Great computer for my son who is majoring in digital animation. Allows him to manage quite a bit of work without always using the school's dedicated work stations. Open box deal with literally no visible blemishes or issues. We could not believe the discount. The sales team was great. Could not be happier.

We bought this for my daughter for Christmas 2018. She uses it for gaming and is able to play any game she wants. She also used it for online school for a year. The only problem she had with it occurred recently where it only charges when plugged in.

After using this Laptop for a little over 2 years I can honestly say it is a solid device. I have had to additionally purchase a cooling pad to keep the GPU from overheating too quickly but otherwise runs most games fairly well on medium settings.

This laptop exceeds my expectations, I was comparing it to the MSI GS65 and decided on this one because it went on sale for $1099. I'm very pleased with my purchase, the storage and RAM are upgradeable too. My only complaint is the sub 3 hour battery life, but that is to be expected with a gaming laptop.

Best laptop for gaming at this price point, prior to the launch of mobile rtx cards. Nice middle ground between portability and performance without looking to ~gamer~. Only gripe is the obnoxious startup sound which, thankfully, can be turned off in the BIOS. Bought 6 mos. ago and been very happy with it.

Good price point and the right amount of sizzle...

Good price point and very polished look with just the right amount of sizzle…. As a more mature gamer, I like having good quality equipment that is tasteful in appearance for daily use but still has enough “sizzle” to stand out from the crowd. This laptop fits the requirements, and is a good BB ‘private label’ model to steer you towards BestBuy to get a premium gaming laptop at a very nice price point. Best Buy made a good marketing decision on what to keep on this machine to keep the performance high and save a few hundred bucks off the price of the similar ASUS model. The pictures I saw of the laptop before seeing it in person did not do it justice. I was expecting kind of a “plastic case” appearance, but in the hands the machine feels very solid with a nice brushed finish on the metal case. The overall look is of a well-built and nicely styled laptop, very slim in appearance with some nicely stated color accents around the edges and the illuminated ROG logo on the lid. The ROG logo is one of the “sizzle” features that makes this laptop stand out (tastefully) in the crowd. The RGB keyboard really adds the final “pop” – quite eye-catching and very programmable. If it is too much for the occasion (as in school or office use) then the keyboard RGB effects can be turned off or put on single color just as a standard backlit keyboard. The 5.5 pound weight is not that much different from most laptops of the same size, and actually much less in the hand than other gaming laptops I have looked at. Final comments here are don’t go by the picture, see if you can get your hands on a laptop before spending the money and be sure it looks and feels premium – this one certainly does. In terms of hardware - for me, this machine has all the needed features of high-performance CPU, SSD, plenty of RAM, good storage space, and a very nice screen. There are also plenty of USB ports, with 1 Thunderbolt and HDMI. I must say having the Thunderbolt is nice as that is starting to be the way to go in the future to have one connection that rules them all. Quick comment that it was surprising at first not to have a network plug as that has almost always been pretty much standard on any laptop you look at. In the real world a hardwire connection is not needed that often, and have already gotten an inexpensive connector for Ethernet plug if the need should ever arise. Lack of a network plug has not been a problem – even when first setting up the machine it connected to home wireless system and was up and running without a hitch. The hardware, styling, and performance are what I want and expect from an up-to-date gaming laptop, but having all of this at the price point set for the Best Buy model is what really makes the package nice. What I am saying I guess is that there are a good number of gaming laptops on the market, but this model hits all the sweet spots for me, has better specs than many, performs at a high level, and comes in with an attractive price for a well-built and well-styled machine. I will be playing around with VR soon, and this unit passes the STEAM VR-Ready benchmarks with plenty of room to spare – no problem there. I have only had the laptop a short while, but with several current games set at high to ultra settings the laptop is able to provide a smooth, visual gaming experience. There will always be some games that need to be dropped down from the very highest settings to run at their best, but that is to be expected considering this laptop has the 1060 video chip. Just a technical note for you – if you are looking at the 1060 be sure you go with the 6gig of RAM and not the 3gig version on some of the mid-range machines. More RAM is really needed to get higher performance from the 1060 chipset. As always, you can spend more money to get a higher 1070 or 1080 video chipset, but this machine is about having a good price point and not about having the best of everything regardless of the price. No problems with a little compromise when you consider the quality of the components, sturdiness of construction, and attractive price of this laptop.

This laptop works great, I can play LoL, GW2, CS:GO, RS3, and APEX on it perfectly with 0 FPS lag. It runs very smooth and the audio is great, I ended up buying the exact same laptop for my wife because I loved it so much. It looks very sleek and cool as well, overall I’m very happy with my purchase.

This computer was an extreme upgrade from my PC that could barely handle two tabs of Google Chrome, so needless to say there’s a lot of things I like about this. However there were a couple deal breakers for me. One thing that I have yet to find a solution to is that, upon booting up, the ROG logo appears with a really loud whooshing sound that you can’t control the volume of. This doesn’t bother me at the moment, but if I ever have to move in with someone and have to use this at night, this will surely wake them up. Another thing (sort of minor and mostly fixable) is that the default size of the text is super tiny. I mean, I might not have the greatest eyes but it’s REALLY tiny sometimes and I have to lean forward to read it sometimes. It makes me wonder if I should’ve looked for a laptop with a better screen (4K for example.) I mean, I bought this with the intention to make videos and use photoshop and occasionally have the option to play heavy graphic games, and it hasn’t disappointed yet!

This product was a open box so it was a great deal, if it had the owners manual and I didn’t have to research how to get everything I need to run properly I would have given it 5 stars. For the price and they gave a great product that can handle more than I intend to use it for.

I love the laptop it’s great. Slim, fast and no problems. The only downside was I didn’t look at the specs to well and it has no Ethernet port. It’s strictly WiFi. But that was my fault for not paying attention I was to eager on my purchase.

Being in IT and gaming on the road I needed something with some power. This things can do a lot more then expected. Running AAA titles on Ultra and 1080p with no lag. And VR is smooth and quick. Truly surpassed my expectations.

This is a very powerful gaming computer for your gaming enthusiast. We purchased this for our son and couldn’t be more pleased. It will take him from the games he is playing now through more advanced VR games as he gets to be an older teen/gamer. Plus, BB’s customer service was fantastic.

The only things that I've noticed since I bought this unit is that it doesn't have an Ethernet port or a touch screen. For the port I had to buy a USB2 adapter which might slow down the connection. I don't really need the touch screen but if you do look somewhere else.

Overall I like this machine, but I purchased it with the sole plan to upgrade to 32GB RAM. I purchased RAM twice and both times it did not work. The tech discovered the 2nd RAM slot did not work. Interesting that ASUS had put the original 16GB RAM into the only working slot. I wonder if they knew they were shipping out a malfunctioning machine. It isn't as sleek as my other laptop but lightweight and sturdy for it's category. I will be discussing with Best Buy if they will resolve the damaged motherboard issue as I only discovered it a week ago when I finally got around to buying the RAM.
