I am dealing with a really annoying hissing sound which is not just a manufacturer error but is actually a defect in design! I honestly thought Asus was the leader in computer technologies but thus far I have been pretty disappointed with some of the aspects of the new Asus ROG GU501GM Laptop I just purchased. I mean even companies like HP can make a headphone jack that doesn't admit this hi pitch hissing noise like I just plugged into the cheapest piece of audio equipment on the planet. I think the worst part is Asus and Best Buy are still selling this Laptop and have absolutely no intention of fixing the problem except to maybe suggest their customers buy more expensive headphones. I'm not asking for 7.1 fidelity if I was Id use better headphones which I do own. However it is a laptop so why should I have to cart around giant expensive headphones with me just to use my laptop which by design is made to be portable and convenient. I'm just looking for decent quality sound without this horrible hiss anything but this would have been acceptable. Now just wait for it! Some random employee from Asus will offer me his condolences on the dissatisfaction i'm experiencing with his product. He of coarse will suggest I check out his long esoteric list of trouble shooting tips knowing full well that there is nothing that will actually fix this issue. Hey thanks for nothing id except your insincere apology but I'm not sure Id even be able to hear you over the sound of this horrible hissing noise.

We purchased this laptop for our son. The laptop itself is very sturdy and well built. It is lightening fast and he absolutely loves it.

It’s decent laptop. Runs VR with no frame drops. It’s my go to for traveling. Sleek outer casing and great resistance on key press.

This gaming laptop is not bad at all. if your new at gaming you should really buy it but beware of short battery life

Everyone beware when buying this laptop. Because Bestbuy is selling repaired/refurbship as new laptop. I found it after 3 months of purchasing when upgrading my SSD. Now Bestbuy is not helping because it is not their policy to help after 3 months and Asus is not helping because their warranty not support when old laptop sold as new laptop.

it´s kinda great, from design and gaming. but it makes lot of noise, like a silvido.

The title really says it all. I love to game when I get a chance to release some stress, but my passion is content creation. I choose not to buy a mac book pro, because of their poor builds for "thin stylish designs." I have owned this laptop for about a year now and it has held up for some basic editing, but when I have to edit some real content it falls apart. For one the thunderbolt three connector glitches out the laptop. It literally freezes the computer. I know this is not an issue on the drive's end, because it works with my tower. There have been some weird issues with it turning on at times and then just randomly cutting out. What I mean by cutting out, I mean the system just decides to freeze and turn off. I assume this is a ROG issue and not a windows issue. I would recommend this laptop for gamers, but not content creators. In short, I regret this purchase.

I figured I would take this opportunity as I sit in line at Geek Squad to review this laptop. I purchased it about 9 months ago. This is the third time I've brought it to Geek Squad for BIOS failure... The second time was during finals week so I had to buy my own copy of Windows and install it myself. Pretty much over this laptop, especially for the price.

This laptop runs many high end games and it displays really good graphics.
