
