    FPS DROP!!!!!!!

I get this laptop last Friday, and download AC Origin to play. I find that this laptop has a huge problem, which is FPS LAG. Normally, the fps of ac origin on this laptop is 50. But, every minute, the fps will drop to 30 and return back to 50. At the beginning, I thought this problem is from the optimization of game. But when I try PES2018 with medium setting, this laptop still has the fps drop problem. It's ridiculous that the fps drop problem should occur in this kind of laptop with high specification.

This laptop does well with multiple browsers running as well as Office applications. When I tried running some of my Adobe Creative Cloud apps (one at a time and all other apps closed) it really struggled.

This ASUS ROG gaming laptop is a powerhouse and is a joy to use. This laptop will handle any game you throw at it. The screen is nice, sound is excellent and build quality is top notch. Lately I have been playing Fortnite and Overwatch and it handles those games with ease. Set up was easy and the best part is there is NO bloatware pre-installed. I really love just about everything about this laptop. My only concern is scratching the palm rest area of the laptop. It is made of metal and painted black so any scratches would be highly visible. Also, the fan tends to get a bit loud but I think it sounds cool and it is to be expected since it's equipped with a GTX 1060 card. If you are looking for a power house laptop that is still very portable AND well built then get this NOW!

At first this laptop was really quite good, it's a solid performer for 1080p gaming albeit a little noisy and the 1tb SSHD is rather sluggish so it got swapped for a Samsung 850 Evo. The keyboard is okay, a little mushy and slightly cramped but it's a 15.6 so sacrifices are made there, screen is smooth and responsive although slightly dim. About 8 months into owning the laptop however I encountered a major issue, while loading a game the laptop black screened and completely shut off, no LED indicators when plugged, won't start back up at all. I attempted to reset the bios by removing the CMOS battery and the laptops battery and holding the power button, still nothing. After looking at the PCB everything appears fine, no bursted caps or anything of like. If you get one that lasts it's a solid laptop but if you get a dud you are kind of screwed, I've had ASUS GPU's that were defective out of the box as well as two bad Motherboards. At this point I think I'm going to steer clear of ASUS altogether and take my money elsewhere. I purchased the laptop as a "Geeksquad Certified" product as well.

I exchanged this PC 2 times before I went to MSI. First purchase - Lots of light bleed to the point of annoyance. Second purchase - Laptop constantly overheated. Third purchase - Screen began to flicker and go bad. This was all within a 1 month time span.

    Excellent Performance/Cost Ratio

    Posted .

The specs on this laptop are excellent for the price! The 8th-gen i7-8750H has 6 cores and currently ranks #54/1144 in CPU benchmarks according to cpu.userbenchmark.com. 5th percentile, not too shabby! The NVIDIA GTX 1060 has 1280 CUDA cores and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. This is awesome for machine learning, which is what I mainly use this laptop for. Beware that the extra performance from the CPU and GPU will shorten the battery life to around 5-6 hours. That's the cost of performance though. The screen resolution is Full HD (1920 x 1080), which is okay, but I would have preferred 4K Ultra HD. I didn't see any ROGs on BB with 4K UHD, and I probably wouldn't be able to justify the extra cost anyways. The frame around the display is also quite wide, almost an inch all around, but this could have been done on purpose for solid build. The HD/SSD combo is also quite generous, but out-of-the box, after Windows installation, there's only 76 GB SSD left for programs. Should be enough, but I'd hate to split my installs over two disks if this fills up. Time will tell. Overall, I'm very happy with this laptop. The construction is very solid and the back-lit RGB keyboard is beautiful. A fingerprint touchpad would have been nice, but that's a minor detail barely worth mentioning. The performance of this machine is really great for the price, and I'm looking forward to working with it in the future. Definitely recommend.

I loved this computer at first. I do light gaming and it ran smoothly. But yesterday I was browsing the web when I heard a small zap, like a static shock, and it turned off and hasn't responded since. No power lights come on when it's plugged in, I've tried troubleshooting steps. I fear it was the motherboard. And turns out, my warranty ended just 6 days ago. This is so frustrating. I've only owned it for 8 months. I spent over $1300 for it and it didnt last at all. This was my first Asus and now it will my last.

    Worst Computer I've ever had!

I paid around $1500 for this computer it is the worthless investment I've ever made! a $600 computer works better than this! During the first year, I owned this computer I've had no problem at all. I didn't buy it for gaming but to edit video occasionally due to my work and to be honest I rarely used this computer or this. I never had a problem until the warranty expired...2 months after, I was working on it when the fan suddenly started to run fast and the computer shut off out of nowhere! Couldn't turn it back on and now ASUS pretends to charge $800 to repair the motherboard. I could just buy a new computer that won't give me problems like this one!

Had extremely high hopes for this laptop. Specs and pricing are great. I purchased this and brought it home to find out that there was an issue with the video card and it would not load any games without MAJOR lag. BB confirmed it was defective and gave me another one. Took this one home and the mic and webcam did not work. Taking it back to BB, found out it wasnt a driver issue but that the thought was that the webcam and mic were not internally plugged in. Decided to not try for a 3rd laptop. Really disappointed in this experience. I've read and watched numerous reviews and 99% are all positive. Hope I happened to get the couple of defective units and others dont feel let down like I do.

This laptop could have been great, but it fell short. Not only does it sound like a Boeing 747 taking off, it had a bad screen bleed day 1 out of the box. Definitely not worth 1600 after taxes
